IT PROFITS NOTHING!

Text : John 6:63.

*It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and [they] are life.*

If Jesus declared that the flesh profits nothing, then it means it profits absolutely nothing.

Today, we shall be looking at the various perspectives in which God views and describes flesh.

The Lord declared in Genesis 6:3, saying, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he [is] indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."

God declared man as flesh here because man no longer submits to the leading and Lordship of the Spirit of God. Man has fallen to the point where he no longer acts in obedience to God's spirit but his flesh.

Flesh is the life and the nature of man's body and soul. It is the corrupt nature of the soul and body. It is the very life of every man born into this world. Flesh is a life outside of the control of God's Spirit.

Jesus said that, "that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). So, *the way out of flesh is not self-determination or self-righteousness but new birth by the Spirit and leading by the Spirit.*

*The first step out of the control and grip of the flesh is new birth (regeneration).* Hence, no man can can be delivered from the grip of the flesh without taking the first step of being born again.

Having been born again, you also need to continuously walk in the Spirit in order not to fulfill the desires of the flesh.

Galatians  5:16 says _This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh_

*As far as God is concerned, the flesh can neither be transformed, tamed nor changed. It must be put to death!*  *The death of the flesh takes place by rendering the flesh idle, unemployed and inoperative.* This is achieved through continuous obedience to the leadings of  Spirit.

The flesh must die!

 *Bible reading:* Romans 6:1-23.

PRAYER FOCUS

1.) Father God, I receive grace to always walk in the Spirit.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life. You have limited time to exchange for eternal life in eternity.  Time offers you the opportunity to ga...
