WHAT IS YOUR NAME (3)

Text: Proverbs 22:1 

A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

The reason our world has remained the way it is today; is simply because men have chosen riches rather than Good name. Whenever you are to choose between the two :It means that the good name is from the Lord while the riches is not from Him. But when the Lord Himself bestow riches upon you, you will not have to choose one over the other. He will freely give you riches because of the good name. But, wether you have riches or not, make up your mind to always choose a good name. 

Adam and Eve (our first parents) did not earn themselves good name simply because they were decieved by the serpent to choose fleeting pleaasure. Today the whole world is still suffering from their singular action(Thanks be to our Lord Jesus). The first and most important *inheritance* you should seek to leave behind for your children is *Good Name*. Every parent must work hard at this. 

What Abraham left for Isaac was not primarily riches. He left him good name and good name (Obedience to God), fetch Isaac lots of riches " _And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; *Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my* *commandments, my statutes, and my laws*_ . (Gen 26:4-5).

Several occasions have shown that Abraham chose good name over riches. He asked Lot(who was younger to him) to choose land before him. Lot seemingly chose the best land. Secondly, Abraham refused to accept anything from the King of Sodom (Genesis 14:21-24). He rather chose the good name(blessing) He had earlier received from the Lord ".... *Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth* :(Genesis 14:19) 

 There were also people who chose for themselves riches over good name. They earned their generations regrets, curses and all manner of misfortune. Gehazi, Judas Iscariot and Co are few examples of such.

Today you can make a DECISION to always choose good name over riches so that generation NEXT shall call you BLESSED.

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
