IIDLE WORDS

Text : Matthew 12:36.

“But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every idle word they have spoken.”

Jesus’ words are clear and sobering. He meant every word He says and He says what He meant. In the same vein, He expects all His followers to say what they meant. He wants our words to carry power the same way His does. In His teachings, He made us to know that what we say matters. He didn't want us to say any Idle word.

Idle words are not just meaningless chatter; they can reflect the condition of the heart. Paul reinforces this in Ephesians 5:4, warning against “obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking,” which are not fitting for those who belong to Christ.

As followers of Jesus Christ, our speech should be purposeful, life-giving, and seasoned with grace Colossians 4:6 says Col 4:6 says, *Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.*

Idle words, — gossip, sarcasm, crude jokes, or careless comments — can damage others, grieve the Holy Spirit, and reveal spiritual laziness. Even when no one else hears them, God does. He calls us to holiness, even in our speech and in our secret places.

Are you aware that the things you say can earn you good and long life and vice versa? Well, 1 Peter 3:10 lays this truth freely on the table for us.-
*“For the person who wants to love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.*

Also, Proverbs 13:2 says, *From the fruit of his words a man receives benefit,   but the treacherous crave violence.* You will benefit from whatever you say with your mouth, whether to yourself or to another person.

Take time to examine your words. Are they building up or tearing down? Are your words bringing light or spreading darkness? Ask the Holy Spirit to guard your tongue and to help you speak with wisdom, truth, and love.

 *PRAYER FOCUS*

Father, please help me to honor You with my words. Purify my speech so that what I say reflects Your heart in  Jesus name.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
