TRUE INHERITANCE

Text : 1 Peter 1:3&4 

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you* 

 *Knowing what your true inheritance is, or the true inheritance to pass to your children will give you true rest from futile labour.* 

While it is good to leave things behind for your children, you must however understand how to bring them into an inheritance that does not fade away. The very best inheritance that God has intended for His children is reserved in heaven for them.

Every inheritance on earth is subject to corruption and defilement. Hence, you must know how to pass the right and true inheritance to your children's children. 

 *Only a righteous man, (not wicked man) can leave inheritance to his children's children.* Proverbs 13:22

Jesus once said; "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.(Matthew 6:19& 20).

This affirms the fact that the true inheritance a righteous man would leave for his children's children are not primarily physical things. 

If you want to be sincere with yourself, you will realise that whatever inheritance  you give or inherit cannot endure the test of time.

 *Whatever that is under the sun is time bound, and whatever that is time bound is subjected to corruption. And for anything or anyone to be saved from corruption, such thing or person must be submitted to Jesus Christ.* 

To be a wise person, you must seek to understand how you can give and receive the true inheritance.

So, the question is: what is this inheritance?

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. GULLIBLE BUT INTELLIGENT

Text : Mat 25:31-32  *When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:*   *And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:*  Have you ever wondered why Jesus compared His followers to sheep and not goats?  Sheep has reputation for being stupid, defenceless and harmless creatures that mope about on hillsides doing not very much.
