GOD'S STANDARD

Text : 2 Timothy 2:19.

 *Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.* 

It is possible to think that the all-merciful God cannot condemn anyone to eternal punishment. Yet He says expressly in  Revelation 20:15 that Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. This is exactly what will happen at the close of day.

Again, Matthew 25:46 says these people will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

It is very possible to think that God cannot do what He did with the Earth's populace in the time of Noah any longer. Yet, He completely destroyed everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah after the flood experience, except for Lot and his children.

The God that wiped away the Earth's populace in the time of Noah (saving only Noah and his household) with flood is still on the throne, His standards has not changed.

The God that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire is still on the throne, He has not reduced His standards.

He is a merciful God and He is a consuming fire. He is patient with us in this generation not because He has lowered His standards of holiness and righteousness, but so we could have opportunity to repent.

2 Peter 3:9 says, *The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some people understand slowness, but is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to repent.* 

"But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. On that day the heavens will disappear with a roaring sound, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done on it will be exposed." 2 Peter 3:10.

God will not reduce His standard in any way. He is God, He remains the same. Don't be swayed by the prevailing decadence in our world, uphold the standard of God in everything you do.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. GULLIBLE BUT INTELLIGENT
