AUTHORITY IN JESUS' NAME-2

Text : Philippians 2:9&10 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;   *The name of JESUS is the only passport you have to God's throne.*  The approach you use when using the name of Jesus to command a situation is quite different when you are making a request in His name in the place of prayer. The reason many don't have their prayers answered is because they pray amiss.  When you pray, you are not to pray to Jesus but to God in the name of Jesus. This is where many believers miss it altogether. John 15:16,16:23 & 26 established the fact that you pray to God in Jesus' name.  Jesus said in John 16:23 that whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in His name, He (the Father) will give it to you.  So, you must be well grounded in the fact that all prayers are directed to the Father (God) in t...

AUTHORITY IN JESUS' NAME

Text : Philippians 2:9&10 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Believing in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death) would mean that you also believe in the person of Jesus Christ. And if you truly believe in Jesus, then you must as well  believe in the power that is embeded in His name.  As a believer, you must know how to use the name of Jesus authoritatively. When you use the name of Jesus against any other name in heaven, on earth or under the earth, there must be instant obedience.  JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will under...

PEACE

Text: John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  The world we live in today is a broken world, this is because  man broke his relationship with God in the Garden of Eden.  Since the world is broken, Peace (Shallom) has become a scarce commodity in our world. There is no peace between man and God; no peace between man and man; no peace even within a man as a being; no peace between man and the creations. Peace was taken away the moment Adam and Eve sinned.  This was the reason Jesus came to the world to restore Peace! Truly, Jesus is the answer for the world today. Above Him there is no other. Jesus is the Way.  It's now an individual choice to accept or reject the Peace Jesus offers. The peace this world offers you is no peace in anyway. *Nothing in this world can give a man lasting Peace of Mind. *Only God is our Shallom(Peace).* When you criti...

TRUST & PEACE - 3

Text : Isaiah 26:3. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.  *The Lord is committed to keeping you in perfect peace if only your mind would stay on Him.* But your mind can however only stay on God when you trust Him whole-heartedly.  Proverbs 3:5 talks about trusting the Lord with all your heart. Yes! Trusting must be with ALL your heart. This therefore means that you can trust half-heartedly and not whole-heartedly. From our Bible reading, we saw that the disciples of Jesus (Apostles) trusted that Jesus is able to do  something to save them  from the raging storm on the sea; but they never trusted Him with the whole of their hearts. Hence, they could not enjoy PEACE in the face of trouble.   *Fear is a symptom of peace deficiency, and peace-deficiency is a product of lack of whole-hearted trust in God.*  Though the disciples called on Jesus to save them, but He never saw their faith in Him. Jesus...

TRUST & PEACE- 2

Text : Isaiah 26:3. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Yesterday we saw how Jesus rebuked the wind and calmed the sea. And by this act of faith, peace was restored and everything returned to normalcy.  Though, Jesus was sleeping during the stormy wind on the sea,  but I believe that he was also conscious of His environment. He was probably using the opportunity to see what the reaction of his disciples would be. Jesus used this challenging moment to  measure His disciples' level of faith.  You can just imagine yourself being confronted with a life threatening situation, while still fidgeting, you hear someone say to you "why is it that you have no faith?" What do you  think your reaction would be towards this person? You will likely get angry at such person, right? But the *The truth is, your FAITH is measured by your PATIENCE & TRUST in God in times of troubles and not when things are going on wel...

TRUST & PEACE

Text : Matthew 13:23. But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the person who hears the word, understands it, and produces a crop that yields 100, 60, or 30 times what was sown.” A heart is only considered to be good when it can receive the word of God, understands it and brings forth fruit.  *To a farmer, a good farmland is not one which can receive seed but one which produces good harvest.*  What the Father takes glory in is your fruitfulness. He wants your life to yield bountiful harvest. And this can only be possible when you abide in Jesus.  *This is how my Father is glorified, when you produce a lot of fruit and so prove to be my disciples.* John 15:8. Note that your heart can portray any of these four hearts texture on different occasions depending on your disposition towards God's word at any given time. So for you to maintain a good heart that is capable of producing fruit, you must learn to always abide in Jesus. I am the vine, you are the branches. The on...

GOOD HEART

Text : Matthew 13:23. But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the person who hears the word, understands it, and produces a crop that yields 100, 60, or 30 times what was sown.” A heart is only considered to be good when it can receive the word of God, understands it and brings forth fruit.  *To a farmer, a good farmland is not one which can receive seed but one which produces good harvest.*  What the Father takes glory in is your fruitfulness. So for you to maintain a good heart that is capable of producing fruit, you must learn to always abide in Jesus. I am the vine, you are the branches. The on...

THORNY HEART

Text : Matthew 13:22.  As for what was sown among the thorn bushes, this is the person who hears the word, but the worried of life and the deceitful pleasures of wealth choke the word so that it can’t produce a crop. Some hearts are thorny in nature. A thorny heart is one that is characterised by worries of life and deceitful pleasures of wealth.  By nature, man (the fallen man) is characterized by worry and anxiety. However, the original intent of God for man is that he should be worry-free. Before the fall, Adam had no reason to worry about anything, he wasn't even worried about who to marry, God Himself was his provider and provision.  All the things man worries about now were adequately provisioned before Adam came on the scene.  So the worry state of man today came as a result of sin. And this is why we are  told  not to worry for anything.  Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through pra...

STONY HEART

Text : Matthew 13:20.  *As for what was sown on the stony ground, this is the person who hears the word and accepts it joyfully at once,*  The second heart category is the stony heart. It isn't stony because he refused to hear the word of the kingdom, but because he lacks depth. One thing that is peculiar to all the four kinds of hearts mentioned by Jesus in the parable of the sower is the fact that they all hear the word.  This is why James said don't just be hearer of the word only deceiving your own self.  *But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.* James 1:22. For if anyone hears the word but is not obedient to it, he is like a man who looks at himself in a mirror and studies himself carefully, and then goes off and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the one who looks at the perfect law of freedom and remains committed to it—thereby demonstrating that he is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of what that law requires wi...

WAITING ON THE LORD

Text :Psalms 27:14   Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD . A number of times,  people miss the plan of God for their lives because they couldn't wait on the Lord.  Note that I didn't say because they couldn't wait at all, but that they couldn't _wait on the Lord._  Waiting on the Lord is not a passive or idle time when you do nothing. No! It is a period you engage in active seeking of the Lord's face and will concerning a particular matter or situation in your life. You seek God's mind simply for the purpose of obedience and not for mere revelation. The cycle of waiting is not comple until you obey and carefully carry out what you are told. Once, the mind of God is revealed concerning any area of your life, you must see to it that you obey His Will.  You will often hear many Christians lightly talk about how God had asked them to do something and they refused or they are yet to do it. They even...

SHEATH YOUR SWIRD-2

Text :Matthew 26:52&53   *But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?*  Today, we'll glean a great wisdom from the meekness of Jesus Christ. Like it was established yesterday, *meekness goes beyond gentleness and mildness, it is the inner workings of God in a man to refrain from unleashing himself against an opposing fellow or situation.*  Our text is a very outstanding and remarkable statement that reveals the very core and depth of Jesus' meek nature in the face of great tribulation.  In the text, Jesus Christ pointed out what he could, but that He will not do.  Jesus said he could ask God to send more than twelve legions of angels. Let's look at the implications of this singular request Jesus never made. A legion is a  body of soldiers whose number differed at different ...

SHEATH YOUR SWORD

Text :Matthew 26:52&53   *But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?*  When Jesus was waylaid by Judas Iscariot and the multitude from the chief priests and elders of Israel with sword and staves, one of Jesus' disciples brought out his sword and cut off the ear of the high priest's servant. Jesus rebuked his disciple  and fix the high priest  servant's ear.  He made his disciples understand that whoever kills by the sword shall also perish with the sword (Matt 26:52). It is very important to note that you don't render evil for evil, rather you conquer evil with good deeds. (1Thess 5:15), Romans 12:21 render it thus: *Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.*  It only takes a person with great and huge inner strength from the Lord to overcome evil with good de...

SECRET

Text : Matthew 13:11.  *He answered them, “You have been given knowledge about the secrets of the kingdom from heaven, but it hasn’t been given to them,*  Have you ever wondered why you don't understand somethings in the scripture or why some people are completely clueless about what looks so simple to you? Well, the simple answer is, *the word of God is a secret, and only those who have the key can unravel it.*  King James calls this secret a  mystery. Jesus Christ says the key to unravelling this mystery is knowledge. He says _You have been given knowledge about the secrets of the kingdom from heaven,_  That is, without knowledge,  you'll lack entrance into the things of the Spirit. That's why Peter says you must make every effort to add knowledge to your faith.   *For this very reason, you must make every effort to supplement your faith with moral character, your moral character with knowledge,* 2Peter 1:5. Now, it is your responsibility as a c...
