HIGH FEVER

Text: Luke 4:38-39. And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.* *And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. If Peter's mother in-law had gone to the hospital, she would have been diagnosed of high fever, and the diagnosis would have been correct. But the root cause of her sickness was actually spiritual. The spiritual rules the physical.Medically, sicknesses are treated, but spiritually demons responsible for sicknesses and diseases are rebuked. Jesus rebuked the fever and it left.  God is concerned about our whole being. He is concerned about your physical well-being. He made adequate provision for our health in the salvation package. He  said in Exodus 15:26 that, If you wil diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give e...

SUBMIT AND RESIST

Text: James 4:.7. Therefore, submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you. Devil is always going to and fro looking for whom to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 says, *Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.*  So, the devil is not resting, he's always looking for prey. God once asked Satan where he was coming from in the book of Job, the discourse goes thus: The LORD asked Satan, “Where have you come from?”, Satan told the LORD, “From wandering all over the earth and walking back and forth throughout it.”(Job 2:2). So, it is clear that Satan is always roaming about, and he roams even in the congregation of children of God. But imagine a situation where the devil is running away from you. Yes, the word of God says when you do these two things, the devil will run away from you. First, submission! You must submit yourself to God, God can only keep you and fight on your behalf when you h...

DAYS OF NOAH

Text : Matthew 24:38.  In those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage right up to the day when Noah went into the ark. The people in the days of Noah had no history to refer to, they used their lives to form history for us. A number of events that were recorded in the Bible were so recorded so that we can learn from them. The truth is, this generation is blessed. We are so blessed that we are without excuse.  Romans 2:1 says, *Therefore, you have no excuse—every one of you who judges. For when you pass judgment on another person, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, practice the very same things.*  Jesus says, just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. In those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage right up to the day when Noah went into the ark. They were unaware of what was happening until the flood came and swept all of them away....

WAKE UP

Text : Romans 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. God is calling out to you this day to wake up from your sleep. The singular reason for which we must awake out of sleep is because our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. This salvation talks about our ultimate and final joining with the LORD forever. Are you getting ready for this flight?  There are too many preachers that are holding people down in deep sleep here on earth by the kind of messages they are preaching, and that is the reason we need revival now. This is not a message only for unbelievers out there but for every believer in Christ Jesus, and for those that are deep in the sleep of sin and unrighteousness. Jesus is coming back, wether while you are alive or when you are no more on earth, you will surely see him. When he appears all saints that have slept (died) in him shall be raised, but those tha...

PERFECT PEACE-2

Text : Isaiah 26:3  Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee. The word 'shalom' which is translated into Peace can also mean completeness,  soundness, or total wholeness.  In the beginning, when God placed man in the garden of Eden before the fall, man had full shalom. Nothing could trouble or make Adam and Eve to be afraid. They had peace within themselves, with each other, with their environment (all other creations and creatures) and most importantly they had peace with God. To be at peace within yourself and without will always mean soundness and wholeness. This was what the devil made man to lose as a result of disobedience. Immediately sin sets in, man lost his Shalom. So, the major reason Jesus came was to take away that which has been depriving man of Shalom (Peace). Jesus Christ is the lamb that takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29). The very sin that disrupted man's Shalom has been dealt with.  Ther...

PERFECT PEACE

Text : Isaiah 26:3  Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee. The two words 'perfect and peace' in our study text are direct transliteration of the word Shalom in Hebrew. So you can safely read the text thus: "Thou will keep him in Shalom Shalom whose mind is stayed on thee..." It's a double doze of Peace for as many that would put their trust in the Lord. God's promise for everyone whose mind is stayed on Him is Peace, Peace- Shalom Shalom! Praise God! We have Peace in abundance. Peace is one of the fruit of the Spirit. Hence, true peace is not what any man can achieve by his own effort. It takes the workings of the Spirit on the inside of a man to bring about peace.  Though this world also offers her own kind of peace, but  such peace is a temporal one. It cannot sustain one's ship in the midst of storm (Mark 4:39). Anyone who truly follows Jesus Christ has been guaranteed of Peace. Jesus said,  "P...

DIVINE DIRECTION

Psalms 37:23.  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Everyone needs direction in life, but more importantly, everyone needs divine direction in life. Have you ever been misled while seeking for direction to a place before? It can be very frustrating. But what is more frustrating is to lack God's direction in life. Jeremiah 10:23 says, _O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps_ Yes, man lacks the capacity to correctly direct his own steps in life. Man lacks the ability to correctly control his own life. Only the Lord can order the steps of man in the right path and in the path of destiny. However, God will not order everyone's steps, He will only order the steps of those who surrender to Him. Eliezer, Abraham's servant who was saddled with the responsibility of looking for a wife for Issac, (Abraham's son,)  committed his ways to the Lord and God ordered his steps arig...

THE "IF'S" LOVE

Text : John 15:10  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. Today, we shall begin by looking at Grace and Truth which was brought to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. And we shall gradually conclude with our study text in the coming days. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the gospel of grace and not of works. This simply means that no one is saved by works but by grace. The scriptures says *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8 & 9).*  While we are not saved by works, it is worthy to note that the grace of God that saved us, is a call away from both licentious and legalistic lifestyle. This grace of our Lord Jesus Christ therefore bestows on you as a believer the liberating power of the Holy Spirit from the penalty and power of sin. Many preachers have deliberately ignor...

WORDS

Text : Matthew 12:37. Because by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Words are very important. The heaven and the earth were created by words - the word of God. Hebrews 11:3 says, Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. The things we can see now were made by words which we cannot see. Now, you can say this is the word of God, and that is why it is that potent. However, the same word of God says, by your own words you will either be justified or condemned. Matthew 12:37. Your words are important, and your words are powerful. Proverbs 18:21 says, *Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.* That is, with your words, you can reap either life or death. With his words, the thief on the right hand of God received everlasting life at the point of death through his words. (Luke 23:40-43). This g...

THE "IF'S" OF LOVE 2

Text : John 15:10  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. God's love for the world was made manifest through Jesus Christ who is grace and truth. So, we can safely say that God's love is the manifestation of grace and truth.  Therefore, God's unconditional love was made manifest to the world through the offering of His only begotten Son. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.(John 3:16).  The scriptures also highlighted God's unconditional love in Romans 5:8 saying that  God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Many believers  simply stay on these and more scriptures to build up the doctrine of God's unconditional and extravagant love. Yes they are right! But to abruptly neglect the 'IF's' of the LOVE of God, while...

GOOD WORKS-3

Text : Matthew  5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Without the shining of your light, your good works cannot be seen by men, and when you are not in light, you cannot do any good works.  Jesus Christ  once said, "...I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (John 8:33). It is clear from this scripture that only the followers of Jesus Christ are in the light. And that's the reason He said we are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14). In the true sense of it, no man can truly do any acceptable good works  without being in Christ Jesus and led by His Spirit. The scriptures made it very clear in Acts chapter 10 that good works without Christ cannot save a man. There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who...

GOOD WORKS-2

Text :  Act 9:36.  Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. It is important to know that *believers are not saved by good works but unto good works.* The scriptures made it clear in Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 & 9 that we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. Humanity generally believes that good works bring salvation and God's favour,  but that's not God's standard. All your good works cannot save you in the end if they are not the bye-product of the salvation which you have received from the Lord. So, it has to be first thing first! You must receive the good works of Christ first before your own good works can be acceptable before the Lord. If you reject the good works of salvation which Christ has brought to all humanity, then whatever good works you may think you are doing will be a waste. In Acts 10:38, the scripture says, "......

THESE THINGS

Text : John 16:33.  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. There's a reassuring word in our text today from Jesus Christ our master, to you as a person. And the word is PEACE. He said, 'in Him you will have peace'. But before that He opened the statement by saying, "these things I have spoken unto you..." Jesus is still speaking today. But the question is, are you listening to Him? What has Jesus spoken to you? And what are you doing with what He has spoken to you? For every situation you are in, Jesus has a word for you. Today, Jesus is speaking to you through His Holy Spirit and through His words. He said in John 16:13 that , *Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.*  To have peace in...

VALIANT WARRIOR

Text : Judges 6:12.  The angel of the LORD appeared to him and told him, “The LORD is with you, you valiant warrior!” God called Gideon a valiant warrior because that is who he was destined to be, but he didn't see himself in that light at all. Like Gideon, many of us are fed up with the evil that surround us, yet it hasn't occurred to us that the miracle we have been praying for already lies within us. You can always tell the size of a man's greatness by the size of problem that comes his way. But a man's victory is not determined by his size but by his understanding of his true identity. David was able to kill Goliath not because he was bigger than Goliath in size, but he was way bigger than Goliath in heart, and because he had a true understanding of who he was. David told the Philistine, “You come at me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied.1 Samuel...

TEACH THEM LORD!-3

Text:Isaiah 54:13. I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace. Yesterday, we looked at the three institutions that God can use to raise Godly children; which are the home (not necessarily your biological home), the Church (not the building but the body of Christ) and the Christian Schools. The first two are directly instituted by God while He allowed the third one   to be established by His  children.  Home, Church and Christian schools are God's transformative platforms in our society today. When all these three fail in the life of a child, such child cannot be redeemed by any other institution on earth. The failure of these three in a child's life will inevitably lead to a  colossal and eternal  loss for such a child. When God says that He will teach your children, He is going to achieve that with the cooperation of these three transformative agents. The very fundamental of these three is the home, it is because of the failure of the ...

TEACH THEM, LORD!- 2

Text:Isaiah 54:13. I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace. It is important for every parent to know that it is only with the help of the Lord that they can raise  goodly and godly children. Hence, if  parents do not know the Lord, such  parents cannot do justice to Godly parenting.   *No matter how educated or disciplined ungodly parents may be, they cannot raise godly children, because you can't give what you don't have.*  It is clear that it will only take God's intervention for a child under ungodly parents to be raised as a godly child. Although, God's major institution for raising goodly and godly children is the home, but in a situation where the home has failed, God will be counting on the church and the Christian school to bridge the gap.  The church is God's major interception for raising goodly and Godly children. Church leaders must know this fact. This is the reason  children and youth ministry must not be taki...

TEACH THEM, LORD!

https://hisvoicedevotional.blogspot.com His Voice Text:Isaiah 54:13. I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace. One of the major challenges many parents are facing in this adulterous generation is how to raise goodly and godly children. While it is certain that ungodly parents cannot raise a godly child, It is however disturbing why many children from godly parents are being unruly and wayward. You will be appalled when you  hear about the artrocities being committed by young ladies and men that were raised within the confines of the church building and godly home. You will often wonder where the parents missed it.  Many parents have tried all they could to raise goodly and godly children, without getting the desired result. They have tried many means but all to no avail.  Today, aside Proverbs 22:6 that talks about training up a child in the way he should go, I want to highlight another major medium you can employ in raising goodly and godly childre...

GO AWAY SATAN

Text : Matthew 4:10. Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! Because it is written,   ‘You must worship the Lord your God   and serve only him.’” The devil took Jesus to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, along with their glory, then, he told Him, “I will give you all these things if you will bow down and worship me!”. This account is recorded in Matthew 4:8&9.  From this record, it's clear that the kingdoms of this world has 'glories', and the devil is the one in charge of them all.  He promised to give Jesus both the kingdoms and their glory only if He would bow down and worship him. Without mincing words, Jesus told Satan to go away with his kingdoms and their glories. Can you imagine what Jesus actually turned down? If the devil's proposal wasn't tempting enough, he wouldn't have used it to tempt the King of Glory Himself.  Can you also say 'go away' to that man and his ungodly offer? Can you boldly say 'go away...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

DO NOT DOMESTICATE YOUR PAUL

Can you imagine a situation where Apostle Paul sat back in Jerusalem after his encounter with the Lord in Acts chapter 9? What would have happened to the community of gentiles in his days? Who would have written about 13 or 14 of the 27 books of the new testament? who would have brought us the gospel of grace. All these and more are the questions that readily come to mind if the church in Antioch had not approved Paul’s missionary Journey as instructed by the Holy Ghost?  (Acts 13). You can further imagine the great mismatch Apostle Paul would have been to himself and the church, if he had been ordained the Arch. Bishop of “Antioch Church International” a.k.a “Jesus Open Vision Ministries”. Of course, God’s purpose for the gentiles would have been accomplished by another, or worse still, it would have been delayed and many would have perished in the cause of time. We must not be deceived to believe that God will do anything on earth without active participation of His children....

IT IS WRITTEN

Text :  Matthew 4:4. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. I know you are familiar with Jesus' temptations in the wilderness, but let's look into these three temptations one after the other. The first temptation- _And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread._ Matthew 4:3. After fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, Jesus finally became hungry, then, the tempter came. A number of times, the devil always tempt us using what we desire.James  1:14 says, *But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.* So, watch your desires.  Another thing the tempter always do is to question your identity in God.  When he went to our first parents - Adam and Eve, he told them they will be like gods if they should eat of the tree God told them not to. Genesis 3:5. You'll recall that they were God's a...

TEMPTATION

Text : Matthew 4:1. After this, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil . After Jesus had been baptized, he immediately came up out of the water. Suddenly, the heavens opened up for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him. Then a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with him!” Matthew 3:17. Immediately after this, Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness. The Holy Spirit led our master into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. It is the work of the devil to tempt. While God may be using a situation to test you, the devil will be using the same situation to tempt you.  God permitted you to be tested so He can give you promotion, the devil brings temptation your way so you can be demoted in the spirit realm. James 1:2 says, _My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let...

JETHRO

Text : Exodus 18:8. Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians on Israel’s behalf, all the hardships that they had encountered along the way, and how the LORD had delivered them. Jethro was the father in law to Moses and he was a midianites' Priest. He did something worthy of emulation when he paid his son in law, Moses, a visit in the wilderness. Jethro didn't witness the ten mighty wonders God performed in Egypt before the Israelites could be allowed to leave their land of slavery. Jethro was not there when God parted the red sea for the Israelites to pass through. All Jethro heard was testimony of God's great deliverance and goodness. Yet, hear his response to these testimonies - _Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other gods, because of what happened to the Egyptians when they acted arrogantly against Israel.”_ Exodus 18:11. Jesus told Thomas in John 20:29 that, **Is it because you’ve seen me that you have believed?...

KEPT FROM EVIL

Text: John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. When Jesus was about to leave the face of the earth after his earthly ministry, He began to intercede for  his disciples(this includes you). Today, we shall be looking at one of the prayer points of Jesus Christ for you. Jesus knew that this world is under the influence of the devil, and by implication subjected to evil.  Though He knew the depth of the evil in this world, yet He asked the Father to keep us in this world. The world is such a messed up place but the Lord would still have His disciples stay here for His purpose to be fulfilled. He however asked the Father to keep you from the evil.  The implication of our text (John 17:15) is that the whole world lies in darkness and wickedness (evil) that taking you out of this world immediately after you became born again wouldn't have been a bad idea, but Jesus considered that you must keep on shin...
