Text : 2 Sam 11:2 WEB
*At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at.*
*Just one distractions can cost you more than you bargained for in a lifetime. PRAY AGAINST DISTRACTIONS AND WORK AGAINST IT TOO.* One error, one mistake can lead to a transgeneratiinal consequences.
We shall be looking into a series that extrays what distraction entails using King David as our case study.
For the record, David was not from a royal family. He was just a teenage shepard boy dedicated to obeying his father's instructions.
Well, it pleases the Lord to make this teenage boy the king of Israel.
_Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD came on David from that day forward. Then Samuel got up and went to Ramah._ 1Sam 16:13 ISV.
*When it comes to election, God doesn't choose by age nor by stature but by heart's composition.*
See what God told Prophet Samuel on this matter -
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1Sam 16:7.
Before David was anointed as king, hear people's testimony about him:
Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.1Sa 16:18.
That is, David was not just an average, straight-jacket shepard boy who merely does what he was told without discretion. Rather, he was a good child who goes an extra mile on every assignment with a touch of excellence.
Apart from taking care of his father's flock, he was a music maker, a brave soldier, excellent in speech, handsome and a carrier of God's presence. This goes to confirm God's word that says *Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will work for kings, not unimportant people.* Pro. 22:29.
*It is good to do as you are told, but it's better to exceed expectations. Don't just be dutiful, be creative.*
David was able to do much exploits even as a young man because he refused to be distracted.
*No one can fulfill his mandate if he is easily Distracted. Distractions is one enemy everyone needs to overcome in this dispensation.*
Tomorrow by His Grace, we shall look at how distractions set in for King David.
