TRUE INHERITANCE

Image
Text : 1 Peter 1:3&4  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you*   *Knowing what your true inheritance is, or the true inheritance to pass to your children will give you true rest from futile labour.*  While it is good to leave things behind for your children, you must however understand how to bring them into an inheritance that does not fade away. The very best inheritance that God has intended for His children is reserved in heaven for them. Every inheritance on earth is subject to corruption and defilement. Hence, you must know how to pass the right and true inheritance to your children's children.   *Only a righteous man, (not wicked man) can leave inheritance to his children's children.* Proverbs 13:22 Jesus once said; "

PRACTITIONER-2

Image
Text : Philippians 4:9 ISV  Likewise, keep practicing these things: what you have learned, received, heard, and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you. In the Kingdom of God, doing preceeds teachings. It's an aberration to teach what you are not doing. Today, we want to focus on the principle of teaching as we have it in God's  kingdom.  The book of Acts opens with the account of Jesus' acts. But notice the order in which it was recorded.   ```In my first book, Theophilus, I wrote about everything Jesus did and taught from the beginning, ```` Act 1:1 ISV. Notice that Jesus  'did' before he 'taught'. Anyone who has mastered the act of teaching what he is not practicing is not only a hypocrite but a messenger of death. 2 Corinthians 3:6 says who has also qualified us to be ministers of a new covenant, which is not written but spiritual, *because the written text brings death, but the Spirit gives life. If you are only teaching the text (the letter)

GROWING IN GRACE-2

Text :  2 Peter 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.  *Grace started you off on your salvation journey, and you can finish strong only by His Grace.*  Grace is an enabler. Grace is an unquantifiable blessing from God. *Grace is God's factor that releases and connects a man with the essence of God.* This is why it's essential for you to grow in grace so your life can be decorated with His goodness.  Yesterday,  we looked at two of the ways by which we can grow in grace, today,  we shall look into a few more.  1.) Through weakness: God takes pleasure in showcasing His glory through seemingly weak or unqualified vessels. He told us in 2 Corinthians  12:9 that, *My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness,* this is why Paul went further to say, most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. God can only

TAKE NO THOUGHT

Image
Text :Mathew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  *Jesus is not against you planning for tommorrow, but he sternly warned about you being anxious.* It is normal with average man to be full of thoughts about what tommorrow will bring or look like. People take thoughts of their future, children, financial security, retirement age, they nurse fear of  death, fear of loosing loved ones, fear of what the future holds, fear of failure, etc. All these and more are the reasons for man's labour, struggles, anxieties and confusion. Men have been held in bondage from time immemorial, but Jesus wouldn't want you to be part of this bondage anymore.  Jesus wanted His disciples (followers) to be free from Mammon. *Anyone who has been overcome by taking thoughts of tommorrow (anxiety)will certainly serve Mammon.*     Jesus wants you to see your tommorrow through God's eye. Yo

OUR SHELTER

Text : Psalms  61:3 For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. We live in critical and perilous times. The globe is being threatened in everyway possible.  Romans  8:22 says that we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. Since the fall of our first parents(Adam and Eve) in the garden of Eden, no place in this whole wide world is safe anymore. Our first parents fell out of their safe haven and exposed the whole of humanity to the world of evil. While in the garden of Eden, God was their very habitation. I believe that Eden was both a geographical and a spiritual location; an environment covered in God's full presence and glory. Today, no place in the whole wide world is safe except the secret place of the most High God, and that is, His presence-our very habitation and shelter. The kind of house you dwell in will determine the kind of protection you are liable to receive. One who lives in a woody shelter stands a danger o

THE GRACE

Image
Text :  2 Corinthians  13:14. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.   Grace is not what we share absentmindedly after a meeting, Grace is Jesus Christ, and without personal relationship with Him, you are not graced. The only one that is full of Grace is Jesus Christ. John 1:14 says And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Verse 16 of the same chapter, made us to know that we received our grace from the fulness of His grace.   _And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace._ John  1:16. So it's clear that without Jesus, you are graceless. Grace is the basis for the Christian faith. *For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:* Ephesians  2:8. God's grace is usually defined as undeserved favor. Grace cannot be earned; it is something

PRIVATE OBEDIENCE & VICTORY

Image
Text: Luke 12:2  For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.   *Everything done in the secret; be it good or bad shall be made manifest by the light of the day.*  Knowing that everything done in the secret shall be heard or seen in the open, then, you should always carefully chose your secret actions. Instead of engaging in secret sins and evils, you had better be doing more obedience unto God in secret. You must start exercising yourself unto obedience in the secret, so that you can have more wins in the public.  Many people today are running helter skelter with misplaced priorities. They are always on the social media, either wasting their time or seeking undue attention.  Joseph overcame the temptation thrown at him by Potiphar's wife in the secret; and he got the open reward. David killed the lion and bear in the wilderness, when no one was there, hence he could kill Goliath before the whole armies of Israel and Philistines.  *The

A LITTLE CHILD-2

Image
Text: Matthew 18:3. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Little children are humble and lowly. They never see themselves to be anything. They boast about nothing. They easily forgive. They easily let go. They are never anxious about anything. They have no fears. They keep no record of wrong. They never demand respect forcefully from any.   *To be as humble as a little child is the key to becoming the greatest in the kingdom. And to achieve this, you must be converted.* You cannot attain conversion by mere confession, it takes daily dying to self for you to experience  conversion. Apostle Paul said, "...I die daily"  *Continuous death to self is the only way to accessing God's life.*  God does not want you to continue the growth in your flesh (sinful nature), hence the need for  conversion. Humility is the only thing that draws a man closer to God. When you are not humble, then you are proud. And if your proud, Go

A LITTLE CHILD

Image
Text :  Matthew 18:3. Then he said, “I tell all of you with certainty, unless you change and become like little children, you will never get into the kingdom of  heaven.  *Explicitly, Jesus Christ said if you are not childlike, you can't make it to heaven.*  Being childish is different from being childlike. While the former borders on silliness and immaturity, the later talks about innocence and trustworthiness.  Why do you think Jesus wants us to change and become like little children? Well, the answer is not farfetched;  children have some salient qualities that God wants us to cultivate.- Little children are humble and never pretentious. God Himself resists the proud, so anyone with iota of pride in him cannot enter the kingdom. 1 Peter 5:5. Children don't keep malice. When a child refused to play with you or talk to you just because you chided him or her yesterday, know that that person is no longer a child regardless of his age. This is why 1 Corinthians 14:20  *Brethren,

ORDERING OF STEPS

Image
Text :  Psalms 37:23.  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.  *Without the Lord ordering your steps, you can't navigate through this life unto a  good destination.*  This is why Jeremiah 10:23 says LORD, I know that a person’s life is not his to control, nor does a person establish his way in life. Abraham's servant knew this so well. When he was sent out to find a wife for Isaac his master's son. Because he knew the importance of this assignment, he committed it to God. That’s when he prayed, “LORD God of my master Abraham, help  me to succeed today. Please show your gracious love to my master-Abraham.(Genesis 24:12).   God answered his prayer and his mission was accomplished in good time.  There are issues in this life that you can't resolve on your own. One of such issues is marriage.  Before you venture into this institution, you must carry God along and follow His leadings all the way.  In your marriage, and all through your

CLOUD OF WITNESSES

Image
TEXT: Hebrew. 12:1 Therefore,  since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with patience the race that lies before us. The right question anyone should ask is "who are these large cloud of Witnesses?" Well, chapter eleven of the book of Hebrew supplied the answer, and that's why chapter twelve opened with a "therefore". This means that there was  ensuing discourse before chapter twelve.  Chapter eleven of Hebrews is often called the Faith chapter. It is filled with the testimony of men and women who walked in faith and by faith. We understand from verse two of Hebrew 11 that these Heroes obtained good reports through faith. This faith is shown not only in what they accomplished, but how they lived their lives.  All the heroes mentioned in this chapter are the first set of Witnesses. They had fought the good fight of faith and kept the faith.  (2Tim.4:7) Today, the

TIME IN ETERNITY

Image
Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Our God dwells in eternity-past, present and future. Within these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time.  This time was to be an endless time in eternity, but when man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in and reigned over all.(Romans 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the plague death had placed on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwells? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to you to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal l

ONLY JESUS SAVES

Text:  Acts 4:12   *Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."*  For you to understand what salvation means; you must first of all agree with the truth that man has fallen from what God destined for him, and that without God man is like a product that is good for nothing. (Romans 3:23). Jesus came to this world to save man from three things that has been ruling over all since the fall of our first parents (Adam and Eve). He came to save us from Sin, Devil and Death.  These three are God's enemies. Our arch enemy, the devil unleashed sin and death on man since the fall in the garden of Eden. Jesus came to save us from these (sin and death), and to destroy our arch enemy(the devil). Total freedom from these three is salvation! So, *the essence of salvation is not primarily to give you things, but to save you from things, and to bring you to God.*  No one offers salvation, that is, freedom from sin, sat

WISE JUDGEMENT

Image
Text :   1Kings 3:26.  The woman whose child was still alive cried out to the king, because her heart yearned for her son. “Oh no, your majesty!” she said. “Give her the living child. Please don’t kill him.” But the other woman said, “Cut him in half! That way, he’ll belong to neither one of us.” The story of King Solomon and the two prostitutes fighting over a child is such a profound one. Two prostitutes who lived in the same house got pregnant at the same time,  and  they gave birth around the same time. The two of them gave birth to a boy-child each. And it happened that one of them overslept on her child and he died. She immediately exchanged her dead son with the living one while the other woman was asleep.  Now, among other things, these two prostitutes were fighting for the ownership of the living son.  Quite a number of evil happen when men are sleeping, hence, it is wisdom to commit your life to the hand of the only one that neither sleeps nor slumbers. Many destinies are cha

SOW TO THE SPIRIT

Image
Text: Galatians  6:8  For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Gal 6:8. Since there is no middle ground between the Flesh and the Spirit, the moment you stop sowing to the flesh, that means you've begun sowing to the Spirit. The first step for any man to start sowing to the Spirit is to commit his life to Christ. Having become a new creature (born again), the Spirit of God now communicates with  your spirit man. You are no longer dead to God. You have been quickened.  2Cor. 5:17, Eph 2:1-3.  It only takes one who has experienced second birth (Born again) to sow to the Spirit. If you are yet to commit your life to Christ, you will not only sow to the flesh, but you are practically  living in the flesh.  Ephesians 2:3 says ...Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the c

CAPACITY

Image
Text :  Genesis 41:40. So you are to be appointed in charge over my palace, and all of my people are to do whatever you command them to do. Only the throne will have greater authority than you.” I'm sure you are familiar with the story of Joseph, the dreamer. He was so called because he wouldn't be silent about the spectacular dreams God was showing him about himself.  You don't have to be silent about the vision God has called you to do. Surely, not everyone will agree with you from the beginning. But note that you don't need everyone's approval before you obey God. The truth is your  critics today will celebrate your success tommorrow if you used their criticism as a stepping stone and not as stumbling block. Habakkuk 2:2 says ```And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.```  So Joseph announced his dreams and it fetched him plenty enemies.  You may be going through challenging moments righ

TRUST IS YOUR CAPITAL-2

Image
Text: 2King 22:7 But don't require the construction supervisors to keep account of the money they receive, for they are honest and trustworthy men."  *So many are stranded in life simply because they have depleted all their 'Trust-capital'.*   *To break the Trust people have in you, is like breaking the pillars holding a house.*  In our text, account was not required of the construction supervisors because they were honest and trustworthy men. This goes to say that, they must have had a track records of dealing in honesty in the past. These men had wisely invested their 'trust-capital' in all their relationships. One of the benefits and dividends of their past faithful dealings with people is that account is not being required from them anymore. Whatever they do is received in good faith by all . No one doubts whatever they say or do. They have proven themselves worthy of unconditional trust by all. When there is a mistrust in any relationship, check it- there

SATISFYING HIS PLEASURE

Image
Text: Revelation 4:11 " You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created." Your life is like a candle that burns, and every single person on earth is certainly burning for something, the  question is; what are you burning for? A missionary once said, "People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives … and when the bubble has burst, they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted."-Nate Saint. Your major and singular responsibility as a man on earth is to simply burn for God's pleasure and purpose.  You are created for God's pleasure, hence, His Pleasure must prosper in your life.  If you truly believe and know that you are created by God, then you must truly live for Him. To live for God is to satisfy God's pleasure and purpose in your life.

IMMEDIATELY

Image
Text: Luke 18:43.  Immediately the man could see again and began to follow Jesus, glorifying God. All the people saw this and gave praise to God. A certain blind man heard that Jesus was passing by and he decided to take the best decision of his life. He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Luke 18:38. Anyone who cried to Jesus for mercy will receive mercy. Jesus didn't deny him his request. The man regained his sight. However,  the story didn't end at this. Immediately the man could see again he began to follow Jesus, glorifying God. All the people saw this and gave praise to God. Luke 18:43. The moment he gained his sight, he didn't need anyone to cajole him, immediately, he began to follow Jesus. The moment your eyes are opened to the truth,  you won't need anyone to follow you up before you willfully follow Jesus. Like that blind man,  Jesus is passing by you today, open your mouth and ask Him to open your eyes.  Bible  Reading: Luke 18:35-43. PRAYER FO

LIGHT AFFLICTION

Image
Text:  2 Corinthians  4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;*  The perspective from which you see things will go a long way in determining your approach to life's difficulties and challenges.  Everything is all about perspectives. A man standing at one end will call  a figure "9" while another man at the other end will call same figure "6". Really, they are both correct. It all depends on where they are standing.  Apostle Paul summed up all  his sufferings and challenges as *light affliction.* He looked beyond time  in the now, and pierced into eternity; he then concluded that his present afflictions are raw materials for eternal weight of Glory.  How are you painting your own challenges and problems today?  If you are indeed God's child, you must come to the reality that  "all things are working together for your good"  (Romans 8:28).  *God is intentional and delib
