His Voice Devotional
Text : Luke 10:39.
"She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what He said."
A true follower of the LORD Jesus Christ must embrace friendship with Jesus Christ on a three-level platform. As such, a follower must be a Worker, Worshipper, and Waiter.
We have looked at a Worker and a Worshipper. Today, we shall be considering who a Waiter is.
The three friends of Jesus are Worker (Martha), Worshipper(Mary) and Waiter(Lazarus).
Lazarus had died, and he had no hope of rising again until and unless Jesus came for him. Lazarus was a friend to Jesus and he loved him.
These things said he: and after that he said unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.(John 11:11). A Waiter is anyone who always waits on Jesus Christ for help and deliverance.
A Waiter is one who believes in God and makes no haste. *"...He that believes shall not make haste" (Isaiah 28:16).* A Waiter believes to the very point of seeing God's glory. (John 11:41). *All that matters to a Waiter is God's Glory. It is God's glory or nothing else.* This is because a Waiter can be likened to a dead person. He always waits on God. A Waiter does not look for his own things but for God's.
Jesus got the message from Lazarus before he eventually died. Lazarus must have therefore patiently waited for his healer to come. Lazarus waited on Jesus, believing that He would come and heal. In a glorious style, Jesus did not show up to heal him but he showed up to raise him from the dead. A Waiter is not even afraid of death, because he knows that his LORD reigns over death and grave.
As a waiter, you are not just a believer, but an ardent believer in the LORD Jesus Christ. The book of Hebrews chapter 11 is a book of waiters.
Sara who received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised, is a waiter.(Hebrews 11:11)
The women who received their dead raised to life again: and others who were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection are all waiters:(Hebrews 11:35).
Abraham, when he who offered up Isaac: his only begotten son,is a waiter. (Hebrews 11:17).
And finally, our Lord Jesus Christ trusted and patiently waited on the Father God to raise him up on the third day as promised.
Praise God, the LORD did raise Him from the grave on the third day.
Are you also waiting on God? Are you a waiter
If you did wait on Him, He will certainly come through for you.
*Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.(Psalms 27:14).*
*Bible Reading:*
Hebrews 11:11-37
