FEAR HAS TORMENT

Text: 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear,: because fear has torment. He that fears us not made perfect in love_ .  Fear of danger or anything  actually kills faster than the actual danger. Some years back when I  was in the secondary school,  one mischievous boy caused a great deal of trouble to the whole school.  From the blues, he just started shouting snake!  snake!! snake!!! Immediately everybody started running helter skelter.  One of the students jumped through the glass window and got seriously injured. Some others got head injuries, leg injuries and so on. Other students who didn't even hear the guy nor knew the reason for the pandemonium just blindly joined in the wild race.  In less than a minute,  I happened to be the only one left in the class. Not that I was not scared but I wanted to see the snake so I could run in the right direction. Later when some level of calmness was restored,  it turned out that there was no snake after all,

DO NOT FAINT

Texts:Proverbs 24:10  If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength  is small. As long as we are living on the face of the earth, we are subjected to different times and seasons of challenges. No one is exempted from these challenges. When you are confronted with any challenge ( or if you are in one now), I encourage you not to faint. Hold unto the Lord and don't give up.   The day of adversity simply means that a day will show up for you that will be quite challenging. When that day comes, you must know that it is also part of the days the Lord has made. Some only love good days of celebrations, promotions, fun and enjoyment. They don't like a day of adversity. Nobody really does anyway. But we surely do have challenging times at some point in life.   One thing that the day of adversity does is to reveal your strength. It is the day of adversity that measure the size of your strength: small or big. If you fail in that day, your strength is small, but if you stand in th

THE KING'S WORD

Text: Ecclesiastes 8:4  Where the word of a king is, there is power, and who may say unto him, what doeth thou? The world is largely ruled by words. But words carry different strength and capacities. The strength of the words is in the Speaker. When a king pronounces a word, it becomes a law. That was the position the three Hebrew men found themselves thousands of years back in Babylon. (Daniel 3).   A King by the name Nebuchadnezzar ruled in Babylon. He was not a small king at that time. He ordered that his graven image be worshipped at the sound of the trumpet, and automatically, it became a law. But these three Hebrew men refused to buy his idea of compulsory idolatry. Long story short, they were to face the King's wrath. In this situation, no one can deliver them from the fury of the king except a higher authority. All Glory to God that these men were connected to the King of kings. He is the only one that can overrule the verdicts of any king or any authority. Is there

END OF FAITH

Text: 1 Peter 1:9  Receiving the end of your faith ,which is the salvation of your soul. There are five key-words in our text above that we need to take a second look at :   1. Receiving: Well, this is a present continuous tense which depicts that what we are looking at is ongoing. Also, receiving means to take something that is being offered. As a receiver, you can either accept or reject.   2. End : There is no end without beginning or starting point. Obviously, the starting point in this regard is the day you begin your Christian journey. By that I mean the day you had a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, by giving your life to Him, and not necessarily the day you started going to church or reading Bible. Invariably, the 'end' in that text suggests that being born again is not the destination, but the beginning of a journey with an end in view.  3. Your Faith : The bone of contention is "your faith." Your faith is the conviction you had when you newly gave yo

TURNING POINT

Text : Genesis 41:40  You will be over my house, and all my people will obey your commands, only with regards to the throne will I be greater than you .  Today, the Lord wants to address someone who is not satisfied with his present position because he knows there is a better and higher place for him or her. God is more interested in taking you higher than you are. Hence, He has orchestrated a number of events that will ultimately launch you into the higher ground.  However, the pathway to success always come with lots of challenges and difficulties.    The story of Joseph was a good case study in this discourse. He endured unhealthy rivalry from his brothers and later experienced harsh betrayal from these same brothers. He was sold into slavery, he was lied against while faithfully discharging his duties and was eventually imprisoned. His only offence was that he refused to compromise the standard of God for a fleeting enjoyment. The turning point came for him when one day he woke up

THE POOR

Text:  Proverbs 17:5 The one who mocks the poor insults his Maker,  and the one who rejoices over calamity will not go unpunished.  The poor needs no definition,  when you see one you will know. Jesus Christ said, the poor you will always have with you(Mark 14:7). So, the poor are always around.  The question therefore is, what are you doing with the poor?  Don't be quick to mock anyone. Specifically, the word warns you not to mock the poor, because  that's as good as insulting your Maker. The following are God's instructions concerning the poor: 1. Intentionally leave a portion of your produce to the poor and stranger to benefit from. Leviticus 19:10, 23:22. 2. Don't oppress your employee, (or anyone who renders you service)  especially the Poor ones. Deut. 24:14.proverbs 28:27 3. Show pity to the Poor,  because in so doing you are lending to the Lord. Proverbs 19:17. 4. Don't rob a Poor man and don't take advantage of the Poor, for the Lord will take up their

ANOTHER COMFORTER(3)

Text: John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Are you comfort less? Are you helpless? Are you tired, confused and worn out? Are you running out of patience?  If you fall in any of these categories, then you need the comfort of the Comforter. The word comfortless in Greek means orphan. That is the reason HSCB renders the verse thus "I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you". An orphan is truly a comfortless individual. Having to live in this "cold world" without Father and Mother can be a very pathetic situation.  So Jesus was saying in essence that, He would not leave us an orphans. If you are an orphan reading this piece, I want to tell you that you have the comfort of the Holy Ghost today. And if you are not one, we all have the comfort of the comforter available to us. No matter your situations now, the Holy Ghost will bring you comfort.  He will do for you what your Father and Mother can't do for you.  Holy Ghost is not al

ANOTHER COMFORTER(2)

Text : John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;_  For Jesus to have promised "Another Comforter," it simply means that He Himself is  a COMFORTER. But he needed to go in order to multiply Himself in all  His disciples(You and I). Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; It is *expedient* for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. (John 16:7). While Jesus was here bodily on earth, He can only be in one place per time. He can't be at every where at the same time. He can only provide comfort to a limited number of people per time. But now, the comforter He sent us is everywhere concurrently. The comforter is God, the Holy Spirit. While He is with me, He is also  with you wherever you are now.  All that Jesus did during His earthly ministry was as a result of the Help He Himself received from the Holy Spirit. How God anoin

ANOTHER COMFORTER(1)

Text : John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; When the disciples heard about Jesus' departure, they were full of sorrow and fears. So He issued them a profound statement to allay their fears. He said to them "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you"(John 14:18) The disciples had enjoyed some comforts, supernatural protection, provisions and deliverance while Jesus was around. Peter's mother in-law was healed of fever instantly, the disciples were delivered from shipwreck, their financial obligations were met.  The disciples enjoyed all-round help and comfort because Jesus was around.  In view of the privileges the disciples had been enjoying because of Jesus' presence, they were filled with sorrows when they heard that He would be leaving them(John 16:5-7). The same comforting news Jesus gave them over 2000 years ago, is still applicable to you and me today: *I WILL NOT LEA

LET THERE BE LIGHT

Text: Genesis 1:3 And God said,  Let there be light : and there was light .  From the very beginning,  we were made to understand the following : 1. That the earth was formless and empty.  2. Darkness was upon the face of the deep.  3. The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:2. Then,  God stepped into the scene. His intent was to deal with the formlessness, emptiness and darkness that was prevalent prior to that time.Though,  He is God,  yet,  He couldn't do anything until He called light forth.  Hence, the very first thing God created or spoke into existence was light. When light came the following things took place : 1. Goodness : Light  always bring goodness. God saw the light and said "it was good". Goodness is always preceded by light.  If there's any aspect of your life that you desire to experience goodness, then,  it's time to allow   the reality of what God did at the beginning to repeat itself in your life.  Invite His Light into t

BETTER THAN THE PHARISEES

Text: Matthew 5:20.  _For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, Ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven._  Jesus Christ said emphatically that except your righteousness exceeds that of the Scribes and Pharisees, you can't enter into the kingdom of heaven. That's a huge statement.  On several occasions, Jesus Christ condemned the behavior of the scribes and Pharisees, yet He acknowledged the fact  that they had some degrees of righteousness. That is why He said let your righteousness surpass theirs.  As a matter of fact, a number of the new generation believers doesn't even match-up to these guys in terms of right living. They give alms regularly, they pray frequently, they fast frequently and so on. However, God expects more from you. The bottom line of their righteousness is based on hypocrisy and showmanship. The bottom line of your righteousness should be centered on Christ. Jesus in Matth

THE UNGODLY

Text: Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,  nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful One sure way to be a blessed man is to avoid the way of the ungodly.  I know if you saw a road with the caption "this way to the ungodly estate," you wouldn't want to walk in it. However,  the ungodly doesn't carry a caption around. Now,  the right question to ask is,  who are the ungodly? The book of Psalms chapter one has only six verses,  but the word 'ungodly' was mentioned four times in it. So let's see what this chapter has to say about the ungodly. 1. They carry counsel, advice and ideas that are contrary to the law of the Lord. Psalms 1:2. Any counsel or advice you get that is at variance with the word, is coming from the ungodly, regardless of who the speaker is. 2. They are like chaff which the wind drives away. (Psalms 1:4). Anyone who is easily carried away with every wind of doctrine

HE NEVER SLEEPS

Text: Psalms 121:4 Behold,  he who watches over Israel neither sleeps nor slumbers. Our God is the only one who neither sleeps nor slumbers, and He's watching over you. Every other gods will not only sleep but they will die too. It will be anormally if He is not sleeping and you are not sleeping too. He said He gives His beloved sleep(Psalms 127:2). The first part of that verse says, " it is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late,  to eat the bread of sorrow" What could be more vain  than this-waking up  early  and sitting up late,  yet eating the bread of sorrow.  What a Vanity!!! Bread of sorrow is when anxiety and fretting is  associated with your work. And even the so-called rich people are not exempted from this bread of sorrow. The bread of sorrows is the pressure you experience for any aspect of your provisions  and well being when you trust only in your ability to provide. The Amplified version of this verse, psalms 127:2 says ".......for He gi

His WILL

Text: John 4:34 Jesus said unto them,  My meat is to do the Will of Him that sent me and to finish it.  Jesus Christ our Lord, didn't mince word about what His mission was.  He said my meat(Assignment) is to do the Will of Him who sent Him and to finish it. Embedded in this assignment is the need to establish His (father's)  will on earth.  The very first thing Jesus thought us to pray for in the Lord's prayer is the issue of His kingdom and His Will.  Matthew 6:10. He came to do His will and to establish His will on earth.  Anyone who is not committed to doing His will here on earth, has no part in His kingdom.  Not everyone that says Lord,  Lord,  shall enter into the kingdom of heaven : but he that does the WILL OF MY FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN. matthew 7:21. Until His will becomes your meat, and what you live to pursue and to consummate, you may be among those that will be categorized as workers of iniquity. Luke 13:27. Pray for His kingdom to come and His will to be don

ANOTHER GOSPEL

Text: Galatians 1:6 I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from Him who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning into another gospel.  What have you received? Is it the gospel or another gospel? For every good thing in this life,  there is a counterfeit. It is counterfeit because it's intended to deceive or because it carries the appearance of being genuine.  One of the best strategies of the devil is to give people another gospel. Something that looks like the good news but which is only intended to deceive.  The most difficult set of people to evangelise are the religious sect. They will tell you they are also worshipping God. And the worst of them are those with another gospel who claim to be following Christ.  Check yourself,  what you have,  is it the gospel or another gospel?  It's so easy to turn from the gospel  to another gospel,  that's why we are  told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12. To know the fake, you mu

DON'T BE LUKEWARM

https://hisvoicedevotional.blogspot.com Text:Revelation 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. If you have tasted lukewarm coffee before,  you will appreciate what Jesus was saying to the Laodicean church.   Lukewarm tea is truly what you would like to spue out of your mouth just like Jesus said.  Jesus would prefer  you to either be cold or hot. The reason for this is, He will be able to discern how to help you. You will also be easily identified for appropriate needed help.  There are so many people and churches(denominations) today that are like Laodicean church. They wear religious and lukewarm, hence they believe they do not need external help. Jesus could easily help cold sinners than a lukewarm synagogue (church) or religious sect (Pharisees and Saducees) who claim to have sight and knowledge but are blind. (John 9: 40-41). Jesus further clearly stated His demand for the Laodicean church:"....be zealous therefore

REPENTANCE (2)

Text: 2 Chronicles 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Today, we shall be looking at the steps every child of God needs to take towards genuine repentance.  We established yesterday that repentance is not a sign of weakness but an indication that you belong to God. You simply repented because you are God's. It is only God's people or those intending to become part of His people that repent. Repentance will always open the window of heaven unto you if you: 1. Humble yourself: Humility is submission to God. (1Peter 5:6). It is accepting God's judgement and assessment about yourself. It is about seeing yourself as God sees you.   2. Pray and Seek God's face: This is the meeting point with God.  It is the point at which you come before the Lord to tell him sorry for what you did wrong.  It is t

WHAT THE GENTILES SEEK

Text: Matthew 6;32 For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your Heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things* .  First, let's look into what the Gentiles seek.  Basically,  the Gentiles seek these three things according to Matthew 6:31: 1. Food.  2. Drink.  3. Clothes.  Now,  the good question to ask is, are these three things highlighted above wrong?  Was Jesus trying to say we should not eat,  drink or wear clothes? Of course,  you know the answer is No.  So what then is Jesus saying?  Man was not created to seek for survival. When Adam the first man was created, he was never designed to seek after food,  drink or clothings. Everything he would ever need was created before he(Adam) was created.  The only thing man was created to seek is God. When Adam fell, man departed from the presence of God, and started hiding from Him. Genesis 3:8 Ever since the fall,  God has been waiting for man to come back to Him. He left the invitation opened that if you seek

REPENTANCE (1)

Study Text:2 Chronicles 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Nothing brings God closer to a man than a repented, contrite and broken heart( Luke 18:10-14). Too many people that are unwilling to repent from their sins, find it easier to profess Jesus as their Saviour but never accepted His Lordship. His Lordship would demand an outright change of mindset and behaviour.  The first call and response of the early Converts, was a call to repentance. The people, having heard the gospel from the mouth of Apostle Peter were firstly pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghos

Pain Taker

*His Voice Devotionals. July 14 , 2020.   Study Text; 1 Peter 2:24.  "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed".   I know you are accustomed to the word " painkillers " but probably not so much with "pain taker". Well, the idea behind painkillers is to numb the pains in the body. Having been operated on, on two different occasions, I can boldly tell you that those drugs that are referred to as pain killers are better described as pain suspenders. Basically, the doctors administer those drugs or injections in order to numb the patient during a given period of time, so they can carry out their operation without itch. While this drugs are in effects, the patient will feel no sensation or motion in the affected area, hence, the doctors will have a field day to perform their enterprise. However, as the effect of the drug wears off, the pains set

STOP SAYING "I CAN'T

*HIS VOICE DEVOTIONAL  July 13, 2020    Text : Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me  All things means ALL. Not just easy things, or convenient things, but all things, in as much as Christ is the one strengthening you. As believers, we may be quick to make this confession( in order to boost our faith) when we desire something good for ourselves- a good job, proposing to your fiancee, going for interview and the likes. Beautiful as this is, I need you to know that you should also do same when you need to overcome terrible habits or temptation. Some years back, I was in a wrong relationship and I know God wanted me out of it, but my flesh was defiant. One fine afternoon while I was praying, I kept saying to myself that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I kept repeating this, knowing well that I was referring to that issue of breaking up with that "wrong person". And that was how I received the strength t

Coward or Warrior?

*HIS VOICE DEVOTIONAL*   July 12, 2020  Topic : *Coward or Warrior?*   Text : Judges 6: 12  Then the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said : "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior_ .  " God came to a frightened young man named Gideon. He obviously thought God was talking to someone else when the angel of the Lord called him mighty warrior! (Judges 6:12.) The Angel didn't say, "Oh, Coward, do you know you have strength?" The Angel just came in and announced what he saw, "Oh mighty man of war." In the spirit realm, you are addressed according to what has been deposited in you and not according to your circumstances or situations. When the angel said "you are a brave Warrior ," Gideon was actually separating some wheat from the chaff while trying to hide from the enemy. His position doesn't look like that of a brave man in anyway. God also saw in Peter what his parents, his friends, his colleagues and even Peter himself didn&#

WHAT IS YOUR NAME (3)

Text: Proverbs 22:1  A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. The reason our world has remained the way it is today; is simply because men have chosen riches rather than Good name. Whenever you are to choose between the two :It means that the good name is from the Lord while the riches is not from Him. But when the Lord Himself bestow riches upon you, you will not have to choose one over the other. He will freely give you riches because of the good name. But, wether you have riches or not, make up your mind to always choose a good name.  Adam and Eve (our first parents) did not earn themselves good name simply because they were decieved by the serpent to choose fleeting pleaasure. Today the whole world is still suffering from their singular action(Thanks be to our Lord Jesus). The first and most important *inheritance* you should seek to leave behind for your children is *Good Name*. Every parent must work hard at this.  Wh

WHAT IS YOUR NAME(2)

Text: Proverbs 22:1  A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.  Jacob's turn around began with a question from the Angel he wrestled with at Peniel: "And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob".(Genesis 32:27). God, often than not will name His own vessels in order to seperate them for His assignments and purposes.  He changed Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Jacob to Israel. He is not just interested in changing names but He is interested in changing IMAGE. He changed Jacob's identity and image from being a supplanter to Israel- "God Prevails"  Jacob, having gotten his name changed became a new man. He no longer answers to supplanting attitude.   Just as the new names of the Patriarchs depicts their destiny in God, so also will yours. God may not need to change your labelled name, but for sure, He is willing to change your attitude and character (The core person on the inside). Th

WHAT IS YOUR NAME?(1)

Text: Proverbs 22:1  A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.  It is quite intriguing how and why some parents just christen an innocent child any name that comes to mind. It was announced recently that a parent in Asia named their twin "Corona and Covid" This is one of the reasons why children sometimes grow up and start misbehaving. It is simply the name! Name is very important and crucial in one's life. It gives us unique identity, description and sometimes direction. One of the very first assignments Adam undertook in the garden of Eden was to give names to all the animals (Genesis 2:18-19). He thereafter named his wife "And Adam called his wife's name Eve; *because she was the mother of all living.* (Genesis 3:20).  Our text is talking about the name everyone gives to himself or herself. Whenever people calls your name, there is another name that comes to their mind which paints who you really are

PREACH THE WORD

Text: 2Timothy 4:2  Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. Preaching the gospel is not an advice given to us, rather it is a command and a commission. Jesus commanded the Disciples to go forth and preach the gospel(Mathew 28:19).   The result of their obedience today is YOU hearing and knowing about Jesus. If they had not obeyed, you and I wouldn't have had anything to do with our loving saviour and Lord- Jesus Christ. God is not just interested in few gatherings in Heaven like some people, He wants to save multitude of sinners in our world today.  Paul commanded Timothy to preach in season and out of season because *the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions* 2 Tim 4:3, Though, it is appearing this TIME Paul talked about is now, but we still have little time to go out there and rescue
