Text: Luke 22:32.
But I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail. When you have come back, you must strengthen your brothers.”
The only thing the enemy is after is your Faith. The enemy is not primarily after your money, relationship, career, health, family or any other thing you hold dear. He is basically after your faith. When he touches any of the things you hold dear, it is so he can get you to lose your faith, so watch out!
Before Jesus prayed for Simon in our text, hear what He told him first- “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat,...(Luke 22:31).
Satan is still in the business of looking for Jesus' disciples to sift. His aim is to sift the good part of someone away, leaving the person as a mere carcass and shaft while still living. *Anyone who has lost his place in God is a living carcass.*
Jesus' prayer reveals the only way by which one can be saved from the hands of Satan. He said, I have prayed for you that *your faith* may not fail.
It's comforting to know that this prayer is not only for Simon Peter, Jesus is still praying the same prayer for you and I.
Romans 8:34 says, Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us. While Satan is looking for who to condemn, the word of God says Jesus Christ is at the right hand of God, interceding for us. And I can add that He is interceding for us that our faith will not fail.
1Peter 1:9 states what the objective of your faith should be, it says, *Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.*
The reason God called you out of darkness into His marvelous light is so that your soul might be saved. And this is why the devil is setting ambush along your way, so your faith can fail along the way, thereby losing the salvation of your soul.
Beloved, Jesus is faithfully interceding for you, but you must know this as well that your faith will be tested. _Because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance._
_But you must let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing._ (James 1:3&4)
