DIVORCE 3

Text : Matthew 19:6

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate.

The question every genuine christian(Born again) must ask is: why would Jesus who did not marry be talking about marriage and divorce?

Today, I shall be pointing out few reasons God wouldn't want you to  divorce your spouse.

1.)  Divorce only points out the fact that either or both the two spouses are hard-hearted.

Jesus said , “Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended. Mathew 19:8.(NLT)

In the scripture above, Jesus pointed out that:

A.)  It was  *Moses* who allowed divorce.

Just like many Pastors are caught within the web of DIVORCE pressure from couples.  Pastors, like Moses are sometimes confronted with critical  situations in marriages, that they simply give in and permit divorce(either by silence or express permission).

Moses only permitted divorce because of the:

B.) *Hardness* of their heart.

A man with hardened heart is a man who no longer yields to God.  Such a man or woman no longer responds to God. Such man or woman has taken an opposite direction against God. Even Adam in His falling state did not divorce Eve. Imagine you were Adam whose wife had just contributed to his fall. Genesis 3:12 "And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me—she gave me [fruit] from the tree, and I ate"

Even if we blame Adam for accepting the fruit, at least Eve was the tempting medium(Gen 3:6). Despite the fact that Adam fell from the Big plan of God, yet he did not divorce his wife. They cleaved together all the same.

Adam simply understood  this: “....This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.Gen2:23-24.

What sin would your Spouse commit against you, that could warrant divorce? Was it up to the temptation Eve brought to Adam?

I tell you the truth; No man or woman on the face of the earth has created BIG issue for his or her spouse and the whole of mankind like Eve did to Adam.

This one good thing we must learn from the marriage of Adam and Eve. If at all we don't seem to find any good example we could learn from them. Let us learn this one thing: *THEY STILL CLEAVED TOGETHER IN THE FACE OF BIG CHALLENGE.*

At this falling state of Adam and Eve, their hearts were not as hardened as the hearts of many today. Why? Because:

C.) Divorce was not God's plan from the *beginning*  Adam and Eve still stayed together and God covered their nakedness. "And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife"Genesis 3:21

No separation took place. No divorce took place. Though they lost a major plan of God that has left the world the way it is today, yet they did not divorce.

*FIND GRACE BEFORE GOD TO HELP YOU FORGIVE YOUR SPOUSE FOR ANY WRONGS HE OR SHE HAS DONE AGAINST YOU*

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
