TEXT: Proverbs 10:19.
“Transgression is at work where people talk too much, but anyone who holds his tongue is prudent.”
One important area you must intentionally work on in this new phase of your life is the use of your tongue.
Many destinies have been delayed, damaged, or completely diverted simply because of uncontrolled speech. If you truly desire to move to your next level, you must overcome the mountain of excessive talking and careless words.
Talking too much can easily lead to saying the wrong things at the wrong time. *When words are not measured, wisdom often disappears, and sin finds an open door.*
The tongue is small, yet it has the power to build or destroy, to bless or to wound, and to attract favor or invite trouble.
Proverbs 17:28 reminds us of that, “ *Even a fool is thought to be wise when he remains silent; he is considered discerning when he holds his tongue.”*
Silence, when necessary, is not weakness, it is wisdom. Knowing when to speak and when to keep quiet is a mark of maturity and self-control.
A person who can control his tongue demonstrates a high level of discipline and spiritual growth.
James 3:2 expresses this truth clearly:
*“For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.”*
When you master your speech, you are on the path to mastering other areas of your life as well.
Let your words be few, thoughtful, and seasoned with grace.
Speak to encourage, to guide, and to glorify God, not merely to be heard. Remember, once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back.
