VALUE SYSTEM

Text : 1Co 15:19

And if Christ gives us a reason to hope during this life only, then we are the saddest people in the world! Then everybody should be more sorry for us than for any other people.(EasyEnglish)

One of the greatest evil the devil has done to the fallen man (mankind) is misplaced value systems.

Value system represents a basic belief that a particular conduct is personally or socially preferable or not. Values are important because they influence our perception.

However, what is generally accepted as right value systems today( in its most refined manner) is a perverted, unacceptable and ungodly system that is designed to oppose God.

The devil has designed a program for man that makes him to pursue futility and vanity with all of his strength and soul. Some of this pursuits look so legit that even "Christians" are caught up in the web.

This program or worldy design of the devil is what is popularly known as 'rat-race.'

Jesus told us of it in Matthew 13:22, where He referred to it as "cares of this world and deceitfulness of riches.

Anything (be it mundane or 'spiritual') that preoccupies your heart and get you busy without leading you to Christ is either cares of this world or deceitfulness of riches.

Mind you,  these things doesn't necessarily have to be sins, but they have the power to draw your attention away from God to things that perish. For instance, taking care of children is not a sin,  but they must not take the place of God. Or going about your business or work is legit, but it must not be more Exalted

The biggest weapon of the enemy is to occupy man(his time and strength)  on things that has no eternal value- this is a big misplaced value system.

You can break away from this perishing value system today by intentionally laying up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: Matt. 6:20.

Now, the question is,  how do I lay up for myself treasures in heaven?.  Well Luke 18:22 gave the answer. "Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me."

The word of God is so clear on this matter. To lay up treasures for yourself in heaven, you are to do the following :

1. *Use your substance to take care of the poor.* The poor needs no definition,  when you see one,  you will know.  Jesus said,  the poor we will always have with us Matt. 26:11. So if you are not seeing them,  it's because you are not looking.

2. *Come to Jesus.*: If you only give to the poor without being with Jesus,  you are only a philanthropist, and you will receive your reward here on earth.

3. *Follow Him* : It's not enough to come to Jesus,  you have to keep following Him.

*It is in following Jesus every step of the way that you will truly be delivered from this evil value system* .

Bible reading: Matthew 6:19-34, 13:11-23.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
