AVOIDING PITFALLS

Text : Ecc 7:8

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

When ever any sane person sees the inscription " *CAUTION,*"

the most commonsensical thing to do is to really take precautions. The same rule applies in the Spirit, to succeed, you need to take heed to necessary precautions slated in the word. I need not say that success in the Spirit will translate to your all-round success.

Today, we shall be looking at some of the precautions to adhere to in order to avoid impending pitfalls not just in the coming year but all through life.

1.) *Procrastination*: This is simply the act of postponing, delaying or putting off something;

especially habitually or intentionally. This vice is one of the biggest 'stealer' of people's time and resources. It is very easy to form a habit of this evil under guise of different excuses. The first step to overcoming this pitfall is to admit that you are guilty of it, and then ask God to give you Grace to always cease the day. John 4;35.

*REMEMBER, TICK SAYS THE CLOCK, TICK TICK,WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, DO QUICK!*

2.) *IMPATIENCE;* Another major pitfall you must watch out to avoid is *IMPATIENCE*. Procrastination and impatience may seem like two sides of a coin but they are not. While the former is intentionally delaying in doing what is right( which could lead to sin, because he who knows what to do and does it not, to him is a sin) , the later is rushing ahead of God to do what you think is right.

The first quality of Love(God) is patience. 1 Cor. 13:4. Impatience is not a virtue it is a vice.

Receive the Grace to table every matter before God before making any decision and willfully cultivate it as a culture.

*HE THAT BELIEVES WILL NOT MAKE HASTE* . Isaiah 28:16.

3.) *PRIDE :* have you ever wonder why the issue of impatience and pride is lumped together with the issue of ending well in Eccl. 7:8?

Well, the fact that you will finish well is a constant as far as God is concerned. He said His thoughts towards you are good and not evil to give you a hope and a future. Jer 29:11.

However, there are some other variables which can make or mar His thoughts towards you. And these are contained in your ability to patiently wait for His promises without entertaining any iota of pride in you.

*Remember, Pride goes before the fall. Prov 16:18.*

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
