OVERCOMING CHALLENGES(3)

Text: 1 Samuel  30:6

*And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.*

Personal encouragement must be done in the Lord  and not in yourself. The moment David encouraged himself in the Lord,, he received help. David asked Abiathar the priest to bring him the ephod for consultation. This is more like consulting God iin the place of prayer..

Philippians 4:6 shows us the  3 necessary keys to overcoming challenges :

"Be careful for *nothing* ; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God"

1. Being  careful for nothing. is to avoid anxiety and worry in the face of distress, pressure or challenges. This must be a deliberate step you must take.

No matter the challenges  that may come your way, you must not allow fear and anxiety  overthrow your faith in God.

God told Joshua in Joshua 1 to be *strong* and of a *good courage* four times. God knew that  Joshua would not be able to possess the inheritance(the promise lands) given to Israel without *Boldness* and *Courage* in Him.

2. Pray: *Staying in the place of prayer offers you the opportunity of beholding God and your challenges as they truly are-God is magnified and your mountains fade away*  In prayer, you see the  power and majesty of God and your mountains become level ground.

3. Thanksgiving: This is an attitude that must always accompany  our prayer and supplication.

*Thanksgiving is the posture which builds your faith and cause the peace of God, (which passes all understanding) keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus* .Philippians 4:7.

David received a soothing response when he prayed. His big challenge came down crumbling after he inquired from the Lord.

Though the Amalekites had left for some days after their invasion, God told David:

.....Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. 1 Samuel 30:8

In the name of Jesus Christ that is above every other name, you shall recover all your losses.  And you shall surmount all  insurmountable in your life.  Amen.

You are more than conqueror in Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
