DIVINE MOMENT

Text :  Mark 10:47. 

And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

The scripture is full of stories of mere men who became great men of valour and worth by seizing seemingly common occasions to rise to high positions. 

Today, we shall begin a series that will look into the lives of these men in order to glean wisdom from them.

 *JOSEPH* 

Joseph was a young man who carried great destiny. He grew up like every regular person. His divine moment came almost unnoticed, but his habitual obedience to simple instructions helped him launched  into his divine destiny.

In Genesis 37:13 Jacob, Joseph's father called him and said,  “Your brothers are tending the flock in Shechem. Come here, because I am going to send you to them.” “Here I am!” he responded.

Joseph didn't know he wouldn't see his father again until over thirteen years later. His obedience to carry out his father's instruction paved way for him to fulfill divine destiny. 

Now, the pathway to destiny aren't always laced with roses. As a matter of fact,  *there are lots of ups and downs on the pathway to success, if you give up on the road, you'll forfeit the glory.* 

For Joseph,  he went through harsh betrayals. First, his own brothers stripped him off the tunic that his father had given him—that is, the richly-embroidered tunic that he had. Thereafter, they threw him in an empty cistern to die. Genesis 37:23-24.

They later decided to sell him off into slavery for 20 pieces of silver.  Genesis 37:25-28. 

So Joseph was sold to an Ishmaelites, who then took him down to Egypt.

As if his predicament was not terrible enough, he was later lied against by his boss' wife. His only offence was that he refused to commit adultery with her.

This was what led him to prison. *At times, what you are experiencing may be the opposite of what God has shown (told) you; hold on, His words will never fail. It will end in Joy.* 

I am sure you know how the story ends. God moved Joseph from prison to palace, from slavery to kingship. 

Eventually, God fulfilled the dreams He showed to Joseph about people bowing down to him. However,  he would have missed his divine moment if he had refused to do the menial job his father sent him.

God wouldn't come down from heaven to tell you exactly when and where your divine moment will be, it will be wrapped in a seemingly not too big assignment given to you by men. Watch out so you don't miss out.
