OVERCOMING THE INFLUENCE OF HELL

Text: Matthew 10:28

*And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.* 

One of the topics that you hardly hear in the the church today is Hell or Hell fire. It is also a topic that has been overstressed and erroneously taught in some quarters. 

Today, we trust the Holy Spirit to give us His grace to be able to rightly divide this truth without swinging on either side of the extremes mentioned above. 

Not to warn people about hell and hell fire is one extreme. Erroneous teachings about seeing some Christians or preachers in hell is also another extreme. Some preachers today are experts in seeing many people in hell fire. We are to preach the gospel which saves from hell and hell fire, it's not our duty to be judging or condemning the people of God or even the sinners to hell.

Surprisingly, our Lord Jesus Christ, all through the synoptic gospels never preached hell fire at sinners, but He only warned the religious people and His followers about Hell fire. This is because He came to draw sinners out of hell, and to warn those that have been drawn out of hell not to partake in it anymore.

Jesus Christ once taught His disciples never to fear anyone who can only kill the body, but the very One (God) who has power to cast body and soul into hell. By this, the master is also teaching us today to fear the LORD and not man or any unseen forces.(Devil and his cohorts). 

It is therefore clear that the only way to overcome the influence of Hell is through the fear of the Lord. 

It is only the fear of the Lord through your belief in Jesus Christ and your continuous walk in His  steps that saves you from hell. Self- righteousness, religion, observation of rules and regulations will never save anyone from hell and its influence.

 *PRAYER FOCUS* 

1.) Father, I receive the grace to always walk in your fear alone in Jesus name.

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation.
