DON'T BE WEARY

Text : Gal 6:9 KJV   *And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.*  Based on the attitude and reactions of some people, there's tendency to be weary in well doing. But, *When you allow people bring out bad reactions in you, it's because you have the bad in you already.*  Someone who is consistent always behaves in the same way, regardless of people's actions or reactions.  Paul admonished us not to be tired of doing what is right because of one basic reason : 1. *You shall reap it at the right time.* Now, you are only guaranteed harvest if you do not give up. *It does not matter how many good you have done in the past, what matters is, are you still in the business of doing good?*  Yes, I know some people are masters in paying good with evil, but they shouldn't deter nor debar you from doing good. As a matter of fact, *the instruction is not to do good to those who will pay you back with good but to all and su...

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES(3)

Text: 1 Samuel  30:6    *And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.*  Personal encouragement must be done in the Lord  and not in yourself. The moment David encouraged himself in the Lord,, he received help. David asked Abiathar the priest to bring him the ephod for consultation. This is more like consulting God iin the place of prayer..  Philippians 4:6 shows us the  3 necessary keys to overcoming challenges : "Be careful for *nothing* ; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God" 1. Being  careful for nothing. is to avoid anxiety and worry in the face of distress, pressure or challenges. This must be a deliberate step you must take.  No matter the challenges  that may come your way, you must not allow...

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES(2)

Text: 1 Samuel  30:6    *And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.*   *In all of your challenges,  you are always presented with two options- overcome or be overcome by it*  Today we shall be looking at how David handled and overcame his own challenging moments.  David returned home from following Achish (one of the Philistines Lords ) to war against Israel.  When he got back home (Ziklag), on the third day, he realised that the Amalekites had invaded his camp.  As a result, David and his men had the following challenges to either cope with or solve: 1.  They had taken the women in  ZiKlag captive, from young to old.  2. The town had been burnt down.  3 . Their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captives. 4.  David was ...

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

Text: 1 Samuel  30:6    *And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.*   *One major truth every man must embrace is that, just as none is shielded from the light of the sun; so also, none is shielded from the challenges of life.*  At one point in your life, you will face one challenge or the other.  *Challenge is a constant factor in life. Irrespective of your background, status, position or achievements, you are not in anyway excused from the challenges that life pose.*  The only cushion and coverings any man could enjoy can only be found in Christ Jesus. He warned His disciples of the  tribulations (pressing, trials, distress,  frustration) that every of His followers will encounter in this world.  _I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [pe...

CHOICE

Text: Proverbs 22:1    *A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold*   *One of the greatest powers and responsibilities God has saddled man with, is the ability to decide and choose.*  God however did not leave man in the dark, He always clearly instructs man to choose the best option. For instance in Deuteronomy 30:19, God set before man life and death, blessing and curse: and He clearly advised man to choose life. *Choosing life eternal is a choice you have to make*  In our text, God instructed that a good name be chosen rather than great riches.    So many people have sold off good name for great riches. When you consider great riches above good name, you do everything even at the expense of good name to get it. So, what is good name? A good name is the image and identity of those whose lives are consistent with the standard of God. _However, God’s solid foundation still stands. It...

NAMES 2

Text : Ruth 1:2 ISV   *The man’s name was Elimelech, his wife’s name was Naomi, and their two sons were named Mahlon and Chilion—Ephrathites from Bethlehem of Judah. They journeyed to the country of Moab and lived there for some time.*  Yesterday, we looked into the meanings of the names of some of the Characters in our study text, today,  we will attempt to look into one  of the rest characters : 1. *Chilion :* This is the name of the second son of Elimelech and Naomi. And his name means 'Pining' which means destruction, languishing consumption, annihilation or  failing.   *Regardless of the terrible circumstances surrounding your conception, you should never give a bad name to your child.*  Rachel, Jacob's wife in Genesis 38:18 named her son Benoni which means 'child of my sorrow' because of the enormous pain she went through during delivery. She died immediately after giving birth to the child. But if not for the sensitivity and wisdom of ...

NAMES

Text : Ruth 1:2 ISV   *The man’s name was Elimelech, his wife’s name was Naomi, and their two sons were named Mahlon and Chilion—Ephrathites from Bethlehem of Judah. They journeyed to the country of Moab and lived there for some time.*   *Names are more than your identity,  it speaks volume about your personality.*  I've had reasons to ask quite a number of  people for the meaning of their names,  and I'm surprised or should I say appalled at how a chunk percentage of them do not know the meaning of the names they answer.  Some parents named their children only for alliteration sake. If you asked them,  they will say "I want all my children's name to start with letter 'S', " with little or no consideration for its meaning.  At times, some go to social media asking just anybody to help them with a name for their wards,  how very pathetic. Well, this is so because they lacked the understanding of the imports of names.  Such ...
