Text :1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.*
The scripture made it very clear that you once operated in the capacity of one or many of the above description before. *But you were washed, you were sanctified, and you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.*
The Lord did three things for you the moment you confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
*Firstly, you were washed.* For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Titus 3:3-5).
It is clear from the above scriptures that God's kindness and love appeared to you not by your works of righteousness which you have done but by His mercy, *you were saved by the washing of new birth and renewing of the Holy Ghost.*
*Secondly, you were sanctified.* The Lord saved, and brought us to himself by separating us from this world and it's lusts. He continues to sanctify us by His truth according to Jesus' prayer. *Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.(John 17:17)*
*Thirdly, you were justified.* The Lord made you right with Himself through the offering of Jesus Christ. By this you were brought into peace with God.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,(Romans 5:1).
In view of your washing, sanctification and justification, you are no longer indebted to the flesh. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.(Romans 8:12).
Also, by your washing, sanctification and justification, you have been crucified to the world, and vice versa.
"...God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world".(Galatians 6:14)
As a child of God, you must continually live in the liberty that God has brought you theough Christ Jesus.
