TEXT : Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Our Lord Jesus did not answer the question He posed in the text, but it is always clear what the answer is.  Devil, being a liar always strive to ensure that man never come to the knowledge of the truth which sets free. John 8:32 & 44. *Devil's major exploit is  to see to it that, man will never place premium on his own soul in the same way the creator has.*  God did not send Jesus to this world to come save His creations like the sun, moon star, mountain, waters or the animals. But He sent Him to save the most precious thing to Him - The Soul of man. Jesus came to save you and I,  so that when He returns, He will destroy every other thing that our sins have defiled in order to give us new ones.  What a loving God we serve. TEXT: Genesis 50:15 When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him." God wants us to be like Him. He is an ever faithful and merciful Father. Once He forgives, He does not open up the offence again. *To know if you have truly forgiven an offence, you need to check if the pain is totally gone.* A forgiven offence no longer brings pain to the heart. Once you have genuinely given  pardon to an offender, you will realise that the pain which the offence and the offender brought to you had totally disappeared. Even if the offence is being talked about, it will no longer bring pain to your heart. Joseph's attitude towards his brothers remained consistent even after the death of their  Father(Jacob). Text: Genesis 45:5  Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. It's clear that Joseph was a prototype of our Lord Jesus Christ in many ways, especially by the very kind of attitude he put up after his betrayal of his envious brothers. He forgave them unconditionally.  Today, we shall be  looking at the different attitudes Joseph demonstrated right from the time his brothers sold him out into slavery. Joseph gave a magnanimous pardon to his brothers just as Jesus gave to the people who nailed him to the cross. He said, *"...Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do...."  Luke 23:34.* Joseph also handled his brothers like they did not know what they were doing.  The hardest thing to give to your enemies is love, and that's exactly what the Lord is asking you to give them. Jesus said in Matthew chapter five verse 44 - *"But I say unto you, Love your enemies..." ble...

Text :  Isaiah 64:8. But as for you, O LORD, you are our Father; and we are clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hands.*  Yesterday, we considered the story of Joseph and how God passed him through process. He passed through the process without compromising at any stage and he  came out a complete, and perfect product in God's hand.  Today, we shall be considering another man who went through his process and came out whole and complete.  Today, we shall be looking at the life of David. As a young boy growing up in Jesse (his father's) house, he had learnt how to lead flock of sheep. He was a shepherd boy, while his brothers were soldiers.  Little did he know that God was preparing and processing him to lead His most cherished nation (Israel).  *Sometimes, God may decide to process a man after his own heart in the wilderness and not in the palace.*  God processed and perfected David in the wilderness. Fruits are not only pleasant to the eyes, they are nutritional to the body. In the same way, any life that is bearing fruit will not only be pleasant to the people around him, he or she will bring health to those who eat thereof. Text : Jeremiah 17:5 & 7 "Thus says the LORD:  Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD....Blessed [is] the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD."   If a man placed a  curse on another man, God can override and cancel such curse. But if  God placed a curse on a man, no man can deliver  such one from such curse and its impact. So, when God says cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, then you must closely pay attention to yourself in order to ensure that your trust is not in any man. To avoid a curse from God, you must ensure that you wholly and completely trust and lean on Him. When you trust God, He will bless you abundantly. You  shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yieldin...

Text : Colossians 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. God's word says that if any man is in Christ, old things are passed away, and all things have become new.(2 Corinthians 5:17).  These old things are the constituents of your old conversations (behaviour) and your members which are upon the earth. Hence, the scripture is asking you to put to death your members which are on the earth: these members are fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Having become a new creature in Christ Jesus, you now have the responsibility of mortifying, that is, putting to death all the fleshly works which you used to walk in.  Romans chapter six verse six has made it very clear that your old man (old self) has been crucified with Christ.  *knowing this, that our family old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done ...

Text :  1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beg [you] as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, As children of God, we are sojourners and pilgrims in this world. Hence, the scripture strongly admonishes us to abstain from fleshly lusts. Today, we shall be looking at the fleshly lusts that are waging war against our souls. Galatians 5:19 says that "...the works of the flesh are evident..."  This means that the presence of fleshly lusts are revealed through certain manifestations  in our lives. These are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like..." (Galatians   5: 19-21). The presence or manifestation of any of the above is a full proof that fleshly lusts are waging war against your soul already. Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. I know that you are quite familiar with this scripture. This is one of the scriptures that preachers often use to invite unbelievers to Christ. When you however, critically look at this text, you will realize that there is more to it. It categorically states that, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. The New Living Translation version of the Bible renders it thus:  *"...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5:17).*  This is a scripture every believer in Christ Jesus must continuously refer to for the purpose of  measuring and benchmarking their stand in Christ.
