ADDICTED

Text : 1 Corinthians  16:15

I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)_

This is the only verse in the whole of the(KJV) Bible where the word "addicted" is mentioned. The word "Addicted" simply means to be devoted to or obsessed with something. So we can rephrase the verse by saying:

*you know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have DEVOTED themselves to the ministry of the saints.*

Whatever you are devoted to, obsessed with, or given yourself to is what you are addicted to. Such thing therefore has become your master. It has gain mastery over you. That means you are no longer in control. Addiction simply makes you a servant of something or some kind of bad and sinful acts.

Romans 6:16 says "Don’t you realize that you become the slave of *whatever* *you choose to obey* ? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

In our world today, many people are addicted to different kind of things such as hard drugs, illicit sex, alcohol, gambling, sleep, social media e.t.c

Before these things gain mastery over you or become your master, you must have allowed or chosen to obey them at some points in time.

It is easy to start, choose or walk into certain acts but when you become addicted they are not easy to break away from.  Often than not addiction is never used to depict anything good.  But for the house of Stephanas, they were addicted to a noble cause.

God is also looking for people like Daniel and and his friends, David and Joseph who will   be addicted to His cause and course on earth.

The TRUTH of the matter is, no one can truly break away from addictions if they are not addicted to something else. It takes one addiction to break you away from another. It takes your addiction to  Jesus, to break you away from addiction to sins(drugs, alcohol, illicit sex, masturbation, gambling).

*YOU CAN BE FREE FROM ANY FORM OF ADDICTION IF ONLY YOU ARE TRULY WILLING.*

*WILLINGNESS ON YOUR PART IS YOUR PASSPORT TO GETTING FREEDOM FROM ADDICTION*
