NAMES 2

Text : Ruth 1:2 ISV

*The man’s name was Elimelech, his wife’s name was Naomi, and their two sons were named Mahlon and Chilion—Ephrathites from Bethlehem of Judah. They journeyed to the country of Moab and lived there for some time.*

Yesterday, we looked into the meanings of the names of some of the Characters in our study text, today,  we will attempt to look into one  of the rest characters :

1. *Chilion :* This is the name of the second son of Elimelech and Naomi. And his name means 'Pining' which means destruction, languishing consumption, annihilation or

failing.

*Regardless of the terrible circumstances surrounding your conception, you should never give a bad name to your child.*

Rachel, Jacob's wife in Genesis 38:18 named her son Benoni which means 'child of my sorrow' because of the enormous pain she went through during delivery. She died immediately after giving birth to the child. But if not for the sensitivity and wisdom of her husband, who changed the name to Benjamin (son of my right hand), She would have given a bad name to one of the twelve tribes of Israel which is against God's plan.

All through the Bible, it has been discovered that women play a vital role in naming a child.

It was Mary who first got the name of Jesus.

The same for the mother of Samson.

It was Sarah who named Isaac. All the twelve tribes of Israel were named by their mothers except for Benjamin. It was Hannah who named Samuel.

Even when the angel of the Lord told Zachariah the father of John the Baptist his name, he couldn't relate it to his wife because he was dumb all through the pregnancy. But Elizabeth his wife was able to get the same name in her spirit and the child was rightly named.

*As a woman,  God gave you nine months to carry your baby in your womb not just as an incubator but to be able to connect heaven on behalf of the child. Don't fail in your responsibility.*

You are not just birthing a new born, but you are birthing a destiny,  a nation,  and you must be able to name it.

*Call your children what you will love to see in them in future. You will get what you named.*

*Speak the future into existence, don't speak the prevailing situation into the future.*
