MY HOUSE

TEXT: Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. One major feature that must distinguish God's house from other houses is Prayer! God's house is a house of prayer. Though many other religions also uphold the tenet of prayer, but the only house where communication takes place between the very creator of heaven and the earth and man is the house of God, which is the church of God.  This church is not a building but any place where two or more believers in Christ Jesus gather unto Him.   *For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20).*  So, it's clear that it's not every place of worship that you can call the house of God. When you see any gathering of people, to certify such gathering as God's house, you need to ask- is the LORD in their midst? or are they gathered unto the LORD? Is it indeed a house of prayer or den of ...

LIFE BEYOND APPEARANCE

TEXT: 2 Timothy 3:5. “ Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such, turn away.” Apostle Paul, writing to Timothy, warned about a dangerous trend that would characterize the last days. In Second Timothy 3:5, he concluded that people living out these signs of the end time would maintain an outward appearance of godliness but lack its transforming power. This is a sobering reminder that Christianity is not merely about religious activities, church attendance, or spiritual vocabularies, it is about having a working  relationship with Christ that produces real change. The phrase “form of godliness” suggests external religion without internal transformation. It is possible to sing worship songs, quote scriptures, and even serve in ministry, yet resist the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. The power of godliness is the power that convicts of sin, renews the mind, breaks sinful habits, and produces the fruit of the Spirit. When the power of God is at work in a b...

THE LAST DAYS 3

TEXT: 2 Timothy 3:1. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. What King James version of the bible refers to as 'perilous' is also known as difficult times. So, don't be perturbed, if you are aware that we are in the last days, then you should know that we are in difficult times. A number of features characterised this difficult times. Now, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are not caught in any of these features. Number one on the list as we have it in our Bible reading is self -love. Our world today is canvasing seriously for this self-love. Some years back, people celebrate you on your birthday, but today, we see things like "happy birthday to me". "I celebrate myself today", and so on. Now, it is good to have healthy self-love, which includes taking care of yourself, and knowing your worth in God. But to go overboard is to become a lover of self above God. To be a “lover of self” means to have an excessive, unhealth...

THE LAST DAYS - 2

TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:1. “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.” One major warning from the Spirit of God concerning these last days is the danger of deception. While speaking in Gospel of Matthew 24 about the signs of the end of the age, Jesus said, “Take heed that no one deceives you. *For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”* (Matthew 24:4–5). It should not surprise you that there are many false prophets and teachers in these last days, they are simply fulfilling prophecy. However, what you must guard against is becoming one of the many who are deceived. One major tool of deception is false teachings. The Word of God describes such teachings as doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). Beloved, beware. The devil is not trying to deceive those who already belong to him,  they are already captured. His target is God’s children. And one of his quic...

THE LAST DAYS

TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:1.  “ Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. The Spirit of God is speaking expressly, clearly, and specifically. The question is: Are you hearing clearly? One of the unmistakable warnings about the last days is that many will abandon the faith. This departure from faith will not always be dramatic or sudden; sometimes it begins subtly, - a compromise here, a neglected prayer life there, a gradual tolerance for falsehood and so on.  *To ignore what the Spirit is saying is to place yourself at a spiritual disadvantage point.* When God warns, it is not to frighten you but to prepare and preserve you. The first caution here is against abandoning your faith. Faith is not passive; it must be guarded and nurtured. The Bible tells us in Jude 1:3 to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” 'Contending' implies efforts, vigilan...

RENEWING YOUR MIND

Text: Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The mind is the centre of thoughts, the seat of emotions, the storehouse of memory, and the source of imagination. It produces all these with the help of your brain activity. The mind refers to  the thoughts, feelings and consciousness that arise from the brain's activity.  The brain is like the computer hardware, while the mind is the software. You can see and touch the computer hardware but you can't touch the software. That's the best analogy for the operations of your brain and your mind. So, when you see a mad man, people will often say, he's lost his mind. The brain (hardware) is there, but the mind(software) is no longer functioning well anymore.  *When you want to change a man's life, you need to change his mind - his centre of thought* . The scripture sometimes use the heart...

YOU WERE HEALED-2

Text : 1 Peter 2:24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed. Just as Jesus bore our sins in his own body on the tree, so also he took our infirmities and bare our Sicknesses. (Matthew 8:17). The scripture says you were healed because your healing already took place thousands of years ago. All you have to do now is to take delivery of your healing. Once upon a time, a man sick of palsy was brought to Jesus to be healed.  Jesus said to him, Son, be of good cheer, you have been forgiven of your sins. When the Scribes heard this, they said within themselves, this man blasphemes. (Matthew 9:1-3). It's obvious from the above that the Scribes ascribed the power to forgive sins only to God. Our Lord Jesus Christ then replied the people: "...That you may know that the Son of Man has power to forgive sins on earth," he said to the sick of the palsy, "arise, take u...

YOU WERE HEALED

Text : 1 Peter 2:24   *Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.**  The great physician and healer, - our Lord Jesus Christ is willing and available to heal you. He is willing to heal you within and without.  As you trust Him today,  may you find total healing for your spirit, soul and body in Jesus name. Today, we shall be looking at the invitation Jesus gave to everyone that is hurting. Jesus invited all: " *Come to me, all you who are troubled and weighted down with care, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28(BBE)".*  This is not just a scripture for sinners but for all that are sick as well. *If you are sick and burdened with infirmities, the first thing you need to do is to approach Jesus for a touch.*  The woman with the issue of blood is a good example of a hurting fellow who touched the LORD Jesus Christ in Faith and she got her he...

BE A GOOD EXAMPLE

TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:12. “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” God is looking for willing vessels who will represent Him well here on earth. In a world where standards are falling and where compromise is common, believers are called to stand out as living examples of Christ. Apostle Paul instructed Timothy not to allow anyone to look down on him because of his youth. Instead of arguing, and proving himself by force, or seeking validation from men, Timothy was to prove his maturity through character. *Your lifestyle should silence criticism and not validate it.*  Being a good example begins with your words. What you say must reflect Christ. Speak life, speak truth, and speak with grace. Your conversation, that is, your daily conduct,  should align with your confession of faith.  *Christianity is not only what we declare in church; it is what we demonstrate at home, at work...

WAIT ON THE LORD.

TEXT: Isaiah 40:31. “ But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;  they shall walk and not faint. As long as we live in this human body of flesh and blood, our strength will at times be exhausted.  Life’s pressures, responsibilities, disappointments, and daily struggles can drain even the strongest person. No one is immune to moments of weakness, fatigue, or discouragement. Therefore, everyone needs renewed strength in order to finish well and finish strong. Many people rely on different methods to remain energetic, youthful, and relevant. Physical exercise, motivational talks, social validation, or material success are some of these methods.  While these may help temporarily, the Word of God reminds us that even the youth,  those at their peak of physical energy, will still grow weary and faint.  Human strength has limits. However, there is a divine secret to unending ...

DON’T TALK TOO MUCH

TEXT: Proverbs 10:19. “ Transgression is at work where people talk too much, but anyone who holds his tongue is prudent.” One important area you must intentionally work on in this new phase of your life is the use of your tongue.  Many destinies have been delayed, damaged, or completely diverted simply because of uncontrolled speech. If you truly desire to move to your next level, you must overcome the mountain of excessive talking and careless words. Talking too much can easily lead to saying the wrong things at the wrong time. *When words are not measured, wisdom often disappears, and sin finds an open door.*  The tongue is small, yet it has the power to build or destroy, to bless or to wound, and to attract favor or invite trouble. Proverbs 17:28 reminds us of that, “ *Even a fool is thought to be wise when he remains silent; he is considered discerning when he holds his tongue.”*  Silence, when necessary, is not weakness, it is wisdom. Knowing when to speak and when t...

ARE YOU SPEAKING HIS MIND?

TEXT: Job 42:7. After these words had been spoken by the LORD to Job, the LORD spoke to Eliphaz from Teman: “My anger is burning against you along with your two friends, since you haven’t spoken correctly about me, as did my servant Job. Have you taken time to carefully read the book of Job? When you do, you will notice how eloquently and intelligently Job’s friends spoke during his season of trials. Their speeches sounded wise and logical. In fact, many of their statements are often quoted today because they appear profound and philosophical. Yet, at the end of the entire ordeal, when God Himself stepped in to judge the matter, He plainly declared that these men had not spoken correctly about Him.  Their words, though polished and persuasive, did not truly represent the heart or the mind of God. This passage is a strong reminder that *sounding spiritual is not the same as being spiritually accurate.*  It is possible to speak confidently, quote scriptures, and still misreprese...

IT IS GOD

TEXT: Isaiah 10:15  Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it? As if a rod could wield itself against those who lift it up, Or as if a staff could lift up, [as if it were] not wood! No matter the power you wield, the wisdom and intelligence you display, the riches you possess; God is still  your source. While unbelievers may not know this, you as a believer must know that all that you have is from the LORD. There is nothing you have that you have not received from the LORD. Even those who seem to have gotten Power, riches and wisdom from the devil, the truth is: God is still the one who has given them the gift of life to enjoy whatever they think they have received from the devil. God is all in all. Hence, only Him must be acknowledged, revered, adored and worshipped. This knowledge must be well entrenched in your heart: God owns all that you've got and that all the blessings you've gotten come from Him....

LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH"

TEXT: John 3:16  For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He even gave up His only begotten unique Son, so that whoever believes in trusts in, clings to, relies on Him shall not perish come to destruction, be lost but have eternal everlasting life. Today, all over the world, valentine is being celebrated as a symbol of love.  While there are different stories surrounding this celebration, the bottom line of the celebration is LOVE!  While Valentine's Day is about love, its celebration today is not so much about God's kind of love.  All sorts of artrocities and  immoralities are being committed in some quarters in the name of Love.  If the scripture says God is love (1John 4:8), then today should actually be a celebration of God's love for humanity. The problem however is that many are yet to understand what God's love is. I have often heard believers saying, "Love is not enough in relationship". If the kind of love you know is Agape, what m...

BE EFFECTIVE

TEXT: 2 Peter 1:8. “For if you possess these qualities, and if they continue to increase among you, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in attaining a full knowledge of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah.” The Word of God is very clear on how a believer can live an effective and productive life in the Kingdom.   *Fruitfulness in Christ is not accidental; it is the result of intentional spiritual growth.*   Apostle Peter, in this passage, emphasizes the importance of developing godly qualities such as faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. Now, the emphasis is not just that you are producing these virtues, but that they are increasing in your life. When these virtues are present and continually increasing in your life, they guard you against spiritual barrenness and stagnation.  A Christian who neglects growth becomes unfruitful, but the one who consistently nurtures these qualities becomes i...

DON'T BE BLIND

TEXT: 2 Peter 1:9. For the person who lacks these qualities is blind and shortsighted, and has forgotten the cleansing that he has received from his past sins. One silent weapon the enemy uses against  believers is *forgetfulness.* It is very easy for you to forget what God has done for you without even realizing it. The book of James talk about forgetful hearers. Those who hear the true gospel and forget what is it that they have heard. The unfortunate thing about this forgetfulness is that, it renders victim blind and shortsighted.  Many are blind without even knowing it. They can no longer see the hand of God in their lives, nor remember the mercy that once saved them.  Spiritual blindness does not happen suddenly; it grows quietly when gratitude fades, when prayer becomes casual, and when the Word of God is no longer treasured in the heart. Beloved, when you forget where God brought you from, you will begin to take His grace for granted. You may start relying on your ...

MAJOR IN THE MAJOR-2

TEXT: Luke 10:42. But there’s only one thing you need. Mary has chosen what is better, and it is not to be taken away from her. It's important to get somethings straight in the story of Mary and Martha. 1.) *Martha was a disciple of Christ:* . She did not just welcome Jesus into her heart, she welcomed Him into her house, thereby making it easy for her brother and sister to know the Lord too. ( Luke 10:38). If you are a disciple of Christ, then today's message is for you. Don't just receive Jesus into your life, let those around you know He is the Lord of your life.  Open your home to others and let them meet Jesus there. Being born again is not a secret affair. Announce Him to your world. Remember, if you are ashamed of Him here, He will be ashamed of you in eternity. (Luke 9:26). 2.) *She was encumbered with service:* . Along the line, Martha was focusing more on working for God than walking with God. This is an error many of us commit so easily in our Christian journey. ...

MAJOR IN THE MAJOR

TEXT: Luke 10:42. “ But there’s only one thing you need. Mary has chosen what is better, and it is not to be taken away from her.” You can be busy without good result. *What counts is not just doing the right thing, but doing the right thing  at the right time.* Activity is not always productivity, and movement is not always progress.  In the story of Mary and Martha, Martha was occupied with many good tasks, yet she missed the most important moment -  sitting at the feet of Jesus. Many believers today are overwhelmed with schedules, responsibilities, and even church activities, yet their personal fellowship with God is suffering.  Jesus did not rebuke Martha for serving; He corrected her for being overwhelmed with it. Service is good, but devotion is better. When you major in what heaven considers minor, you end up exhausted and unfulfilled.  But when you major in the major, which is God’s presence, His Word, and His voice, every other aspect of life finds alig...

WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?-3

TEXT: Matthew 6:21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Yesterday, we looked at the first man who stored his treasure here on earth. He chose earthly riches over eternal life.  Today, we shall be looking at the second man who chose salvation and store up his earthly treasure in exchange for eternal life. While the first man was very religious, the second man was a tax collector, an outright sinner. It is important to note that where you keep your treasure also determines where you will eventually end up. Zacchaeus was a chief among the publicans and he was very rich. He sought to see Jesus but he could not due to the press around him and as a result of his small stature.  In view of his stature, he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree so as to gain a height and positional advantage. Jesus saw him, asked him to come down and he followed him home. You can imagine the kind of effort a rich man and a chief tax collector put in, in order to see Jesus. He...

WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE?

TEXT: Matthew 6:21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Every man on this earth, be it rich or poor has got a treasure.    *To know what and where a man's treasure is, you only need to check the man's heart- the heart essentially shows where your treasure is.*  Our Lord Jesus Christ highlighted two different places where you can lay up your treasure. The place you decide to keep your treasure is where your heart would be.  You could store up your treasure in heaven or on earth. Jesus however advised that you store up in heaven. This is to ensure that your treasure is safe and that your heart journeys upward to God in heaven.  That's the reason God is saying to you in Colossians 3:2 to *"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.(Colossians 3:2)".*  If your treasure are not kept in heaven above, you can't and won't be able to set your mind on things above.  *Where your mind goes, your heart follows.*...

HE IS INTENTIONAL 2

TEXT: Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for well-being, and not for calamity, in order to give you a future and a hope.” Our God is a detailed and meticulous God. He is so meticulous that the depth of His works is beyond human comprehension. Nothing about your life is random or overlooked.  Many times, the enemy may whisper, “You are just one out of billions; God may not really notice you.” But that is a lie from the pit of hell. You are not lost in the crowd with God. You are known, seen, and deeply valued by Him. When you reflect on how God formed you in your mother’s womb, you will realize that it takes an intentional Creator to create a being like a you. Your existence is not an accident; it is a divine design. In Psalm 139, David beautifully expressed this truth he says: *“For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderf...

HE IS INTENTIONAL

TEXT: Jeremiah 29:11.  “ For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for well-being, and not for calamity, in order to give you a future and a hope.” You are not a product of chance. You did not just appear on earth by coincidence,  your existence is not an afterthought in God’s mind.  Long before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God already had you in His plans. (Jeremiah 1:5.). Heaven is not confused about your life; God is deliberate, detailed, and purposeful concerning you. Human beings may make mistakes, parents may err in decisions, doctors may give wrong reports, and society may label you incorrectly,  but none of these cancels God’s intention for your life.  What people call an error, God can turn into a testimony. What looks like a delay to men may actually be divine preparation in God’s agenda. You are never a mistake in the hands of a perfect Creator. There are seasons when life may seem to be working against you. Doors ...

THE FEAR AND KNOWLEDGE OF GOD 2

TEXT: Proverbs 9:10. “ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.” The fear of the Lord is not about being terrified of God; rather, it is about having deep reverence, honour, and respect for Him. It is an awareness of His greatness, His holiness, and His authority over our lives.  When a person truly fears God, their decisions, words, and actions begin to reflect that reverence. Such a life naturally attracts wisdom because wisdom begins where God is acknowledged. Knowledge of God goes beyond merely knowing about Him. It is not just head knowledge gained from books or sermons; it is experiential knowledge built through relationship, obedience, prayer, and meditation on His Word.   *Many people know scriptures, yet few truly know God.* True knowledge of God transforms the heart, renews the mind, and shapes character. Proverbs 2:2 tells us that “Making your ear attentive to wisdom, and turning your heart to understandin...
