Text :Psalms 27:14
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
A number of times, people miss the plan of God for their lives because they couldn't wait on the Lord. Note that I didn't say because they couldn't wait at all, but that they couldn't _wait on the Lord._
Waiting on the Lord is not a passive or idle time when you do nothing. No! It is a period you engage in active seeking of the Lord's face and will concerning a particular matter or situation in your life. You seek God's mind simply for the purpose of obedience and not for mere revelation.
The cycle of waiting is not comple until you obey and carefully carry out what you are told. Once, the mind of God is revealed concerning any area of your life, you must see to it that you obey His Will.
You will often hear many Christians lightly talk about how God had asked them to do something and they refused or they are yet to do it. They even laugh about their disobedience.
Please note that disobedience is no child's play. If you have a pending instruction from the Lord, quickly receive grace to deliver in good time before it's too late. The scripture says that every disobedience attracts a just recompense of reward (Heb. 2:2-3).
Take for instance, (according to our Bible reading), King Saul waited for seven days as instructed and he even waited for the appointed time, but it was Prophet Samuel who delayed in coming. 1 Samuel 13:8. So to a natural man, Saul actually waited.
However, the instruction was for Saul to wait for Samuel to offer the sacrifice and not for him(Saul) to do it in his stead. 1 Samuel 13:11-13. Hence, there is a huge difference between waiting and waiting on the Lord.
To wait in the natural is to remain stationary in readiness or expectation for another to catch up — or to hold back expectantly waiting for a chance. It also has to do with time, after a given period of time, you may be justified if you stopped waiting.
However, *waiting on the Lord is centered on God and not time or people.* It is not a state of inactivity, but a period of total reliance on all of God's instructions. A time to follow His instructions whether it makes sense or not.
*He that believes shall not make haste. Wait I say on the Lord. Isaiah 28:16.*
When you begin to take every instruction of God in His word very serious for the purpose of obeying them, then you are practising true waiting on the Lord.
So, *walking in obedience is tantamount to waiting on the Lord.*
May you find grace to always wait on the Lord in Jesus name.
