His Voice Devotional

TEXT: James 4:8 
 
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts,you double-minded.

Our God is a faithful God. He does not reject anyone that comes to Him. He first  came to all by sending His only begotten Son, and as many that received Him, He gave power to become  Sons of God. (John 1:12).

The moment you receive the LORD Jesus Christ as your Saviour and LORD, the Power to become Son of God is given to you. So, God's unconditional love was first revealed to the whole world, so that those who  believed and received His love can begin to draw near to Him. 

It is therefore clear that only those who have received God's love can draw near. And if you draw near to God, He will also draw near to you. 

Do not let anyone deceive you by saying that God loves all equally. Yes! He loved all (the world) equally when He sent His only begotten Son, but not afterwards.  *For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.(John 3:16).*

 *You will experience more of expressions of God's love based on your proximity  by drawing near to Him.* If all you've got is the acceptance of John 3:16 invitation and you stop to draw near to God afterwards, then you may not be able to experience the fullness of His love for you.

Having received Jesus Christ as your Saviour  and LORD, you must daily seek Him in prayer, study of the word and fellowship in obedience walk with Him. 

*God drew near by sending His Son, so that you can learn how to draw near unto Him continually.* God has saved you so that you can own the responsibility of drawing near to Him.

Another word for drawing near to God is to seek Him. *And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.(Jeremiah 29:13).* God can be found by those who draw near or seek Him. When you seek Him with all your heart, you will surely find Him.

The latter part of the study text stated two things that you must do in order to facilitate your drawing near to God. First, you must cleanse your hands if you are a sinner. Secondly, if you are a double-minded person, you are asked to purify your heart.

As a believer, you must keep seeking to know the LORD on a daily basis. You must not be stagnant in your pursuit of God.
You must keep pressing into God on a daily basis. You must be a diligent seeker of the LORD. *You must seek to grow in faith, hope and love- this is how to draw near God!* 
Just because Apostle Peter and John healed the lame man at the beautiful gate in Acts chapter 3, they were arrested, detained, and threatened  by the High priest and the captain of the temple. After their release, they went to their company and drew nearer to God in prayer. God responded  yo their cry and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and they spoke God's word with boldness. 

This is the result of drawing near to God on a continuous basis. That God has done a notable miracle through Peter and John did not deter them from seeking Him the more after they were opposed by the enemies of the gospel. 

 *Always draw near to God, in season and out of season-when things are going on well, and when they are not,  draw near unto Him always.*

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness.
