DO YOU LOVE LIFE-2

Text : 1 Peter 3:10-11

"He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.

To love life and see good days you must turn from evil and do good. It is not enough to turn away from evil, you must also do good.

You must be doing the two concurrently, that is, departing from evil, and doing good.

One fateful day, David and his men had just returned from the land of the Philistines, all to find that the enemy had invaded Ziklag (his base) and burned it with fire. They took captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. (1 Samuel 30:1).

David inquired of the Lord if he should pursue, overtake and recover all that the enemy had carried away. The Lord answered him: ""Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all."

While David and his men embarked on their pursuit of the enemy, they found a sick  Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David; and they gave him bread and he ate, and they let him drink water.

Note that David and his men could have ignored the Egyptian or even kill him the moment they realized he is from the camp of the enemy. However David has learnt how to depart from evil and do good, this wounded soldier was able to lead them to the camp of the enemy.

This is an important lesson for you. Though you may be going through difficult situations. This is not an excuse for neglecting the needs of other people around you. It is also not a reason to pay evil for evil.

David and his men refrained themselves from killing this Egyptian, rather, they did good to him, the result of their gesture was that they overtook the enemy and they recovered all that the enemy had taken from them.

As you make a decision to depart from evil and do good from now on, you will live to see good days.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
