THE GARMENT-2

Image
Text :  Matthew  22:12. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Some will be speechless in heaven when they appeared there without the right garment.  Contrary to what the devil wants people to believe, God doesn't want anyone to go to hell. He made this abundantly clear in His words to us. He says in 2 Peter  3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  *God's love is shown in His patience towards this perversed and crooked generation, He's patiently waiting for sinner to repent and be saved.*  His desire is that all should repent and come to the knowledge of the truth. 1Timothy 2:4. This explains why Jesus gave an open invitation to all, to come to the wedding banquet-an Heavenly feast. None of us qualifies to be at this wedding but His mercy reached out to us

THE GARMENT

Text :  2 Peter 1:10. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; For you to make your call and election sure, you must put on the wedding garment. This garment according to Colossians 3:10 is the new man. *"And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him"*  Having been called into God's Kingdom, you must seek conformity after the image of Him that created and called you. (Romans. 8:29). Any believer that does not actively seek to be conformed to the image of Christ, may be in danger of not having his or her wedding garment on.  To have the wedding garment on, you must do the following: 1.Put on the new man (Colossians 3:10). The new man can only be renewed in knowledge. The more of His knowledge you seek, the more He will reveal you to you and show you what He want you to be. 2.Put on bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, me

FLEE

Image
Text : 2 Timothy  2:22  Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Biblically, the word "flee" means to seek safety by flight, to shun or avoid by flight something abhorrent, especially vices. We have a number of things God warned us to flee from. Until you flee from these things and submit yourself to God, the devil himself cannot flee from you. James chapter 4 verse 7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." God warned that we FLEE from the following: 1.Fornication: Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.(1 Corinthians  6:18). Joseph did not stay explaining the reason he cannot sleep with Potiphar's wife, rather he flee the appearance of evil.  So also must you do. Never stand in the place of temptation. Always flee any sight or appearance of temptation that coul

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Image
Text:John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. You say 'first things first' when you are talking about something that should be done or dealt with before anything else, because it is the most important. Knowing how to place value or priority on the most important thing in life is the most important skill you will ever have to develop as a pilgrim on this side of eternity. The first thing that ever existed in the eternity immemorial was the Word with God. So, when John chapter 1 verse 1 says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The beginning here does not refer to the beginning in Genesis chapter 1 verse 1. The beginning in John refers to the beginning that began all other beginnings, this beginning is God and can only be found in God. The point we are making is that  if the Word was in the  beginning with God, then the Word is superior and higher than every other thing on eart

CONFESSION

Image
Text: Hebrews 10:23. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. While confession could mean opening up one's sin, error, or  mistake before God or man, the confession mentioned in our text (Hebrew 10:23) is not just limited to  confession of sins or wrongs. This confession in our text derives its origin from the Greek word, 'homologeo'. which means to agree with, to concede or to profess. The scripture encourages us to hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering. Since your faith is rooted in hope which is the anchor of your soul, it is important that you keep professing God's promises without wavering.  God the Father wants you to continually profess your hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because; it is the hope of your salvation (1Thessalonian 5:8); it is the hope of eternal life (Titus 1:2); it is the hope that is laid up for you in heaven(Colossians 1:5); it is the hope of the appearing of the great

SUBMIT AND RESIST-2

Image
Text: James 4:7 Therefore, submit to God. But resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. The word  'therefore', in our text presupposes that there is a foregoing discourse before the verse number seven(7). To have a better understanding of our text, there is need to gloss over the preceding verses. Verse 1 (one) read thus "What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from the cravings that are at war within you?"  Though the book of James was written to believers in Christ Jesus, yet there were wars and fightings among them just as we have it today.  To successfully deal with something, you have to go to the root. The root of the unending quarrels and conflicts in churches, families and market place today are cravings, which is otherwise known as lusts. The right question to ask is: "*what are my cravings?"* Your cravings are your hedonistic desires. That is, desires or pleasures that you are overly devoted to, which more or less contro

PRINCE OF PEACE

Image
Text: Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor,  Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. We all long for peace. It's something we crave in our hearts, in our families and in the world around us. But true peace is not just the absence of conflicts or chaos, it is something deeper that comes from a source beyond ourselves.  That source is Jesus Christ, our Prince of Peace. He came to this earth to bring us comfort and peace, even in the midst of chaos, fears and troubles. He offers us peace that passes human understanding,  It's a peace that settles our hearts and calms our minds. (Philippians 4:7). *He is our comforter in times of trouble:*  Psalm 23:4 says, "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. No matter the challenges you are facing, Jesus

THE SOURCE-3

Image
Text: 2 Kings 2:21. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.'" The people of Jericho reported to Elisha that, the water of their city is bad and that the land is barren despite its pleasant location. Elisha knew that to bring about a lasting solution for the people,  he needed to deal with the source of the problem.   _Elisha ordered them, “Bring me a new bowl and put some salt in it.” So they brought him what he had requested._  Notice that Elisha demanded for a *new bowl* because this is very significant. Whenever God wants to save a man, He begins with a *new heart.*  God says in Ezekiel 36:26 that, *A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.* Once your heart is renewed, God will go to the source of yo

THE SOURCE

Text: 2 Kings 2:21. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness. Everything has its source, and this includes sicknesses and diseases. To deal thoroughly with a matter, you have to get to the source. This life is governed by the principle of cause and effects. A number of times, people deal with life from the angle of the "effects" alone without paying enough attention to the cause. Medically,  a doctor that knows his onions will not attempt to treat a patient without running a test to ascertain the cause of the ailment. Today, God will be opening our eyes to some salient truths as we plunge into this very important record of an event in our bible reading in order to deal with some causes and effects in our lives. For whatever reason,  Elisha decided to go live in Jericho. When he got there, _the men of the city said to Elisha, &qu

LEAVE THE GARMENT-2.

Image
Text: Genesis 39:12   ...she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and  ran outside. While Joseph's brother forcefully took his coat of many colours from him, he willingly let go of his garment in the hands of Potiphar's wife. If Joseph had not let go of his garment in the hands of Potiphar's wife, he would have fallen into sin of fornication with her.   *Don't place more value over what you will wear, drink and eat than your destiny.* Joseph never mind losing his garment. He considered his  destiny of far higher value than a mere garment. Anything the devil is offering you in place of your destiny is not worth more than a mere garment.  What is that one thing that you may not be willing to let go, even when it is hurting you? There are habits that have become like a garment that you are wearing day in, day out. You must receive strength to put off every garment that is slowing you from running the race

LEAVE THE GARMENT

Image
Text: Gen. 39:12   ...she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.  Genesis chapter 39 mentioned Joseph's 'garment' five (5) times. In the same frequency, Genesis chapter 37 mentioned Joseph's 'coat' five(5) times. There must be something peculiar about Joseph's coat and his garment that the scripture had to mention them five (5) times each. Joseph was stripped off of his coat of many colours and his garment. In the case of the coat, it was forcefully taken off from him. (Gen. 37:23); but he left the  garment in the hands of Potiphar's wife willingly. (Gen. 39:12). Putting the two scriptures above side by side, it will read thus:  _"....they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him....he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. (Genesis 37:23 & 39:12)_  In the coming days, we shall be looking at the difference between th

THE MERCIES OF GOD

Image
Text: Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.  Life can be filled with ups and downs, joy and sorrow. But amidst the twists and turns, one thing remains constant; the boundless mercies of God. This means that we can always count on God to be merciful to us,no matter what we have done or what we are going through.  *The mercies of God are more than enough to cover our sins and help us through any difficult situation* . God doesn't just offer a little bit of mercy now and then; His mercy is a never-ending fountain, flowing freely and abundantly towards us.  It's not something we earn or deserve; it's a gift, grace, demonstration of his unending love.  Every morning, His mercies are new. They're not yesterday's leftovers; they are fresh, overflowing, and ready to meet us wherever we are. Think about that for a moment. Even after a night filled with worries

DO NOT DOUBT

Image
Text:Matthew 14:30 But when he saw that the wind [was] boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" *Doubt sinks people in a sea of fear, and fear is a tormentor.*  When Peter saw the boisterous wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink. Having heard Jesus bade him come, he began to sink when he looked away from the voice of Him who has bid him to come. Doubt takes place once you loose your focus on Jesus and His words. You loose your focus on Jesus and His words when you set your gaze on the happenings around you. The word 'doubt' is coined from the Greek word 'distazo' which also mean waiver. One who doubts is like the wave of the sea. (James 1:6). When you doubt God's word,it means that your heart is shifted away from God. May the Lord give us a strong heart that does not move away from its original position in God in Jesus name. God is looking for people whose heart will stay on Him. King Asa's heart shift

THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Image
Text: JEREMIAH 3:15 And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding. A shepherd is someone who gives guidance, feeds, teaches and instructs his flock. *Every Sheep needs a true Shepherd, but not everyone who calls himself Shepherd are shepherds indeed.*  Jesus said in John  10:11 that “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." Every good shepherd must be ready to cater for the sheep even at the expense of his life. A good shepherd must be ready to feed the sheep and guide them with godly knowledge and understanding.  Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us the true definition of a shepherd and how to easily identify anyone who isn’t a shepherd in John 10:11-13, He says, “...he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep."(John‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬). We have a lot of hirelings (

MY STRENGTH

Image
Text :  Psalms  27:1. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?   Psalms 27 is believed to have been written when David was fleeing from his violently rebellious son, Absalom.  It's one thing to be betrayed, it's another thing to be betrayed by a very close and trusted friend or family member. It's always highly devastating and crumbling. Such was the kind of betrayal David experienced in the hand of his own son, Absalom. With such betrayal comes, overwhelming weakness and loss of morale. However,  David gave a good example of what should be done at such down-times. He boldly declared that: 1.) _The Lord is my light and my salvation._ *If the Lord is not your light and salvation, you will live in fear and despair.*  This life is full of ups and downs. Everyone will have his own fair share of dark moments, but if the Lord is your light and salvation, you will come out shinning.  2.) *The Lord is

TAKE YOUR PROBLEMS TO GOD.

Image
Text: Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. What do you do when you have a problem? Do you worry? Most of us do. But does worrying solve the problem? No, it doesnt. If worrying doesn’t solve the problem, then, why worry? Jabez gave us a correct model for solving problem. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10). Though he was named Jabez because of the painful situation that surrounded  his birth, but he confronted his situations and addressed it in the place of prayer. Often than not, we tend to worry about our problems instead of running to the throne of mercy to receive Grace and mercy as promised in the word of God. (Hebrews 4:16) *Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.* Jabez, instead of worryingmade God his first point of call, rather than a last resort like many people do. Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,

YOUR SALVATION

Image
Text: Philippians 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you both to will and do for His good pleasure . Salvation is the most precious gift that God has given to humanity. *It is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we have been offered the opportunity to be saved from sin and reconciled to God* . However, salvation is not just a one-time event; it is an ongoing process that requires our active participation and commitment. Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, entreated them to "work out their salvation with fear and trembling." This implies that salvation is not a passive experience but rather an active process that demands an attention and dedication. It involves daily obedience to God's words, continual growth in faith, and a conscious effort to live a life that reflects the character of C
