THE MIND OF CHRIST(2)

Text: Philippians 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: The mind in Christ was the mind of servanthood and humility. Be equipped with this mind. There is no greater humility than for God's Son, the very Word of God to humble Himself to the point of becoming a man. Jesus' incarnation (God becoming man) is a great display of  humility and servanthood. "......and (He) took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross" Philippians 2:7-8 From the  above, you can see that Jesus Christ took up: 1. Servanthood Position: Jesus took upon Himself the form of a servant. He was not compelled to become one, but He chose this servanthood position willingly. Jesus came to the earth to serve humanity. He came to serve and not to be served. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one an

THE MIND OF CHRIST

Text:Philippians 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: There is a kind of mind and spirit which Christ  possesses that distinguishes Him  from every other man on the face of the earth. We are encouraged to allow same kind of mind in us. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But he made himself as nothing, taking the form of a servant, being made like men; And being seen in form as a man, he took the lowest place, and let himself be put to death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:6-8. From the above, we can see the mind of Christ as: 1. Mind that does not cling to one's rights and privileges. Christ had completely the same nature as God. He was as important as God. But Christ did not demand that he should continue to be important like that. Philippians 2:6 (Easyenglish) For you to have the mind of Christ, you must become a person who never claims rights. You must not be legalistic. You must learn to let go of you

INVEST WISELY

Text : Mark  8:36   For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Every single person on  earth has been given a life time opportunity to invest his or her life. You must therefore have it at the back of your mind that, your life is an investment. The question now is:  1. How do I invest my life? 2. In what do I invest my life? Having asked yourself these critical questions, it is important to know that every investment could either result in a profit or loss. Our Lord Jesus Christ, having this investment sense asked the question: What will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Jesus was simply asking his followers about the profit they would make if they gain the whole world.  For your your soul to be compared to the whole world, it means that it must be an inestimable and priceless _"possession "_   To lose your soul, is to gain the world; and to gain your soul is to lose the world- You surely cannot

JUST OBEY

Text : 1Sam 9:3. The donkeys belonging to Kish, Saul’s father, were lost, and Kish told his son Saul, “Take one of the young men with you, get up, and go look for the donkeys.” When Kish sent his son,  Saul on an errand, little did he (Saul) know that that was an errand that will crown him the very first king in Isreal. When Jesse sent his son David, on an errand to his brothers on the battle front, little  did he (David) know that that was an errand that will launch him into his destiny. 1 Sam.17:12-40. While Rebecca was helping an aged servant feed his camels, little did she know that she was preparing her marriage bed. Gen.24:12-28. While James and John were fishing with their father, little did they know that going out that day with their father will bring them into a lasting encounter with our  Lord Jesus Christ. Matt. 4:21-22. We could go on and on. Whenever God decides to take you to a next level,  a higher ground, He doesn't always announce it on the radio, television or on

IN YOUR LIGHT

Text : Psal ms 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. You can only see light in His light if you are so interested in seeing yourself as you truly are. Until you see yourself as you really are in His light, you are probably in the dark still. As I was brushing my teeth one evening, my eyes fell on dark stains behind the basin, this really got me irritated to the point that my whole body started itching. I had tried to take off my mind but my eyes keep catching up on the stain. I thereafter decided to switch off  the bathroom light so as to keep my eyes in the dark in order not to continue to see the stains.  While I was still brushing, the Holy Spirit brought an understanding to my heart on how many folks intentionally avoid the light of God that is beaming on their hearts. They deliberately embrace darkness in order not to see the stains(sins) in their lives. You must know that, it is only when you accept God's light that will  you will be abl

DEAR BROTHER

Text : Proverbs  19:14   House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD. Dear Brother, if you are married, we thank God for your life and we pray for wisdom to lead a fruitful life. Your marriage will not be a  barrier to fulfilling God's mandate for your life rather, it will give you a better platform to fulfilling it in Jesus name.  Also, you need to take heed to God's word coming to you today so you could give qualitative advice to your sons and the younger generations.  If you are not married, I say congratulations! This is because you still have the chance to retrace your steps and get it right maritally. Dear brother, you must know and note that the wife you married can to a very large extent determine your success here on earth as far as God's mandate is concerned, and can invariably determine where you will spend your eternity. Why should you because of a fleeting pleasure jeopardise the eternal purpose of God for your life? The

SALVATION OF YOUR SOUL

Text : James 1:21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls So many like to live in self deceit than to face the reality of God's word in order to pursue the standard it demands. Yes, the truth is that Christ has finished the work of our salvation on the Cross, He paid it all. He has redeemed us as well. We have been raised together with him and seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph. 2:6. But you still have the responsibility to cooperate with the Holy Spirit(by carrying your cross) in order to experience what happened in your spirit in your soul.  The very plan of God for every child(born again) of His, is that such one will be another Jesus on earth. God wants us to be another Jesus living in the body on earth today. Are you living like Jesus? It is good to know that your spirit has been saved, but this is the beginning of the journey into a great experience. Do

COLD HEART

Text : Luke  24:32   And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? Your heart depicts your real you. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Prov. 23:7.   Hearts can be classified into different categories,  one of such categories is a cold heart. The word of God cannot germinate on a cold heart. Before anyone can profit from God's word, his heart's temperature must change from being cold to being hot. Some hearts are not cold, but they aren't hot either Jesus said He will spit out such people. I know your actions, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. Since you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth. Rev.3:15-16. Note that a lukewarm heart is as Terrible as a cold heart. Let your heart burn for Him and Him alone. At times, while some are being blessed by reason  of God's words,  others are just plainly indiffer

ARE YOU PREPARED?

Text : 2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, One major question that must be in the heart of everyone willing to meet with the Lord is: How prepared am I? Many are really not ready for the second arrival of our Lord; and that is the reason for the coldness in the church today. Apostle Peter painted a clear picture of what the end would be. He said in 2 Peter 3:10 that: 1. The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;  2. The heavens shall pass away with a great noise in the day of the Lord. 3. The elements shall melt with fervent heat in the day of the Lord. 4. The earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up. In view of the above four(4)major occurrences that would accompany  the day of the Lord; Apostle Peter categorically asked the followers (including you) of the Lord a very important question in verse : Since all these things are all in the process of bein

HEART MATTERS

Text : Jer 17:9. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Have you ever wondered why you  can spend hours watching season films and not be able to spend the same time or half the time to tarry in God's presence? Well, it's all a matter of your heart composition. Today, we shall be starting a series on the different kinds of heart man carries and its import on our lives. God asked a germane question in our text above. He said,  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Now, before we think of the response to the question, let's examine the question again very well. 1. The heart is deceitful above all things. Do you ever consider the deceitfulness of your heart? Infact,  the first step towards deliverance is accepting that you need one in the first place.  If you know of anything or anyone that is deceitful,  know that your heart is more deceitful than that.  The greatest deception is the decepti

GREAT GRACE

Text :  Acts  4:33   And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.  If great Grace was upon the Apostles, it therefore means that grace can be in measures. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be multiplied upon your life. Amen   GRACE is more than a favour or enablement to do something or achieve a feat. It is not limited to the oil that lubricates your wheel. Grace is simply Jesus personified.  Grace is that which releases and transmits things that pertains to Christ upon a man's life. Grace is actually the person of Christ at work in a man's life.  _For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace._ John 1:16 Though, every born again(child of God) is saved by Grace at the point of salvation, but that is not all there is about Grace; Grace initiated your birth by Faith, it is also grace that will see you through your Christian journey on this side of eternity. Eph. 2:8-9. Today we shall b

HELP OTHERS

Text : Luk 22:32  But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. ONE good proof of genuine conversion is desire to witness. You can't just keep calm. But beyond this euphoria or emotions is the fact that it is a command.  Every one who has been saved is saddled with the responsibility of helping others to be saved.  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;2 Corinthians  5:18. God reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciling others. Don't let the chain stop with you, pass it on to others. You will soon become a stagnant water if all of God's blessings in you are bottled in you, you are meant to be a channel of blessing. You are blessed to bless others. God allowed you to pass through what you went through, and He kept you alive so you could be a worthy vessel in using your experience to rescue others. Mind y

CONVERSION

Text : Luke 22:32  But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. The Lord said to Simon, 'Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: Luke 22:31. Beloved, this information is not peculiar to Simon only, Satan still desires to have you too today, so he might sift you away.  Infact, Jesus told us expressly that  what He says unto one ,He says unto all, therefore Watch. Mark  13:37. That you will be tempted by the devil is not a probability, it is certain. How well you prepare yourself for the day of temptation will determine the outcome. Proverbs  24:10 says, If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. That is, strength to overcome is garnered before the day of adversity comes, if victory is to be ascertained. One sure way to garner this strength is through conversion. To be converted is to turn back to the Lord. Let's read our text again in Easy English Version. ‘But

ON A JOURNEY

Text : 1 Peter  2:11   Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; One of the major things you must understand is that,a everyone on this side of eternity is on a journey. We are all journeying as pilgrims and strangers through this earth to a final destination.  Both the believers and unbelievers are altogether on a journey. While the unbeliever(sinner) is on a journey to eternal damnation, the believer is on a journey to eternal life. Jesus Christ however has given us the life time opportunity to change the course and path of our journey during our life time. So if any sinner is willing, such can humbly accept the free gift of salvation by simply receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. (Rom. 10:9-10).  The moment you receive Jesus Christ, your journey into eternal and everlasting life begins.  _And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life._ 1 John 2:25. Apostle Peter in our text _'beseeched"

INSTRUCTION

Text : Pro 4:13.  Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. There are stuffs that are basically your call,  no matter how long you pray,  God will not do for you what you ought to do for yourself. Our text says : 1. Take fast hold of instruction. This is one thing God won't do for you. God's part is to give instruction, yours is to hold on to it. An instruction that you can't retain won't be obeyed. 2 . Let her not go: instructions has the tendency to slip away if not well guarded.  While Jesus was explaining the parable of the sower to His disciples,  He said the seed will slip away from anyone who lacks understanding of what he has heard. Matt 13;19. Another thing you must pay attention to is getting understanding. Proverbs  4:7  says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding". 3. Keep her.  Responsibility is laid on you as a disciple of Christ to keep God's instr

ALL OF HIM 2

Text : Luke 14:26   If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Today we shall be looking at the import of Christ's Lordship over your life.  Though, we have been made Sons and daughters unto God through the reconciliation made by His blood, we must know that we are also under His Lordship. He is both a Father and Lord! As the Father and Lord over you, you will be required to:  1. Honour Him Malachi 1:6 says, _A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?_  Honour is primarily an attitude and position of the heart that values and respects another. A disciple is therefore known by how much of value and respect he bestows on Christ as his Lord.  2. Submit to Him

ALL OF HIM

Text : Luke 14:26   If any man come to me and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. It's either Jesus is Lord of ALL or NOTHING.HE paid ALL the price to save ALL, that He might be the LORD of ALL. Hence, all tongue shall confess Him as the Lord.  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:11. Jesus saved you that He might be your Lord. A true disciple is one who has submitted all to the Lordship of Christ.  The multitude may follow Christ but He does not commit Himself to them. He only commits to disciples in an experiential way. The scripture says that _there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them If any man come to me and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple,_ Luke 14:25-26.  The multitude w

PERISHABLE

Text : John 3:18 ISV  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s unique Son. On a norm, no one trashes anything just to punish that thing, things are trashed because they are spoilt or because they are no longer useful. In the same vein, people won't go to hell because God wants to punish them for their misdeeds,  people will end in hell because they have perished. Anyone who refused to believe in Jesus Christ is a perishable element, John 3:15. But if he is still alive, he can be rescued from perishing.  The decision to go to heaven or hell is not made in heaven, after the death of a man. The decision is actually made here on earth before man dies. At the end of it all, God is not the one to determine whether you go to heaven or hell, that decision rests with the individual while he is here on earth. You decide where you will spend your eternity by your daily conduct and choice

ENLARGEMENT

Text : 2 Kings 4:3  He told her, “Go out to all of your neighbors in the surrounding streets and borrow lots of pots from them. Don't get just a few empty vessels, either. Our God is an unlimited God, but your container determines how much you could get from Him. The story was told of a poor widow whose sons were to be taken as ransom for a debt owed by their late father. This woman obviously was in a big mess. She is not only poor, but she had just suffered the loss of her husband, which gives her a 'double tragic' title of a poor widow. Now, to put insult on her already inflamed injury, her husband's creditor threatened to take her children away. These children were her only comfort.  Terrible as her situation was, this woman had enough grace to run for help in the right direction. She ran to God for help. Who do you go to when you are in a fix? It is wisdom to run to Him who is really able to help and not just to sympathizers. The man of God gave some instructions to

IMPORTING AND EXPORTING

Text : Joel  2:28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: A number of times what happens in the physical is only a  prototype or reflection of what has happened or what is happening in the Spirit realm. Just as God promised to pour out His Spirit on people in the last days, so also the devil is working tooth and nail in this end time to unleash his spirit upon men. BEWARE AND BE GUARDED . One of the features of the end time is that the activities of spirits will increase. Note that this includes both good and evil spirits. In the physical, people export and import goods from one country to another. Now, we know that not all of these goods or even services are good or legal for the citizens' consumption.  In the same light, while God's spirit is downloading great stuffs on men. The devil and his agents are also busy down

IT'S INTENTIONAL

Text: Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to his purpose. An American singer (Travis Greene)  once sang: _All things are working for my good, 'cause He's intentional....._  That is just the summary of our text today. God is intentional about your life.  All that happens to God's children are always within the bracket of God's workings. If God is so detailed enough to number the hairs on your head, then He is concerned about every minute detail of your life.  _But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:30_  You must settle it in your heart that Jehovah sees and knows all of your good and bad times. He is so concerned about you and all yours. Whenever you are going through fire or any unpalatable situations, two questions you need to ask yourself is: 1. Do I love God? 2. Am I the called, according to His purpose? Your ability to answer these questions in the affirmati

DON'T QUIT!

Text:  Galatians  6:9   And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. One major difference between a person who is tagged a failure and one who is tagged a success is tenacity.  While a failure easily gives up, a successful person is tenacious. He never gives up easily. Any of your good and godly attempts will always yield results if only you don't give up. Just as the common saying goes - Quitters never win and winners never quit, you must trust in God's grace never to quit in well-doing.  There is always a due season for every seed you put into the ground to germinate. The due season for maize is not the same as an orange. If you compare your harvest period as a bamboo grower with a maize farmer, you will easily quit. A man who is doing well is a man who is holding unto his profession of faith in Christ Jesus even in hard times. For you to reap in due season, you must leave the camp of quitters, and join the camp of the faithful and

BE EMPTY

Text : John 2:6-7  And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.  Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. The six water pots commanded Jesus's attention basically because ; They were empty (available to be used) The water pot was not fit to be used because  it was normally used to wash leg (John 2:6), yet Jesus used it to perform the miracle because it was empty.  Jesus  only perform wonder with empty vessels. He may not be able to do anything special with you if you are full(of yourself).  Jesus didn't call you because you were qualified, He qualified you so you could be useful because you are available. Are you really available for Him? The same water pot people used to wash legs now became useful to serve wine even for governor because it was available and empty.   There is no one Jesus cannot use . All He needs is your availability. Let

DON'T BE A WASTER

Text:  John 6:12   When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Jesus took five loaves of bread, broke it, and fed five thousand men. When the multitude were filled, Jesus instructed that the fragments be gathered that there be no waste.  The fragment is not the whole bread but broken pieces. Fragments are remnants that can easily be discarded. But for Jesus, He would not tolerate any wastage. Jesus rightly said, "that nothing be lost". Though our God has given us all things in abundance to enjoy, yet He would not want anything to be wasted. A WASTER is a brother to a destroyer. You must see to it that God's resources and provisions in your care are properly and faithfully managed.   One would have wondered why Jesus was so concerned about fragments. Aside from the fact that Jesus does not permit wastage. The gathering of the fragments also attests to God's miraculous workings. As the disciples carry th

TRUST NOT IN MAN 2

Text : Jeremiah 17:7   Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.  _A cursed man is one that trust in man, and make flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5._ One major reason we suffer many pains and dissapointments is because of TRUST misplacement. When you place your trust in man, you are bound to be disappointed.  _A blessed man on the other hand is one who  trust in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. Jeremiah 17:7_  When you start exercising your trust in God, you will have the following experience:  1. He shall be as a tree planted by the waters: A man whose delight is in the law of the LORD; and who   meditate in His law day and night shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. Such shall  bring forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3  2. He shall spread out her roots by the river. Anyone who trusts in the Lord shall always have abund

TRUST NOT IN MAN

Text : Psalms 146:3  Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. God is God, He is no man that should fail. When God gives you His word, you can certainly count on it. The word of God clearly warned that you should not put your trust in princes nor in the son of man. Why? No help can be found in man. Though man may be willing to help, but he is not sure of having his breath in his nostril till the next day. Man is limited by so many constraints and limitations.  Psalms 146:4 says that  _His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day, his thoughts perish._ Hence the Psalmist advised that  _It is better to trust God than man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes_. Psalms  118:8 -9. God placed a curse upon any man that trusts in man and makes flesh his arm. Jeremiah 17:5. God wants the whole of your heart all for Himself. He wants you to

EVERLASTING JOY

Text : John 15:11   These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. According to dictionary meaning, Joy is a feeling of extreme happiness or cheerfulness, especially related to the acquisition or expectation of something good. But there is another JOY that is not captured in man's  dictionary. It is the JOY that is not dependent on acquisition or expectation of something. This is the Joy of the Lord. It is called EVERLASTING JOY! Isaiah 61:7. Everlasting Joy proceeds from the Spirit of God. It is not a circumstantial feelings. It always glides above happenings around you. Come what may; in good or bad times. Everlasting Joy endures and remains at all times. Nothing can overcome it. In our text, Jesus spoke certain things to His disciples that His Joy might remain in them, and that their own Joy might be full. Full Joy is an Everlasting Joy. It is a joy beyond the border of this worldly sorrows and happenstance. This is the

PAIN TAKER

Study Text; 1 Peter 2:24.  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I know you are accustomed to the word " painkillers " but probably not so much with "pain taker". Well, the idea behind painkillers is to numb the pains in the body.  Having been operated on, on two different occasions, I can boldly tell you that those drugs that are referred to as pain killers are better described as pain suspenders. Basically, the doctors administer those medications or injections in order to numb the patient during a given period of time, so they can carry out their operation without itch. While this drugs are in effects, the patient will feel no sensation or motion in the affected area, hence, the doctors will have a field day to perform their enterprise. However, as the effect of the drug wears off, the pains set in, and it has been proven that such pains stay longer

THE MESSAGE AND THE MESSENGER

Text : 1Cor 9:27 ISV   No, I keep on disciplining my body, making it serve me so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified.  You will be doing yourself a great disservice as a child of God if in the bid of saving others you lose your own soul. Peter was told to strengthen others only after he himself has been converted. Luke 22:32.  You are in a more vantaged position to help others when your own salvation is secured . You can't be in a muddy pit and be offering help to others in the same pit with you. First,  get yourself out of the pit,  then you will be qualified to help others.  Paul said in 1 Cor. 9:27, that there's need to keep disciplining your body. This is a task no one one can do for you except you.  Your body in this context talks about the desires of the flesh. Rom 7:5. He goes further to say that he makes the body to serve him and not the other way round. A number of times, the body is not serving the believer rather it
