IT IS WELL-2

Text: 2 Kings 4:26. Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well. The Shunnamite woman told Gehazi all is well with her, even when it wasn't well at all. You must be very careful how, where and to whom you divulge your issues and information to. Not everyone who cares to hear about your problems truly cares about you. Just as though the woman knew that Gehazi can't solve her problem, she simply told him "all is well." But when she came to the man of God, she opened up her situation to him.  _And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me._(2 Kings 4:27). The same woman who told Gehazi it is well, was the same woman who caught Elisha by the feet because she wa

LIVE PEACEABLY

Image
Text :  Romans  12:18   If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men. Often,  you hear people say things like, "in as much as my relationship with God is intact, I don't care what people think or say about me." Well, as a true child of God, you should care. Hebrews  12:14 says *Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:*  To follow peace with all men is to pursue the peace. Note that God didn't say you should pursue peace with few folks, but rather with all men. Our text says, as much as it lies within your power, live at peace with all men.  Note that the "all men" is repeated again in this verse. It is true that some individuals are very difficult to tag along with but God didn't say you should be friends with all men, but that should should live at peace with all men. You should never get to a point where you and your neighbours are not on greeting terms. There should never be a time tha

SPIRIT OF ORPHAN

Image
Text: John 14:18  I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. Jesus told a story of a son who walked out of his Father's presence having collected the portion of goods that belong to him. This story is not just describing the condition of a sinner only, but one who has backslided and left God's presence. (See our Bible reading). There is a spirit at work in the life of this younger son that Jesus described in Luke 15.  Though he has a Father, but he was not comfortable living under the covering of His Father. He wanted his  own things, and he wanted to live far away from the presence of his Father. This kind of spirit is called the spirit of Orphan. The spirit of orphan is that which makes a believer not to stay under God. Though, such person may be born again, but such does not stay under the Lordship and authority of Jesus Christ. When the spirit of orphan is at work in a believer, such believer lives a prodigal life. To be prodigal is to be wastefully extravagant.  Jus

ORPHAN-2

Image
Text: John 14:18  I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. From God's perspective, a person is not an orphan   because he is a minor without earthly parents; but because he is void of total dependence on Him. Jesus' disciples, having stayed and interacted with Him for 3years could no longer live the rest of their lives without Him again. It was so evident they would become orphans at His departure if He did not come back to them. Hence, He gave them the assurance: "I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you" He truly came, not only for them but for you  as well. He abides with us through the Comforter-the Spirit of the Father; the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, " *...you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father."* Romans 8:15 Without the evidential and manifest presence of the Holy Spirit in your life, you are simply a

ORPHAN

THURSDAY 21st SEPTEMBER, 2023. Text: John 14:18  I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you While Merriam-webster defines an orphan as a child deprived by death of one or usually both parents, the scripture covers a a wider meaning. An orphan according to the scripture could even be a 78 year old man, and not necessarily one without parents.  *An orphan in the Bible is not just a minor. Anyone that is not enjoying the  Fatherhood of God is an orphan.*  Jesus promised not to leave His grown-up disciples as orphans. In this case, he wasn't referring to minors but adults.  This utterance of Jesus revealed that grown up adults can also be orphans.  Jesus made this statement because He had provided His disciples a proper, effective and efficient parental privileges for the period of the three years He was with them. Under His leadership, Jesus' disciples had enjoyed divine coverings, divine protection, deliverance; supernatural provisions, divine health, and miraculous supplie

THE WIDOWS

Image
Text :  Deuteronomy 24:17. “ Don’t deny justice to a foreigner or to an orphan, nor take a widow’s garment as collateral for a loan. A widow is a woman who has been bereaved of her husband. Culture and man's stereotype most of the times heap more sorrow and discomfort on her. Psalms 68:5 says God almighty Himself is the advocate for widows, so, if a widow cry out to Him, He will defend her case and you will not be guiltless.  Expressly, God said in Exodus  22:22 that You shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. And this is a command. In the New Testament,  God instructs the children and relatives of widows to take very good care of her. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to respect their own family by repaying their parents, for this is pleasing in God’s sight.1Timothy 5:4. The church is to take care of any widow within her local assembly whose children or relatives are incapable of taking care of her. This goes to show that from old testam

HERITAGE

Image
Text : Psalms 127:3  Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. "Lo!" is an exclamatory word, it is an attention-getting word. So when the bible says 'Lo!' it's calling you to pay attention to what God has to say. Lo! children are an heritage of the Lord. Explicitly, this shows that children belong to God and He gives them as He wills. James 1:17 says  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Children are good gifts from God, and as a good Father He knows how and when to give this good gift to His children. Matthew 7:11. He said in His words that none shall be barren in His house. (Exodus 23:26). So if you seem to have a delay, know that you are not barren, you are only a waiting Father or mother.  Listen to His words concerning you, dear waiting Father and mother, *For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but

LEND TO THE LORD

Image
Text:Proverbs 19:17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you! Often than not poverty is not just as a result of lazyness, it is more of the consequence of the fall of our first parents(Adam and Eve) in the garden of Eden.  The ground was cursed for their sake. In Genesis 3:17-19 God said to Adam:  _'... Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you...in the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground...."_  Since *everything* man needs to put food on his table comes from the ground, and the ground had been cursed, man had to struggle before he can put food on his table. But this was not the initial plan of God. Even the rich are sweating and struggling to keep their position. A major number of the so called rich in our world today are simply smarter (according to man's sinful nature) in subjecting their fellow man.  Tak

ALL THINGS

Image
Text: Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. As God's lover and one that is called according to His purpose, you must be confident of one truth- everything works together for your good! You will be at peace once this knowledge is well established in your heart. Sometimes, you will wonder why certain incidence befall you.  You may be wallowing in regrets over certain steps and decisions you've taken that has landed you in a big ditch or mess. This ought not to be for you. You will be well able to let go of all your pains, remorse and setbacks once you realised that all things are working together for your good.  *God has a way of turning everything around  for your good, learn to trust Him.* Learn to calm your heart and nerves  down even in the face of pandemonium.  Your only concern should be centred around responding to God's love so as to love Him as well. DETAILS

Image
Text :  Genesis 22:2.  And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. God gave Abraham specific instruction to offer his son unto Him. He accompanied this instruction with details of where and how He wants him to do it. Sometimes ago, we defined obedience as doing what you are asked to do the way you are asked to do it and as at when you are asked to do it.  That is, *obedience is not complete if it's not done at the right time and in the right way.* Doing the right thing in the right way and at the right time has everything to do with paying attention to little details. On the surface, the tall instruction God gave to Abraham was to sacrifice his son, Isaac. However,  if Abraham had neglected to pay attention to the little details attached to this main instruction,  he would have missed out outrightly.  Specifically,  he was to

GIVE AND TAKE-2

Image
Text :  Genesis  22:17  That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.  Many are claiming the blessings of Abraham today, and rightly so, Abraham's blessing is for everyone who is in Christ Jesus. Now, If blessing is transgenerational, then note that curses could be transgenerational too. Abraham gave his one and only son (of promise)-Isaac, as a seed, in obedience to God's instruction, and in return, God rained blessings upon him. This blessing didn't just stay with Abraham alone, it was also pronounced on his children and his entire lineage. When Gehazi the servant of Elisha trespassed, the curse that was placed on him also spread to his descendants. (2 Kings 5:15-27). This goes to show that *your decision today can leave a blessing or curse for your unborn children. BEWARE!*  A number of times, you won't be the

LET GO

Image
Text: Mark 1:17&18 Jesus told them, “Follow me, and I’ll make you fishers of people!” So immediately they left their nets and followed him. Peter and his brother, Andrew left all and followed Jesus just at His beckon. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. They immediately left the boat and their father and followed Him. Note that these men were engaged doing their business before Jesus called them, and immediately, they let go of what they were doing to follow Jesus.  Imagine that they refused to answer Him, with the excuse that they were busy. Well, Jesus wouldn't have been stranded, just that their bishopric would have been given to another, just like in the case of Judas Iscariot. Acts 1:20. As a matter of fact, you and I will not be talking about them today because they would have been long forgotten.  There's nothing the Apostles o

GRACE PREVAILS!

Image
Text: Romans 8:3 (NLT) The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin's control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. When God's grace is upon a man's life, the power to overcome Sin and Devil is upon such.  Grace is not just limited to God's favour, it is God's ability at work in your life. Where the law fails to handle and terminate sin, grace prevails. *The law could not handle man's sinful nature, only grace in Christ Jesus did.*  When grace gets a good hold of you, you will be turned into another man. You will become a man of power and strength. Apostle Paul said, "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me" (1 Corinthia

GRACE ABOUNDS-2

Image
Text: Romans 6:1  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Romans 5:20 (The message version) says "...Sin didn't, and doesn't, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it's sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. Grace is a jaw-breaker. It terminates and destroys sin and death.  Apostle Paul therefore asked in Romans 6:1 that shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  He responded in the negative-God forbid! When Jesus(Grace) found the woman caught in the very act of adultery, who was about to be stoned to death, he sets her free from death. Thereafter, He said to her, "Go and sin no more!" That's what grace sounds like: *Grace forgives extravagantly but also sets free from the power of sin, so grace grants you forgiveness and also gives you the power to live above sin.*  Sin is not just limited to works of the flesh outlined in Galatians 5:19-21. Sin is anything and everything

GRACE ABOUNDS

Image
Text: Romans 6:1   *What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?*  Do you know that the opposite of grace is sin? Romans 5:21 shows that grace is the opposite of sin. It says that "...as *sin reigned* unto death, even so *grace might reign* through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord". The scripture above makes us understand that sin reigns unto death, while grace reigns (through righteousness) unto eternal life. When sin reigns, it gives birth to death, and when grace reigns, it gives birth to eternal life.  *Where and When grace reigns, sin cannot prosper. If grace is truly reigning in your life, then the power of sin is broken.*  "...But where sin increased and abounded, grace (God's unmerited favor) has surpassed it and increased the more and superabounded" (Romans 5:20; Amp). Don't be deceived by the wrong concept snd teachings of Grace flying all around. Grace is not the icing sugar on the cake of your

DRIVE YOUR ISHMAEL AWAY

Image
Text :  Gen 21:10.   *She told Abraham, “Throw out this slave girl, along with her son, because this slave’s son will never be a co-heir with my son Isaac!”*  After waiting for so long without a child, Abraham agreed with his wife to raise a child through their maid, Hagar. Genesis 16:1-4. Hagar  bore a child to Abraham when he was around the age of 86, and they called his name Ishmael. However,  this was not the plan of God for them- Abraham and Sarah. God promised Abraham a child through his wife Sarah and nothing more.  *When you are impatient to wait for God's promise, you improvise for Him. Note that such improvisions come with huge consequences.*   At God's own time, He made good His promise to Abraham, and Sarah gave him a child at the age of 100. Humanly speaking, this is an impossible feat, but our *God specialises in making the impossible possible- learn to trust in Him.*  After much ado, Sarah could no longer condone the excesses of Hagar and her son Ishmael, and she

THE TRUE INHERITANCE-3

Text : Deuteronomy 10:9   *Therefore Levi has no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD [is] his inheritance, just as the LORD your God promised him.)*  The Lord set the Levites as a model. He did not allow them share in the portion of lands given to all the tribes of Israel. God was their portion and inheritance. The Levites today are the believers. All believers are now  priests unto God. 1Peter 2:9. The Psalmist also recorded that the Lord is your portion in the land of the living. (Psalms 142:5). The land of the living cannot be this earth. It is only in the kingdom of heaven that you can find the land of the living. *Anyone that is outside God's kingdom is not in the land of the living but of the dead.*  God told Patriarch Abraham that He is his shield and exceeding great reward. God wanted Abraham to inherit Him and not things He has blessed him with. (Genesis 15:1). Can you also seek to inherit God and not things? Can you pass God as inheritance to your children
