Text : 2 Corinthians 11:4
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Very explicitly we (God's children) were warned not to believe all spirit.
*Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.*
(1 John 4:1).
Hence, *responsibility is laid on you as a child of God to know which spirit is interfacing with you at any given time.*
As a matter of fact, someone you have known to be a child of God may be used to speak wrongly into your life by another spirit.
A good example was what happened between Jesus and Peter just before His crucifixion.
Jesus asked His disciples whom they perceived Him to be. And Peter answered by the Spirit of God that _"Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God"_ In response, Jesus said, “How blessed you are, Simon son of Jonah, since flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, though my Father in heaven has. (Matthew 16:17).
But almost immediately after, while Jesus was telling them how and why He must die, another spirit took hold of Peter and he spoke wrongly to Jesus.
Jesus knew he can't just take every word at the face level, He addressed the matter very squarely.
Jesus turned and told Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are an offense to me, because you are not thinking God’s thoughts but human thoughts!” (Matthew 16:23)
Though the words were spoken by Peter, but Jesus knew that it was another spirit (which is that of Satan) that spoke through him, so He responded back to the spirit that spoke through Peter.
This goes to show that not every spirit that speak in the name of God is the spirit of God.
You must never accept evil and unscriptural words into your life, even if it was said jokingly.
Regardless of who the speaker is, if it's not in conformity with the Spirit of God in you and with His written word, know that it is from another spirit, never allow it in your life.
Isaiah 54:17 says *No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.* This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Note that it is your duty to condemn every tongue that shall rise against you using God's word as your sword.
Bible Reading:Galatians 1:6-10.
