LEAVE THE GARMENT-2.

Text: Genesis 39:12 
 ...she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and 
ran outside.

While Joseph's brother forcefully took his coat of many colours from him, he willingly let go of his garment in the hands of Potiphar's wife.

If Joseph had not let go of his garment in the hands of Potiphar's wife, he would have fallen into sin of fornication with her. 

 *Don't place more value over what you will wear, drink and eat than your destiny.*

Joseph never mind losing his garment. He considered his  destiny of far higher value than a mere garment. Anything the devil is offering you in place of your destiny is not worth more than a mere garment. 

What is that one thing that you may not be willing to let go, even when it is hurting you?

There are habits that have become like a garment that you are wearing day in, day out. You must receive strength to put off every garment that is slowing you from running the race that is set before you. (Hebrews 12:1).

Just as Joseph flee the sight of sin, and left his garment, the blind Bartimaeus also threw away his garment and ran towards Jesus for the recovery of his sight. (Mark 10:50)

In the two cases above, we  saw that  Joseph and the blind Bartimaeus left and threw away their garments in order to escape from sin and blindness respectively.

There are also garments that you must put off because of  impurity. Joshua the high priest was clothed with a filthy garment before the angel of the Lord.

It took the mercy of the Lord to command His angel to take away the filthy garments from Joshua the High Priest. (Zechariah 31-4). Filthy garments will always prevent people from seeing and accessing the Lord. The gospel according to Matthew says that blessed are the pure in heart for they see shall God. (Matthew 5:8). Filthy garment would always hinder a person from seeing the  Lord.

May the Lord take away every filthy garment from you in Jesus name.

PRAYING MEN

Text : 1Timothy 2:8. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. God gave explicit instructions to all of His children as to how we must live our lives. Some of these instructions cut across boards, of which all of God's children must obey. However, there are some instructions that are specific to gender or portfolios. We we'll be looking at some of these instructions today.  *THE MEN* From our text, there are two distinct responsibilities God wants men to undertake, and the two are intertwined. First, God wants men to pray. The word  'men' as used in our text is not generic as to mean all human beings. It is specifically requesting that all men should pray. Yes, God expects every of His children to pray, but He specifically called men out here.  A number of times,  when prayer meetings are called, the proportion of women in attendance always outnumbered men. This is because the devil knows the import of praying men.

Text: 1 Kings 19:12 "...and after the earthquake a fire, [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice" Prophet Elijah fled after he received the life threatening message from Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, because he didn't keep himself calm before the Lord.  *Endeavouring to listen to God in difficult times is a major prerequisite to your deliverance.*  Are you faced with a life threatening situation like Prophet Elijah, the first and most important thing you need to do is: "Set yourself before the Lord for His still small voice."  *"You will be saved from many unwarranted troubles if only you will always maintain your calm before the Lord and listen to Him."*  After Prophet Elijah heard the still small voice, then the Lord asked him, "What are you doing here?"
