TEXT:1 Corinthians 15:19 *“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”* Many people follow God only because of what they can gain on earth, -money, fame, protection, success, or connections, children, husband, wife etc. But Christianity is much deeper than earthly benefits. *Our ultimate hope as a Christian is eternal life through Jesus Christ.* The apostle Paul reminds believers that if our hope in Christ ends with this present world alone, then we are the most miserable people on earth. Why? Because following Christ sometimes requires sacrifice, endurance, discipline, and persecution. Without the hope of eternity, such sacrifices would seem meaningless. As believers, our eyes must remain fixed on eternity. Earthly achievements are temporary, but the kingdom of God is everlasting.
