LEAVE THE GARMENT

Text: Gen. 39:12
...she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.

Genesis chapter 39 mentioned Joseph's 'garment' five (5) times. In the same frequency, Genesis chapter 37 mentioned Joseph's 'coat' five(5) times.

There must be something peculiar about Joseph's coat and his garment that the scripture had to mention them five (5) times each.

Joseph was stripped off of his coat of many colours and his garment. In the case of the coat, it was forcefully taken off from him. (Gen. 37:23); but he left the  garment in the hands of Potiphar's wife willingly. (Gen. 39:12).

Putting the two scriptures above side by side, it will read thus:

_"....they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him....he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. (Genesis 37:23 & 39:12)_

In the coming days, we shall be looking at the difference between the beautiful coat and garment of Joseph. But today, we shall be considering the need to let go of your coat of many colours.

*There are times when promotion into your glorious destiny would demand a forceful strip off of your former glory, in order to take you into a lasting, higher, and more glorious destiny.*

Joseph's dream and his coat of many colours would have remained and perished in Canaan, if his brothers had not sold him to the Midianite traders.

When life seems unfair, when it appears you are loosing yourself and your beautiful coat to your enemy, do not loose hope. Always remember that such is working out your glory.

Apostle Paul once said, in 2 Corinthians 4:17 that our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

Joseph's light afflictions in the hands of his brothers worked out a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory in his life.

When your dream and stand for God seem to be taking off your beautiful coat today, don't loose hope, such situation will turn around and work out your glorious future.

Are you loosing your beautiful coat to the enemies in your father's house, in your marriage, at place of work or in your community, don't worry, it's working out  your eternal weight of glory.

Don't  be bitter when your coat of many colour is  being taken from you, rather  embrace the situation in good faith, and stay hopeful, for the best is yet to come.
