Text : Psalms 25:5
Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You [are] the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.
Our Lord Jesus Christ clearly made it clear that the Holy Spirit will lead us into all the truth. (John 16:13). The same promised Holy Spirit is here with us today. Hence, no one who has the Holy Spirit has an excuse for not knowing what or who the truth is.
We live in a confused and noisy world. Many are looking and searching for the truth. Those who seem to have found the truth (Jesus Christ), are not journeying into all the truth. They are not being guided and led by the truth.
One of the major onslaughts of the enemy is placing a lie side by side with the truth. Having received the truth, many could no longer advance into the truth because of the lies the enemy has wrapped around the truth.
Philip, one of the deacons appointed by the Apostles went to Samaria, and Simon the sorcerer came to the truth but the lies in his head weren't dealt with.
The scriptures recorded that Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.(Acts 8:13). Just like many in the church today, though Simon had believed the truth, but the lies of the enemy still played in his head.
Consequently, when Simon saw that the people were receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands, he offered money to Peter for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Are there not many in our church today that are also offering money for anointing of the man of God to come up on them as well.
Unlike what we see today, Apostle Peter saw that Simon was not being guided and led by all truth. He rebuked him sharply saying, "...Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
This was the scenario of a man who has received the truth but is yet to be led and guided into all the truth. We have many like these on our pulpits and pews today.
Anyone who has embraced the truth, must not hesitate to seek to know the truth He has received.
*It is one thing to believe Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, it's another thing to know Him whom you have received.*
For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, *for I know whom I have believed* and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.(2Timothy 1:12)
