CONFESSION

Text: Hebrews 10:23.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

While confession could mean opening up one's sin, error, or  mistake before God or man, the confession mentioned in our text (Hebrew 10:23) is not just limited to  confession of sins or wrongs. This confession in our text derives its origin from the Greek word, 'homologeo'. which means to agree with, to concede or to profess.

The scripture encourages us to hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering. Since your faith is rooted in hope which is the anchor of your soul, it is important that you keep professing God's promises without wavering.

God the Father wants you to continually profess your hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because; it is the hope of your salvation (1Thessalonian 5:8); it is the hope of eternal life (Titus 1:2); it is the hope that is laid up for you in heaven(Colossians 1:5); it is the hope of the appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. It is this hope that purifies you even as He is pure (1John 3:3).

You must put your faith and hope in the LORD, for He who has promised is faithful. *Even when your situations appear to be hopeless and  tough, you must always remember that God never fails, hence you must remain immovable, hoping against hopelessness.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
