GOD HATES DIVORCE

Text. : Malachi 2:16.

For the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I hate divorce and marital separation and him who covers his garment [his wife] with violence. Therefore keep a watch upon your spirit [that it may be controlled by My Spirit], that you deal not treacherously and faithlessly [with your marriage mate]._

God hates divorce!

The word of God specifically tells us that God hates divorce.Why then are people still getting themselves involve in what God hates? 

The major reason behind every divorce is  LOVE. I mean God's kind of LOVE is lacking in the relationship. It does not matter who is concerned, the standard  of stands firm.  God still hates divorce. 

In this dispensation of Grace, divorce is totally unacceptable to God.This is simply because God expects the relationship between husband and wife to mirror that of *Jesus and the Church.* Therefore, when a christian couple attempts divorce, they are simply telling God that Jesus can divorce the church. Divorce is a total assault from the pit of help against God's plan for marriage. Don't forget that marriage is not a product of sin. It predates the fall of man.

Jesus said,"But I tell you, Whoever dismisses and repudiates and divorces his wife, except on the grounds of unfaithfulness (sexual immorality), causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery"(Amp). Even where there is LOVE, you will forgive your spouse any sin(so far he or she has genuinely repented).

Remember that even Adam at his falling state did not divorce his wife. Adam did not separate from Eve after they both committed the great blunder of sinning against God. 

Adam has no one else to go to. He is glued to his wife because the woman is from him in the first place. This is how we should see our relationship with our spouses-JOINED TOGETHER. "Flesh of my flesh and bone of my bones" Adam said. How possible would it have been for him to divorce his flesh and his bone?

When couples divorce, they are simply tearing their flesh and breaking their bones. They are open themselves up. They expose their nakedness. God says "I hate divorce and marital separation and him who covers his garment [his wife]"Malachi 2:16

PRAYING MEN

Text : 1Timothy 2:8. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. God gave explicit instructions to all of His children as to how we must live our lives. Some of these instructions cut across boards, of which all of God's children must obey. However, there are some instructions that are specific to gender or portfolios. We we'll be looking at some of these instructions today.  *THE MEN* From our text, there are two distinct responsibilities God wants men to undertake, and the two are intertwined. First, God wants men to pray. The word  'men' as used in our text is not generic as to mean all human beings. It is specifically requesting that all men should pray. Yes, God expects every of His children to pray, but He specifically called men out here.  A number of times,  when prayer meetings are called, the proportion of women in attendance always outnumbered men. Text: 1 Kings 19:12 "...and after the earthquake a fire, [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice" Prophet Elijah fled after he received the life threatening message from Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, because he didn't keep himself calm before the Lord.  *Endeavouring to listen to God in difficult times is a major prerequisite to your deliverance.*  Are you faced with a life threatening situation like Prophet Elijah, the first and most important thing you need to do is: "Set yourself before the Lord for His still small voice."  *"You will be saved from many unwarranted troubles if only you will always maintain your calm before the Lord and listen to Him."*  After Prophet Elijah heard the still small voice, then the Lord asked him, "What are you doing here?"
