Text : 2Sam 12:12 ISV
“‘ *What you did in secret I’m going to do right in front of all Israel and in broad daylight as well!’”*
*God doesn't have problem with forgiving you your sins, but a number of times, you will still have to carry the scars.*
After David had committed adultery with Bathsheba, Uriah's wife, he plotted schemes of pushing the resultant pregnancy on Uriah. But all the schemes failed.
Eventually, he plotted the death of Uriah and took his wife over. Everything seems okay. No one could accuse him of any offence. But what is hidden to man is clearly opened before God.
God later sent a prophet to him (David). After much Ado, he realised his errors, was deeply sorry and begged God for forgiveness. Yes, God forgave him but he still had to live with the consequences of his actions. 2 Sam 12:1-13.
To whom much is given, much is required. David knew so much than to allow himself to be so lured by temptation.
Hear what our Master says on this matter :
'But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.Luke 12:48.
Now, let's see some of the consequences David had to face :
1. *Wars within his family.* Because David killed Uriah with the sword of the Ammonite army, hear what God told him, “‘Therefore the sword will never leave your household, because you have despised me by taking the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’ 2S#j7a 12:10 ISV.
*It's not always all about you. Some of your choices and decisions will have a ripple effect on your generation. CHOOSE WISELY*
2. *Rape :* Amnon, one of David's sons raped Tamar,one of David's daughters. 2 Sam. 13:1-19.
3. *Murder :* Later, Absalom, one of David's sons killed Amnon with the sword. 2 Sam. 13:20-31.
4. *Civil war :* His own son tried to dethrone him, and he almost succeded if not that God intervened. 2 Sam 15.
5. *Abominable defilement :* His own son slept with his wives in broad daylight, and in full glare of the people. 2 Sam 16:20-22, 12:11.
If David knew his one night fling would cost him so much, surely he would have had a rethink. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians. 5:22. It's wiser to flee than to later regret.
