TEXT: 1John 2:3.

This is how we can be sure that we have come to know him: if we continually keep his commandments.

Knowing God is more than knowing about Him. We may know His name, His people, read the Bible, sing songs to Him or about Him, and listen to sermons, and still not know Him.

That you know about the President of your nation does not mean that you really know Him. Genuine knowledge of God will produce a changed life.

John gave us a practical way to examine our true knowledge of God : knowing God is tantamount to keeping His commandments?

The word “keep” goes beyond hearing God's words, it's more about remembering God's Word with the aim of obeying, observing, guarding, and living by what God has commanded. 

Our obedience  shows that we know and love Him.
Jesus said:
“If you love me, keep my commandments.” 
 (John 14:15).
There is a connection between knowing, loving, and keeping.

When you truly know God, you will desire to please Him. When you  love Him, His Word becomes important to you. And when His Word becomes important to you, you will seek to obey it, not only when it is convenient, but also when obedience appears difficult.

It is possible to have knowledge without obedience.
You can know what the Bible says about forgiveness but refuse to forgive.

You can know that we should love others but continue to live in hatred.
You can know that we should speak the truth but choose dishonesty.
You can know that we should pray but neglect prayer.

Knowledge alone does not demonstrate spiritual maturity.
James 1:22 says, *“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”* 

God is not simply looking for people who know His Word. He wants people who live His Word.

True knowledge of God produces a heart that says:
“Lord, I know Your Word, and by Your grace, I want to live according to it.”

Our obedience is therefore not merely an outward religious activity. It is a response of love, faith, and submission to God.

Our speech, relationships, choices, attitudes, finances, private life, and treatment of others all provide opportunities to demonstrate what we have learnt from Christ. Your knowledge is demonstrated in obedience.

Let us not only confess that we love Christ. Let our obedience demonstrate that love.

 *KNOWING God's words should lead to KEEPING it, and KEEPING it demonstrates genuine KNOWING* .

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness.
