SALVATION OF YOUR SOUL

Text : James 1:21

So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls

So many like to live in self deceit than to face the reality of God's word in order to pursue the standard it demands.

Yes, the truth is that Christ has finished the work of our salvation on the Cross, He paid it all. He has redeemed us as well. We have been raised together with him and seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph. 2:6. But you still have the responsibility to cooperate with the Holy Spirit(by carrying your cross) in order to experience what happened in your spirit in your soul.

The very plan of God for every child(born again) of His, is that such one will be another Jesus on earth. God wants us to be another Jesus living in the body on earth today. Are you living like Jesus? It is good to know that your spirit has been saved, but this is the beginning of the journey into a great experience. Do not allow sweet tongue teachers stop you at the first bus stop. Our last stop is conformation to the Image of God's Son-Jesus(not only in your spirit but in your soul). Rom. 8:29.

The book of James was written to Christians who has had been quickened in their spirits. They were admonished to do two things and thereafter receive God's word not that they might be  quickened again in their spirits; but that they might be saved in their souls.

Your spirit experienced the salvation instantly and was brought back to life, but your soul shall experience same through daily and consistent walk with the Lord. Hence, Jesus said to his disciples: _"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it" Matthew 16:24-25_

While Jesus demanded that any man desiring to follow Him should carry his cross and deny himself, James said lay apart filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness.

The goal of these two demands from our Lord  is that you might be saved in your soul. It is not another salvation but the same which Christ had wrought on the Cross. You have fully experienced it through the quickening of your spirit, but you must experience same in your soul in a progressive way.

That is to say, your spirit experienced it once, but your soul will participate in it as you progressively cooperate with the Holy Spirit. Eph 2:1,
2 Cor 3: 18.

Bible Reading: Colossians 3:1-10.
