AUTHORITY IN JESUS' NAME

Text : Philippians 2:9&10

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Believing in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death) would mean that you also believe in the person of Jesus Christ. And if you truly believe in Jesus, then you must as well  believe in the power that is embeded in His name.

As a believer, you must know how to use the name of Jesus authoritatively. When you use the name of Jesus against any other name in heaven, on earth or under the earth, there must be instant obedience.

JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these exploits in the authority of Jesus' name.

No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.

Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whole generation(age 20 upward) in the wilderness. " _Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me"_ Numbers 14:29

They perished because they did not believe in His name (ability and personality). They gave evil report by saying,
"And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight
as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight"  Numbers 13:33

The Israelites were comparing their stature with that of the giants in Canaan. They forgot the name and the promise of God.
Is this not your situation today? Quick to slide into unbelief, quick to look down on yourself, quick to forget the potency of the name- to save and to deliver.

Using someone's name means that the power is only resident in the name and not in you.

You must be bold in the authority that has been given to you to use the name of Jesus against any devil or situation.  No matter how Big or powerful you are, when you stand before a judge in the court of law, you will shiver. Why? He is backed up by constituted  authority (as spelt out in the constitution). The judge only believes in constitution that he's got authority to send anyone to jail, sentence to death or set free.

In the same way, as a believer, you have the authority in the name of Jesus to loose and bind.  Simply use Jesus' name by Faith and you will always get the desired result.

*The name of Jesus will bring the devil on his knees right before you, it will cast him out from your life, and it will cause him to flee from you if only you will believe the name in the power in the name.*

Bible reading: Mark 16:1-20.

 *PRAYER FOCUS.*

Use the name of Jesus to drive out that sickness out of your body. Command the devil to take off his hand from your life, health, family, business, ministry in the name of Jesus.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
