JETHRO

Text : Exodus 18:8. Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians on Israel’s behalf, all the hardships that they had encountered along the way, and how the LORD had delivered them. Jethro was the father in law to Moses and he was a midianites' Priest. He did something worthy of emulation when he paid his son in law, Moses, a visit in the wilderness. Jethro didn't witness the ten mighty wonders God performed in Egypt before the Israelites could be allowed to leave their land of slavery. Jethro was not there when God parted the red sea for the Israelites to pass through. All Jethro heard was testimony of God's great deliverance and goodness. Yet, hear his response to these testimonies - _Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other gods, because of what happened to the Egyptians when they acted arrogantly against Israel.”_ Exodus 18:11. Jesus told Thomas in John 20:29 that, **Is it because you’ve seen me that you have believed?...

KEPT FROM EVIL

Text: John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. When Jesus was about to leave the face of the earth after his earthly ministry, He began to intercede for  his disciples(this includes you). Today, we shall be looking at one of the prayer points of Jesus Christ for you. Jesus knew that this world is under the influence of the devil, and by implication subjected to evil.  Though He knew the depth of the evil in this world, yet He asked the Father to keep us in this world. The world is such a messed up place but the Lord would still have His disciples stay here for His purpose to be fulfilled. He however asked the Father to keep you from the evil.  The implication of our text (John 17:15) is that the whole world lies in darkness and wickedness (evil) that taking you out of this world immediately after you became born again wouldn't have been a bad idea, but Jesus considered that you must keep on shin...

WHAT'S THAT TO YOU?

Text: John 21:22  Jesus replied, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me."  *"The best way to mind your own business is to keep your nose out of someone else's." - Unknown.*  One major lesson the Lord would have us learn and adapt to as the year begins, is to mind  our own business.  To stay out of gossip and backbitting, you may need to pass every information through the litmus test of- "What is that to me?" By simply asking your self this simple question (what is that to me?) everytime you are listening to someone or about to pass an information, you will soon find out how to focus more on your purpose here than meddling in other people's affairs. When Jesus appeared to the disciples in John chapter 21, He focussed His attention on Peter, asking him to follow Him. Turning around, Peter saw the disciple (John) whom the Lord loved, and he asked the Lord- "What about him?". Jesus simply rep...

DON'T MURMUR

Text : Exodus 15:26. He said, “If you will carefully obey the LORD your God, do what he sees to be right, listen to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, then I won’t inflict on you all the diseases that I inflicted on the Egyptians, because I am the LORD your healer.” I believe the Israelites' journey from the land of slavery to the promised land was recorded so we could learn from their errors and avoid committing same. Just three days after God performed a miraculous deed that no one has heard of before, the Israelites  encountered another challenge. (Exodus 15:22-23). Prior to that time, it was never heard in human history that the sea can divide into two to pave way for a road where over two thousands people can cross over to the other side. They couldn't swim through, there was no bridge to pass through and they couldn't turn back. Their enemies were just right behind them and will be too eager to finish them. Three days after God parted the sea for them, they ...

YOUR STRENGTH

https://hisvoicedevotional.blogspot.com His Voice Devotional THUR Text : Exodus 15:2. The LORD is my strength and song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God and I’ll praise him,   the God of my father and I’ll exalt him. There's a connection between joy and strength. This explains why Proverbs 17:22 says, *A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit drains one’s strength.* Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is your strength.  In this new year, one thing that will keep you going is the strength that comes from the Lord. Moses realized this too well. He said, 'the Lord is my strength.' You must know this truth and be well established in it, even as this new year unfolds. David said the same thing in Psalms 27:1. He said,  *The LORD is my light and my salvation—   whom will I fear?   The LORD is the strength of my life;  of whom will I be afraid?*  What is the strength of your life? Or Who is the strength of your life...

SING UNTO HIM

Text : Exodus 15:1. Then Moses and the Israelis sang this song to the LORD: “I’ll sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has thrown into the sea. You made it into the new year! Glory to God in the highest!!!  We are alive today because He kept us till this time, the least we can do is to give Him praise. The year 2024 came with its ups and downs, but the faithfulness of God brought us this far. Despite the economic conditions everywhere, God saw you through, He's worthy of our praises. The first thing Moses and the whole Isreal did after God gave them victory over Pharaoh and his armies was to sing unto the Lord.  Just as He did it for the Israelites, He has done it for you too. The horse and its riders He has thrown into the sea. The sickness and disease that was threatening to take your life in 2024 has gone with 2024. The insufficiencies, the sorrows, the pains and the insecurities of 2024 has gone with 2024. So why would you not sing unto ou...
