THE SOURCE

Text: 2 Kings 2:21.

Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the LORD: 'I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.

Everything has its source, and this includes sicknesses and diseases. To deal thoroughly with a matter, you have to get to the source.

This life is governed by the principle of cause and effects. A number of times, people deal with life from the angle of the "effects" alone without paying enough attention to the cause.

Medically,  a doctor that knows his onions will not attempt to treat a patient without running a test to ascertain the cause of the ailment. Today, God will be opening our eyes to some salient truths as we plunge into this very important record of an event in our bible reading in order to deal with some causes and effects in our lives.

For whatever reason,  Elisha decided to go live in Jericho. When he got there, _the men of the city said to Elisha, "Please notice, the situation of this city [is] pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water [is] bad, and the ground barren."_ (2 Kings 2:19).

These people took some wise steps that are worthy of emulation-

*They recognised the presence of God.*  Elisha was a representation of God's presence at that time, and when he entered their land they acknowledged him so.

You must recognise the move of God in your life, and you must recognise when He is sending His servant to you, so you don't miss your day of visitation.

God works in divers ways. At times, He positioned people around you so they can be answers to your prayers. It is your responsibility to recognise them and treat them appropriately.

Abraham would have missed the timing of God for His life had he not paid attention to the three strangers that showed up at his doorstep. Genesis 18:2.

The barren Shunemite woman became fruitful because she recognised the power of God in the life of Elisha. 2Kings 4:8-17.

The Ethopian Eunuch received his salvation because he recognised Philip as a servant of God. (Acts 8:26-40).

God has positioned His servants around you, it is your duty to recognise him and therewith receive directions.

God's messangers are easy to know, they will always exalt God and not themselves, and their words will always be in conformation with the word of God.
