FLEE

Text : 2 Timothy  2:22

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Biblically, the word "flee" means to seek safety by flight, to shun or avoid by flight something abhorrent, especially vices.

We have a number of things God warned us to flee from. Until you flee from these things and submit yourself to God, the devil himself cannot flee from you. James chapter 4 verse 7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

God warned that we FLEE from the following:

1.Fornication:
Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.(1 Corinthians  6:18). Joseph did not stay explaining the reason he cannot sleep with Potiphar's wife, rather he flee the appearance of evil.  So also must you do. Never stand in the place of temptation. Always flee any sight or appearance of temptation that could lead to fornication.

2.Youthful Lust:
2 Timothy  2:22  Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

3. Idolatry:
The word of God, through Apostle Paul instructed the church in Corinth, saying "Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry" (1 Corinthians  10:14).

4.Covetousness and Love of money:
Just as Apostle  warned Timothy to flee covetousness and love of money, so also the Lord is warning us today to flee from same. God's word says in 1Timothy 6:11 ".... O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness." It is clear from this verse that you flee from something in order to pursue another worthy course. *Until you flee the vices holding you down, you will not be able to pursue the virtue that God is calling you into.

You must ensure that you flee these four enemies of your soul in order to experience a victorious journey in your faith.

Let us FLEE into the place of Safety in Christ Jesus, our refuge! Today, God is asking you to abstain from all appearance of evil.1Th 5:22. This you will achieve by fleeing all appearance of evil.

Bible reading:

 Genesis 39:7-20.
