EXTREME LOVE

Text: Matthew 5:44

But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,

The greatest commission as we have it in the Bible is in Matthew 28:19 which says, _Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:_ See to it that you are obeying this commission.

The greatest command however is bordered on LOVE.  The command to love is splattered all over the Bible. One of such  Bible references is in Matthew chapter twenty two which says-

Jesus told him, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
This is the greatest and most important commandment.
The second is exactly like it: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39.

As a child of God, I know you are familiar with this commandment. The question is how are you faring with it? Are you truly obeying the greatest commandment?

Now, deeper than loving your neighbor is what Jesus Christ is demanding from His disciples, which is loving your enemies. It is natural for anyone to love those who love them. Anyone who hates those that love him or her is lower than animals, because even animals know how to reciprocate love.

When Jesus gave us the instructions to love our neighbors like ourselves, He wasn't referring to those who are easy to love only or those who will naturally love us back. He meant those hard- to- crack human beings. Those whom you naturally will not want to waste your love on.

Hear what Jesus has to say on this, He says, *If you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Even the tax collectors do the same, don’t they?*
And if you greet only your relatives, that’s no great thing you’re doing, is it? Even the unbelievers do the same, don’t they? Matthew 5:46&47.

This is why He's saying,  Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. This is going against the natural flow. Note that you are not a natural being anymore but a supernatural being, so you can't operate with natural laws anymore.

Love is the fulfillment of the law. The God kind of love will be viewed by man as extreme love, and this is what God is demanding from you.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
