Text: Mark 8:38.
“If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes with the holy angels in his Father’s glory.”*
We live in a world that increasingly celebrates everything except Christ.
In many circles, speaking about Jesus is considered uncivilized, fanatical, or even offensive. The pressure to remain silent or passive about our faith is real.
Many believers find it easier to discuss politics, sports, business, and entertainment than to openly identify with Jesus and His teachings.
Yet, Jesus reminds us that our relationship with Him is not something to hide. He is not a religious figure; He is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and the Creator and Sustainer of all things. To belong to Him is the greatest honor anyone can ever receive.
The challenge in Mark 8:38 is not only about being ashamed of Jesus Himself but also being ashamed of His words.
Many are willing to acknowledge Christ but hesitate to stand by His teachings when they contradict the norms in the society.
*True discipleship requires both embracing the Person of Jesus and obeying His Word, even when it is unpopular.*
Apostle Paul demonstrated this boldness when he declared, *“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God's power for the salvation of everyone who believes”* (Romans 1:16).
Paul understood that the Gospel is not something to be hidden or watered down. It is God's power that transforms lives, delivers sinners, and reconciles people to God.
*Our generation desperately needs believers who will lovingly and courageously stand for Christ.* We must not allow the fear of rejection, ridicule, or social pressure to silence our witness for Jesus.
The One whom the world rejects today is the very One who will return in Glory with His holy angels.
On that day, earthly opinions will no longer matter; what will matter is whether we faithfully identified with Him.
May we count it a privilege to bear His name, proclaim His truth, and live unashamedly for His glory.
