THE KINGDOM


Text. John  18:36 

 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

When Jesus Christ was born, the angels heralded the news of his birth to wise men. It was openly declared that he was born king. The wise men asked, “Where is the one who was *born king of the Jews?* We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:2).

So, anyone who is wise will know and acknowledge Jesus Christ as King. There's no King without a kingdom. So Jesus Christ came with His kingdom. And anyone who is in Christ is a member of that kingdom.

However, the Kingdom of our Lord is not of this world. He Himself told us expressly in today's text that His kingdom is not of this world. This goes to show that there's another kingdom in this world that is different from the kingdom of Christ.

While satan was tempting Jesus in the wilderness, he offered to  give him all the kingdom of this world - _Once more the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, along with their splendor.

He told Jesus, “I will give you all these things if you will bow down and worship me!” (Matthew 4:8-9).

If the kingdoms of this world were not Satan's, Jesus would have contested that fact with him. The only Kingdom in this world that is not under the dictates of Satan is the kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This is why He (Jesus Christ) told us in John 17:14 that, though we are in the world, we are not of the world. So, as a child of God, your life is being governed by the principle of God's kingdom and never by the principle of this world.

One thing you must know is that this world will hate you because you do not belong here. Hear what our master says in John 17:14, I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 

If you are in the good book of the unbelievers around you, it is purely because you are running with same principle like them. James puts it this way,  _Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God._ (James  4:4).

When you live according to the principle of God's kingdom, you will be like a city that is set on an hill which cannot be hid. (Matthew  5:14).

 God's principle will make you live at peace with all men without compromising the standard of God.

Beloved, ask yourself, which kingdom do you belong to? Kingdom of God or kingdom of this world. Jesus is the King in our kingdom, Satan is the King of this world. The King you listen to determines the kingdom you belong to.

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. GULLIBLE BUT INTELLIGENT
