DO NOT FAINT

Text : Luke 18:2  Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up). Tonight, many people shall be praying, deciding and resolving on new life they would like to embrace in the year 2021.  One major resolve I will however encourage you to make in this coming year is never to faint in God's presence (place of PRAYER). Jesus said, "man ought always to pray and not faint" This is talking to us about the kind of attitude you must embrace in 2021. You must prepare to never allow any challenge take you out of God's presence. Do not give up. Do not loose heart. Do not faint. Prepare your heart to stand in the faith.  People faint because they are no longer standing in the faith. "....Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?" Luke 18:8 When Jesus prayed for Peter in Luke 22:32, one thing He emphasized in His prayer was that his faith will not fail.

AVOIDING PITFALLS

Text : Ecc 7:8   Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. When ever any sane person sees the inscription " *CAUTION,*" the most commonsensical thing to do is to really take precautions. The same rule applies in the Spirit, to succeed, you need to take heed to necessary precautions slated in the word. I need not say that success in the Spirit will translate to your all-round success.  Today, we shall be looking at some of the precautions to adhere to in order to avoid impending pitfalls not just in the coming year but all through life.  1.) *Procrastination*: This is simply the act of postponing, delaying or putting off something; especially habitually or intentionally. This vice is one of the biggest 'stealer' of people's time and resources. It is very easy to form a habit of this evil under guise of different excuses. The first step to overcoming this pitfall is to admit that you a

STEPS TO FINISHING STRONG

Text : Ecc 7:8   Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Undoubtedly, many are earnestly preparing for 2021. Great as that idea may be, I need to remind you that we still have 3 days to go in 2020. Prepare yourself for the better part of this year. A lot can still happen in three days if only you will position your mind for it. So here are few steps to finishing strong not just in 2020 but in everything you set to do: 1.) *Have self control;* Constantly put yourself under check. Anyone who desires to go far in life must learn to put his body under. 'But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.'1Co 9:27. 2.) *Don't settle in your best*; One key to greater exploit is to never get satisfied with your latest achievement. Always reach forth to things ahead Phil. 3:13. 3.) *Push Forward*; Don't wait

FINISHING STRONG(2)

Text : Ecc 7:8   Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. John Stephen Akhwari represented his country Tanzania to compete in the marathon in the 1968 Mexican Olympics. In the early parts of the race, Akhwari cramped up due to the high altitude of the city. At the 19 kilometer point during the 42 kilometer race, he collided with another runner and fell, badly cutting and dislocating his knee. He also hurt his shoulder when he hit the ground. However, despite the injuries, he still pressed on and finished the race as the last person of the 57 competitors who finished. When interviewed later and asked why he continued running despite his injuries, he simply said, “My country did not send me 5,000 miles to start the race; they sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race.” Just like John, God didn't send Jesus Christ to this world to come and die, only for you to start up as a Christian and then give up.  Rath

FINISHING STRONG

Text : Ecc 7:8 KJV  Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. It doesn't matter if you've had a great start in the Christian life, or a rough one. It doesn't matter if you've stumbled time and again, or even fallen flat on your face. What matters most in this all-important race of life is how you finish. .. There are too many who quietly step down from the faith because, in some way, they have disqualified themselves. Having fallen several times, there's the tendency of throwing in the towel in defeat.  If you are in this position, hold on, and hear the word of God.  Psalms 34:19 says "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all." Note that even the righteous is not exempted from afflictions, however, the good news is, unlike the wicked, the righteous would be delivered from *THEM ALL* .  Again, His word says "For a just man fa

JESUS OUR PEACE

Text : Isaiah 9:6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.   Jesus does not only give us peace, He is essentially our PEACE. He is the very author of PEACE for as many as received Him. In this world wherein we live, there are so many reasons to be troubled and thrown off balance. But the Prince of peace Himself is always by your side to provide you with the much needed peace. I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33   One day Jesus was on the sea with His disciples, and there arose a life threatening boisterous wind. Nothing on earth could take away peace like being on a boat that is about to sink. Perhaps, you are on such boat as you are reading now. I want to ask you to simply call on Jesus in Faith.   But s

JESUS CHRIST-OUR GREATEST GIFT

Text : Luke 2:10.  Jesus was like an alabaster box that was found in Israel by birth, His body was broken for the release of the savour of His good ointment and poured forth as ointment.(SOS 1:3). Jesus is the very Gift of God for every season and time. He is the essence and the reason for the season. Christmas brings us three realities and reasons why we need to remember and celebrate JESUS always. 1. Jesus is God's greatest Love to mankind. John 3:16, 1John 3:16 2. Jesus is God's Greatest Gift to mankind. John 4:10, Rom 5:15-16. 3. Jesus is God's Greatest Price paid on mankind.  Mathew 27:45-46.  *_ALL THAT GOD WILL EVER GIVE YOU HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVEN TO YOU IN JESUS. HE IS ALL OF GOD FOR YOU YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMMORROW_* . THE GOOD TIDINGS (2)

Text : Luke 2:10.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. If the angel said that they brought good tidings of GREAT JOY to all people; then it's better you believe it. Jesus" birth is a good tidings of GREAT Joy indeed.  This is the time for you to rediscover the essence of Jesus Christ. Are you truly experiencing this glad tidings of GREAT JOY in your life? Is it experiential and tangible to you just as it was to the angels? I have been praying one prayer point since the Lord opened my eyes to this verse: Lord, please help me see and fully realise same joy(and much more) that the host of heaven experienced at the birth of CHRIST. *The rejoicing of the angels was actually for man*  Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:13-14 May the Lord

THE GOOD TIDINGS

Though the handwriting is big on the wall, yet there's need to sound the trumpet so loud over and over again about the reason for the season. Year in year out, people celebrate Christmas which actually is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. But are we really celebrating Christ?  The angels who heralded the news about the birth of Jesus proclaimed that Jesus is *GOOD TIDINGS* of *GREAT JOY* and this shall be to *ALL PEOPLE.* Luke 2:10. You are included in that 'ALL PEOPLE'. Have you received the good tidings? The good tidings is summarised in John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,a but have everlasting life. DIGGING A HOLE

Text : Mat 25:18 ISV  But the one who received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and buried his master’s money. The story was told (by Jesus Christ) of slaves who were given portions of their Master's possession to trade with and make profit.  The Master in His wisdom, gave to everyone according to his ability. Matthew 25:15. The first set of people set about their business immediately, and by the time the master returns,  they had made hundredfold returns. The other category,  instead of giving report,  came up with stories- the story behind his failure. Matthew 25:24-25. I know you are familiar with the story, but permit me to draw your attention to some of the attributes of this second category of a slave.  1.) *He was numbered with the slaves.*  Just like many people in the church today are numbered as Christians. This fellow too was part of the people referred to as servants of the King.  Are you just part of the number or are you a Christian (Christ follower)  in

JESUS OUR GIFT

Text : Romans  6:23   .....but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  The greatest Gift God had ever given and will ever give to humankind is Jesus Christ.  This is another festive season that brings you another fresh remembrance of God's Love for you.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 3:16. The love of God for you is already expressed in the birth and death of Jesus Christ. You will not experience any greater prove of God's Love than what He already did in  Christ Jesus.  All other love and gifts that you will receive from God will be through and in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:32 says: "Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?" Jesus is the prerequisite Gift for Every other gifts we shall receive from God. If we have Him, we already gotten all things. You need to prepare

NO MORE TWO

Text : Matthew 19:6  So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate. God is not a man that He should lie......(Numbers 23:9). God said concerning husband and wife that they are no longer two but ONE. Any couple that divorced never remains the same. Couples that have experienced divorce are no longer TWO  afterwards. They are still ONE. Only thay they are now miserably divided. Such are turned apart in every way-emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and materially. It does not only affect the couple but also their children and extended family. Divorce truly is one of the major strategy of the devil to destroy and deface mankind. What you see in the world today starts from a family unit. The criminali, prostitutes, scammers and corrupt Leaders in government are all products from family unit. Before God gave Adam a woman, He said, Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is jus

DIVORCE 3

Text : Matthew 19:6  So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate. The question every genuine christian(Born again) must ask is: why would Jesus who did not marry be talking about marriage and divorce? Today, I shall be pointing out few reasons God wouldn't want you to  divorce your spouse.  1.)  Divorce only points out the fact that either or both the two spouses are hard-hearted. Jesus said , “Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended. Mathew 19:8.(NLT)  In the scripture above, Jesus pointed out that: A.)  It was  *Moses* who allowed divorce. Just like many Pastors are caught within the web of DIVORCE pressure from couples.  Pastors, like Moses are sometimes confronted with critical  situations in marriages, that they simply give in and permit divorce(either by silence or express permission). Moses only permitted divorce because of the: B.) *Hardne

DIVORCE 2

Text : Matthew 19:6  So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate.” A number of the so called high and mighty in the Christendom today,  are now engaging in the very act of divorce or are teaching people that it's better to divorce than stay in a marriage that is not working.  No matter how much their argument appeals to common sense, it still goes against the instructions of God. Jesus Christ, our perfect example told us that Moses told them of the Old Testament to give a bill of divorce to their partners simply because of the hardness of their hearts.  But He immediately concluded  by saying that "from the beginning it was not so." Matthew 19:6-7. So why would you indulge in what was not the intention and will of God for your life?  As a matter of fact,  why would you engage in what God hates?  The best way to avoid divorce is actually before you say *'I do'*. Before you tie the knot,  see to it that

DIVORCE

https:Text : Matthew 19:6  So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate.” The Spirit of the Lord has been nudging me to write on the issue of divorce for some time now , and I have been somewhat draggy(for obvious reasons). But He impressed it in my heart again today, so here we are.  Because many people(Christians inclusive) are playing down on the topic of divorce, it seems as though God has finally understood our lowly estate and have lowered His standards on the issue of divorce.  Well, the word of God is  forever settled in heaven. And this is what He has to say on the matter : “ *Indeed, the LORD God of Israel says that he hates divorce,* along with the one who conceals his violence by outward appearances,” says the LORD of the Heavenly Armies. “So guard yourselves carefully, and don’t be unfaithful.”Malachi 2:16 ISV.  It doesn't matter who is involved,  what the Lord said He hates, He can't condone it for any

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF

Texts: 1 Sam.  30:6 And David was greatly distressed: for the people spake of stoning him, dont because the soul of the people was grieved,  every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord His God.  Everyone needs encouragement. Having the pleasure of someone to encourage you in your down time is a beautiful treasure to be appreciated.  However, you must be careful not to develop a habit out of this because  you will not always have that shoulder to cry on. Jer. 17:5 says woe is the man who puts his trust in the arm of flesh- for it shall fail(paraphrasing) Nonetheless,  there's one person you can always count on to be there, and that person is "YOU". David,  the major character from our text learnt this truth quite early and this explains why he took the step he did.  Analysis of the real situation of David : 1. David ran away from the palace because the king was after his life. This was the same king that David was called upon to he

VALUE SYSTEM

Text : 1Co 15:19   And if Christ gives us a reason to hope during this life only, then we are the saddest people in the world! Then everybody should be more sorry for us than for any other people.(EasyEnglish) One of the greatest evil the devil has done to the fallen man (mankind) is misplaced value systems.  Value system represents a basic belief that a particular conduct is personally or socially preferable or not. Values are important because they influence our perception. However, what is generally accepted as right value systems today( in its most refined manner) is a perverted, unacceptable and ungodly system that is designed to oppose God.  The devil has designed a program for man that makes him to pursue futility and vanity with all of his strength and soul. Some of this pursuits look so legit that even "Christians" are caught up in the web.  This program or worldy design of the devil is what is popularly known as 'rat-race.' Jesus told us of it in Matthew 13:

What Next? (2)

Text : Philippians 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. When you don't have clear picture of the end in mind, you may likely miss the mark. May we not run amiss in Jesus name.  Apostle Paul knew what he was aiming at. He ran with an end in mind. He pressed toward the mark. He was so purposeful and intentional about His *PURSUIT.* He ran for the prize of the high calling. The question you need to ask yourself today is: What am I running for? What am I living for? How do I see my life in the NOW and Hereafter?  You must understand that you are an eternal being. Your soul is the only thing you have that outlive and outspan this present world. It is so much more precious and weighted than the world. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?Mark 8:36-37 Knowing that your soul is eternal. Why then would you be using eternal element(soul), t

WHAT NEXT

Text : Mar 12:30. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Some years back, I was a student at the Polytechnic.  By divine arrangement, I seem to belong to virtually every unit in the fellowship.  I was a member of the Sanctuary keepers,  I  doubled as the Evangelism and Prayer secretary at the executive level, I  was part of the altar nurses who always sit with the pastors to attend to their needs. And many more engagements that has no portfolio but always find me ready to execute.  Later,  I did a  direct entry to the University and I  told myself that enough of the accumulated extra baggage of spiritual activities (mind you,  I was doing all these with all of my heart and my academics was not suffering).  However, I resolved within myself that I will not be so entangled with 'spiritual encumbrances' like I  did at the polytechnic.  Hence,  whenever people accost me with one responsibility or

BE TRANSFORMED

Text : Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.(NLT) Real and lasting transformation begins from the inside(the inner man). If you want to experience a change in your life, you must allow God change the way you think.  Your thought is what describes your personality. "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he:......" Proverbs 23:7. The word "transform' is coined from a Greek word-metamorphoo. This means to change into another form or to transfigure.  This word metamorphoo(transformed, transfigured) is both used in Mathew 17:2 and Romans 12:2). In the case of Jesus Christ on mount of transfiguaration  We saw that Jesus' appearance and face changed simply because He was transformed from within. If you are truly experiencing constant renewal from the inside, your world will soon find ou

DON'T COPY

Text : Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.(NLT) Let me state clearly from the start that today's message is not for those who are not the disciples of Christ. As a matter of fact, it is impossible for a non-disciple to comply, because he is not so wired.  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.Rom 8:7 KJV. However,  there's grace for you to also come into the winning camp. All you need do is genuinely surrender to Christ's tutelage, and He will lead you to the right person who will teach you His ways. Titus 2:11-12. Having ascertain that you are a disciple of Christ,  then,  it is time to hear His instructions for you : 1. *Don't copy:* There's is a natural tendency to copy the behavioural pattern and customs

HE HONOURS

Text : Psa 91:15 KJV  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. I'd rather have God honour me than to have all the acclaim this world has to offer. There's nothing compared to having the God of the universe honours you. The promise God gave in Psalms 91:15, is so encompassing. He said: ** When you call upon Him, He will answer.  ** He said He will be with you in trouble, and deliver you.  ** And He said He will honour you.  Now,  these promises are not just for anybody, but for those who have fulfilled what He said in verse 14. Psalm 91:14- Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. That is,  to be qualified for what He said in verse 15, you must have fulfilled what He said in verse 14:  1. *Because he has focused his love on me.*  Is your love focused on Him?  Or your love is shared among many things? 2. *Because he has known my

SPIRIT OF FEAR*

Text : 2Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. From our text, we could infer the following : 1. *Fear is a spirit* : Fear is not a feeling but a Spirit.  Fear is the opposite of faith. That is why the fearful cannot please God. In fact,  Jesus said the fearful will not enter the kingdom.  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.Rev 21:8 KJV. 2. *Fear is not of God:*  Though fear is a spirit and God is Spirit too John 4:24,  but fear did not come from God. If fear is not from God, obviously, it's from the devil.  God said categorically that He has not given us the spirit of fear... 1 Timothy 1:7. 3. *God gave us other spirits :* God has given us the spirit of POWER,  the spirit of LOVE,  and the spirit of SOUND MIND, 1 Timothy 1

INSTRUCTION

Text : Pro 4:13 ISV  Hold on to instruction, do not let it go!   Guard wisdom, because she is your life! This life is guarded by instructions. The reason the world is what it is today is because the first man - Adam did not follow instruction. And the reason you are where you are today is a function of the instructions you have listened to or failed to listen to.  All the people that perished with the flood during the time of Noah did so for refusing instructions Genesis 6 . Since the fall of man in the garden of Eden to the time of Noah, and all through till today,  life has been and is still being guarded by instructions.  To refuse instructions is to refuse life.   *Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.* Pro 4:13. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; *and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:* Pro 6:23.  *He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction:* but he that refuseth reproof erreth.Pro 10:17.  *The key word for

Justified By Faith

Text. : Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law._ (NIV)  Though several people have professed and confessed Jesus as their personal Saviour and Lord, but they still discover that sin overpowers them.  They are yet to experience  victory over sin in their daily experience. One of the reasons for this is because we pursue to perfect our salvation through our personal efforts and the laws. The only thing laws can do for us is to awaken us to the consciousness of sin. Jesus started the journey of our salvation, and He is the only One that can Perfect it (not the law or man's efforts). All we need do is simply believe Him.Because, He's the One that works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure. Phil. 2:13. I realised that though many people have truly given their lives to Christ, but because they keep falling into sins; they gave up and went back to their former estate. Some have tried to stop one sinful habit or the oth

BELIEVING IN THE FACE OF FEAR

Text* :Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe._  Jesus told Jairus not to be afraid but only Believe. Jesus is still uttering the same statement to you today: *Fear Not, only Believe*  With all the happenings all around you, your failing health, loss of job and investment,  debts, effects of the pandemic on your business, and so on. The tendency for fear and  panic is very high. But in all, we must not allow fear in our hearts, for fear is a tormentor. From Mark 5 record, Jairus beckoned on Jesus to come help heal his child who is at the point of death. On their way to Jairus' house, bad news came to Jairus that  his daughter had died. Jesus heard this and quickly interrupted the Bad news even before Jairus could profess it, " *Fear Not, Only Believe* " Jesus knew that there is tendency for Jairus to be afraid. In the same vein, we also stand the chance of being fearful in the midst

GENUINE REPENTANCE

*TEXT* :  Mathew 3:8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Many only confess Jesus as their Lord and Saviour but never repented. Genuine repentance will always lead to a changed life. It is not enough to tell someone you are sorry and you keep repeating same thing all over.  The major difference between Christians of today and the old saints is that when the latter met with Christ, they truly repented. But many a Christians today only confess Jesus but they never come to a place of repentance. Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Acts 3:19 Repentance will make you turn to God genuinely. It shows that you have realised your errors and sins; and that you are willing to turn a new leave.  Repentance is a change of heart. It is a turning back. It is a point where you decide to stop leading a pattern of life. It is all about changing from one path to another. As much as God's grace has brought forgivenes

DESIRE

*TEXT* :  1 peter 2:2 Like new born babies,  thirst for the pure milk of the word that will help you grow and be saved.  (CEV)_  Pure milk is the basic elemental teachings of Christian Faith.  Anyone who has not mastered milk of the word, cannot move to meat nor strong meat of the word. however,  the first step towards milk is desire. You must desire the sincere milk of the word. You must develop an appetite for this sincere milk. Your foundation, to a very large extent determines your growth and development in your journey towards becoming like Christ.  Apostle Paul in Hebrews chapter six,  highlighted for us six elementary doctrine which makes up the "milk of the word ." 1. Repentance from acts that leads to death.  2. Faith in God.  3. Instructions about baptism.  4.  Laying on of hands.  5. Resurrection from the dead.  6. Eternal judgement.  Today,  we shall be focusing on the first point only.  The first thing a true believer in Christ should strive to do, is turning awa

DON'T BE LIMITED

Text : 2 Kings 4:3  Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. There came a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, your servant my husband is dead; and you know that he did fear the LORD: and the creditor has come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. 2King 4:1 This was the critical  situation a widow has found herself. Elisha instructed her to go borrow many empty vessels. No specific number was given. It was unfortunate that the widow put a limit on the vessel. She did not borrow enough.  She told her sons to bring more vessel but she has exhausted all that she borrowed. The oil stopped because there was no more vessel to contain it. We must pray to God to increase our capacity. The woman would have desired more oil, but her capacity could not take it.  And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There
