CHOICE

Text: Proverbs 22:1

*A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold*

*One of the greatest powers and responsibilities God has saddled man with, is the ability to decide and choose.*

God however did not leave man in the dark, He always clearly instructs man to choose the best option. For instance in Deuteronomy 30:19, God set before man life and death, blessing and curse: and He clearly advised man to choose life. *Choosing life eternal is a choice you have to make*

In our text, God instructed that a good name be chosen rather than great riches.

So many people have sold off good name for great riches. When you consider great riches above good name, you do everything even at the expense of good name to get it.

So, what is good name?

A good name is the image and identity of those whose lives are consistent with the standard of God. _However, God’s solid foundation still stands. It has this inscription on it: “The Lord knows those who belong to him,” and “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from evil.”_ 2Tim 2:19. One who turns away from evil is one who has chosen good name. People who choose good name are those who will not compromise their Faith in God for substance or pleasure. They are people who will choose good conscience rather than great riches.

*Choosing to satisfy God's pleasure rather than yours is a step towards earning yourself a good name.*

Joseph chose himself a good name while in the house of Potiphar. He rejected great riches and pleasure in order to embrace a good name. *Sometimes, choosing good name may cost you great riches* . Joseph lose his garment and position in Potiphar's house because he chose not to do wickedness and sin against God. Gen. 39:7-17

Moses also refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;11:24-25.

*Moses chose the good name of esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt, he is a worthy example.* : Hebrew 11:26

*Choosing a good name above great riches is hinged on your understanding of the reward attached to GOOD NAME.* Moses simply chose good name above pleasure in Egypt because he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

*The reason you are often tempted to choose riches rather than good name, is because you are ignorant of greater reward in GOOD NAME*

When you see the GREAT reward attached to GOOD NAME, you will always be ready to choose GOOD NAME rather than GREAT riches.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
