TEXT:1 Corinthians 15:19
*“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”*
Many people follow God only because of what they can gain on earth, -money, fame, protection, success, or connections, children, husband, wife etc. But Christianity is much deeper than earthly benefits.
*Our ultimate hope as a Christian is eternal life through Jesus Christ.*
The apostle Paul reminds believers that if our hope in Christ ends with this present world alone, then we are the most miserable people on earth. Why? Because following Christ sometimes requires sacrifice, endurance, discipline, and persecution. Without the hope of eternity, such sacrifices would seem meaningless.
As believers, our eyes must remain fixed on eternity. Earthly achievements are temporary, but the kingdom of God is everlasting. Houses, cars, titles, and wealth will all pass away someday, but our relationship with Christ and the reward of eternal life is what will remain forever.
This does not mean God will not bless us on earth. He will, but the greatest blessing is salvation and the hope of resurrection through Jesus Christ. Because Christ rose from the dead, we also have the assurance that death is not the end for believers.
Do not build your faith only on earthly expectations. Even when life becomes difficult, hold on to the eternal hope you have in Christ. One day, every pain, struggle, and sacrifice for God will be worth it.
Don't be too earthly- focused and lose sight of your eternal reward. Don't allow the fleeting pleasures of the temporary world shift your gaze from your heavenly race.
Remember, *Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.* 1 John 3:3.
